What our customers say about their holidays

Such a surprise!
We were expecting a certain standard but being between a busy road and the railway line we were of course a little concerned before we arrived. However, what greeted us was a delightfully cosy cottage tucked away above the road and surrounded by garden that could be closed off if you had dogs. The cottage itself was so welcoming and the treats left by the owners were such a lovely touch and gratefully received. The kitchen whilst small was very well designed and had everything you could need. The rest of the cottage was quite spacious and very homely and welcoming. We didn't use the log burner as there was no need as the central heating worked brilliantly. The bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and well designed and dressed. The bathroom was a surprise as I didn't expect a full sized bathroom in this property and the design feature of the deep skylight was fantastic. We had read some grumblings on the reviewed about the WiFi but we were on holiday and didn't need it. We had data on our devices and full 5G reception which was a bonus. We managed to watch pre downloaded films etc so it wasn't an issue at all. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if there was anything at all that I would want to change in the future, it could be the addition of secondary glazing for noise reduction. That is only a personal option and it disintegrating impact at all on our stay. This was a new area of Scotland for us to stay and we were so pleased we did. The cottage had all we needed and every detail and eventuality had been thought of. It was terrific! Thank you so much and we can't wait to return.

Tower Lodge is a superb cottage in glorious surroundings on the shore of Loch Awe, with views over the tree tops to the loch.
We have had a fantastic week with visits to Oban and Invarary, we have been to these places before but they never seem to lose their appeal and the fish and chips in Oban are delicious. We were very lucky with the weather which made the whole week much better. The cottage is very light and airy with a great view of the Ancient Castle Keep close by. There is lots of storage for food and clothes with extra bedding if needed. The wood burning stove in the living room was very efficient and warmed the whole house quickly in the chilly evenings, it was really cosy. The owners have conveniently placed a bird feeding station directly outside the living room window, and you can watch the wonderful variety of birds come to feed, it really was fascinating we watched them for hours and also outside on the bench and chairs provided, thr Robin's were particularly tame and almost took peanuts from your hand. There was two little voles that kept popping I and out of their home which made it even better. On our last night we had dinner at the Cruachan Inn, we had a fantastic dinner in fantastic surroundings and views and very efficient staff although they were busy took time out to chat and make the whole evening great. All in all the whole week was a great triumph inspite of the Covid restrictions , thank you Tim and Claire for the use of your fabulous cottage.

Beautiful cottage with everything you need to have a fab holiday.
The log burner was a lovely addition on colder nights but we only used it a handful of times as the cottage is lovely and warm. Well stocked kitchen with all you need including an air fryer! Bedrooms are lovely and spacious with plenty of storage. Throughout the cottage was clean and spotless. The bathroom is lovely and large with a bath and shower. View is beautiful looking over Loch Awe. Yes WiFi can be a bit slow but we got signal no problem. The garden is spacious (not fenced in but we were absolutely fine just watching the dog in and out) and the outhouse with the laundry area was a welcome addition. We went to the Ben Cruachan Inn and it was amazing, the food is so good but definitely book a table as it is small and gets quite busy. There are some gorgeous walks on the doorstep, the walk up to the dam was a hike and pretty rocky but well worth the trek for the views and the cafe across the road is good for a coffee and cake stop. We visited the island of Kerrera by ferry which again is well worth it for the views and the hike around the island, plenty of sheep, highland cows and birds to see! All in all we absolutely loved our stay at Awe View Cottage, it is an amazing find on the doorstep to so many places to explore. Thank you for the kind welcome goodies, we all enjoyed them! The dog included

The Lodge is in a beautiful spot with stunning scenery and surroundings and we had a lovely week despite the weather.
However after a 10 hour journey and wanting to relax I did not expect to have to clean the carpet in the living area or empty the hoover that was full of dog hair and had not been emptied in a while. The carpet was covered in dog hair. So there was no doubt in my mind that it had not been hoovered prior to our arrival, if it had then maybe one should have emptied the hoover beforehand!! Hence the reason for my rating. We are dog owners ourselves and always make sure we leave any cottage as we would like to find it and if that means I hoover every day then I do, and did. As I said at the beginning we had a lovely week and always give good ratings but just felt in this instance I needed to be honest. It would not stop us from returning.

The location was superb, the lodge had everything we needed for our stay.
Remote enough and a good base to explore the surrounding area. In order for supplies, you really need to shop in Oban which is around 20 miles away. The one and only thing that caused both frustration and mild disappointment was the log burner. It just didn't want to keep alight, despite all efforts and lots of firelighters etc. We have a log burner at home and we think it could have been the logs we bought hadn't been dried out enough and/or were too large for the burner itself. We just couldn't get a sound enough ash base to keep it going. Pity. Otherwise we would highly recommend this place for a secluded and laid back holiday. Thank you.
