What our customers say about their holidays

We have just enjoyed a very relaxing week at Bishops Castle Barn.
The Barn is accessed along a single track road then down a private, steep track but its location allows you to enjoy some stunning views in splendid isolation and all less than a mile Bishops Castle. The facilities are excellent from the high spec gadgets in the Barn to the sole use of the excellent large hot tub. The owners of the Barn make you feel very welcome and are on hand if you need them otherwise, your privacy is respected at all times. The setting really is beautiful with far reaching uninterrupted views on your doorstep and from a cleverly framed kitchen window. It almost makes washing the dishes a pleasure! (Although there is a dishwasher too). If you don't fancy driving, there are public footpaths nearby including one into Bishop's Castle itself where The Castle Hotel (and on a sunny day, its garden) and Three Tuns Pub are especially worth a visit. A little more outdoor space that wasn't shared with the sheep would have been nice but there is a lovely decking area by the hot tub and we very quickly felt relaxed and at home which is not something you can always say after a few days away! Many thanks to Tim and Andrea.

Really lovely and cosy barn conversion to stay in.
Bed was very comfortable with lovely covers on. Just what was needed after a long day site seeing. Was very peaceful throughout our stay, wouldnât have known there was other people living on the same premise, other than the occasional farm animal making a noise it was quiet. Would have been nice to have a tv in the bedroom so we could watch tv in bed but i know this is not a make or break decision. Under the bed could do with a good hoover (only found this out as dropped a headphone and came across random objects under the bed and a fair bit of dust). Cottage is 10 minutes away from local shop and really nice chinese takeaway. Wouldnât advise going in a low sitting car as driveway is quite uneven/pot holeây. Not too sure where the enclosed garden was as the garden next to the building is all open so would be unsure whether to take a dog with us if we stay again. Would have been nice for a book with some details about the area, local eateries etc but again, not a massive issue. Would definitely recommend to others as it is a beautiful place to stay

The venue is perfection.
Location is peaceful and relaxing. Layout is perfect, bedrooms downstairs, living area upstairs results in spectacular views enjoyed throughout. Decoration is modern yet still relaxing and comfortable. The bathrooms are state of the art, love the rain showers. The bedroom on ground floor has a lovely knigsized bed, so comfortable. We have slept so well here. Not used the bedroom on lower floor. Star gazing is wonderful, no light pollution. The hot tub has been a real treat. The venue is in the middle of beautiful countryside located via a rural road. Yet only a few minutes from Bishops Castle village. Walks are from the doorstep. We are using the venue to sight see in general and visit more National Trust houses. The surrounding countryside is outstanding whatever direction you travel. There are DVDs, books, games and a drawer full of local information. We are really enjoying our relaxing, recharging time here.

We really enjoyed our stay at Broughton Stables, the perfectly situated converted barn is beautifully renovated and comfortable.
Itâs full of character (ancient oak beams) with great views from the living-room/kitchen across the garden to the hills. Kate the owner (very friendly and approachable) had catered for everything. All the essentials and more. It was clean, airy, fresh and practical with comfortable beds and a lovely on-suite, great for a soak after long walks with the dog. We felt relaxed and at home straight away, we couldnât have asked for more. The barn is in a picturesque and tranquil location with a private garden to enjoy the view, kittens, pet sheep and the stunning night sky. We enjoyed some fabulous walks in the Shropshire hills and trails, the surrounding area is beautiful with so much to discover. We certainly recommend and will book to stay again to discover more of this beautiful county. We returned from our stay relaxed and revived. We have stayed in many cottages and consider this one of the best.

We are delighted to give our personal 5* rating to the Host and the property.
A beautiful setting, quiet but not too remote, easily accessible on a maintained farm track, amidst farm animals, and a short drive to lovely towns, walking trails and the Welsh border. Within the cottage, a well-laid out, compact and very convenient high quality accommodation. The parking spot was clean and conveniently right outside the door - we loved that. We put it near the top of all the rural places we have found on Sykes' website. The beds, bathrooms, bed linen and towels were all excellent quality, as were the white goods. The Wi-Fi was very good, which is one of our important criteria. Struggled a bit with mastering the TV but that was soon sussed ! We hope to visit again.
