What our customers say about their holidays

    Fabulous weekend with the girls.

My oldest school friends and I met in Ludlow to celebrate my birthday. A Friday to Friday booking. Chose Sunningdale after careful research as the places in town centre had difficult and expensive parking and Sunningdale had great parking for 3 cars and only 10 minutes walk to town. Didn’t really clock the place had an added bonus, the games room! We had two nights of fun - juke box, air hockey, pool table and car racing to add to our enjoyment with our cocktail’s. The place warmed up quickly with electric heater even in Feb. All in all a very warm and comfortable house, probably the best equipped kitchen ever had, and once we’d worked out there was no kitchen bin and how to organise ourselves for the 4 types of rubbish we were sorted! Great upstairs bathroom. There’s even a charging station for two electric toothbrushes! Great beds. Luxury towels. And I’ve not even mentioned the home made cake, sweet treats, two bottles of wine and a cream topped milk. We enjoyed the castle, bread walk, river walk, unusual independent shops shopping, fat face, leaf and white stuff, Saturday market plus eating and drinking in Ludlow. Really good place for a girls weekend! Since the price was the same for the weekend as the week I stayed on to work for the week. I now want to live in Ludlow! Good office work space, good Wi-Fi. In the evenings I enjoyed two trips to the cinema (10 minutes walk) and Aqua Aerobics at the leisure centre (20 minutes walk), which I booked about two weeks before my visit no problem. During lunchtimes I nipped into town to get my steps in. Every second Thursday of month there’s the farmers market. But even if you don’t have that you have fabulous cheese, butchers, wine and deli shops everywhere. Only a 10 minutes walk to a massive Tesco if needed. All in all probably the most enjoyable self catering experience ever. Thank you to the hosts next door for sharing your lovely home with us.

We arrived at our cottage as arranged and being given an e mail with helpful information about our stay and also how to use amenities in the Cottage.

Everything that was expected was very accurate and what we expected. We had no problem with the shower area or the three flights of stairs but we are small people and understand how this could be difficult for some people especially with mobility issues. A hand basin would be helpful in the upstairs toilet as mentioned by others. The cottage was compact and clean for us and very olde worlde which we loved. The beds were comfortable and the location was great as it is a short walk away from the town itself. Supermarkets and the railway station are also a 5 minute walk away which is great as car parking is more difficult. The Ludlow brewery was a good find and also easy to get to. We would have been so grateful however if a drop of milk were left so we could have made a cup of tea upon arrival. We did appreciate the history of the street over the centuries in the books that were in the cottage.

Our stay at Sunningdale surpassed all our expectations.

It wasn’t like walking into a holiday rental property, it was more like walking into a dear friend’s lovely home. High end appliances in the amazingly equipped kitchen made it a delight to work in. The house was beautifully decorated and with every amenity you could possibly think of. Spotlessly clean. We were blessed with wonderful weather so spent several evenings in the gorgeous back garden. Off street parking for two cars was great. Sunningdale is only a short walk into the centre of Ludlow and there is a convenience shop only a minutes walk away. Thank you Fred and Margaret for the delicious cakes and the two bottles of wine which we really appreciated. My husband and I highly recommend this delightful place as a Ludlow base.

This is a perfect location for a winter break - well, a break at any time of year actually.

The owner is so friendly and helpful, but also discrete. The grounds and gardens are lovely with the snowdrops just coming through. The ancient Mortimer Forest is accessible over the road and there are all sorts of walks to take: climbing up high for views, winding along stream valleys, short, long, on forest vehicle tracks or on grass walking tracks. So there is always somewhere to go even when it is very wet. Plenty of deer and birds of prey, but mostly silence! The winter light is ever changing and beautiful. Ludlow is a spectacular, historic town to visit with ancient pubs and wonderful country fare. It is the best Sykes cottage we have stayed in so far with extensive views and all the home comforts you could wish for.

Sunningdale has everything for a perfect relaxing holiday.

What a lovely house. The owners have thought of everything to make it feel like "home from home. " A Welcome Pack to greet us consisting of homemade cakes, wine, milk tea, coffee and more. The two shower rooms were a bonus. " There is an Air fryer and other gadgets and no shortage of dishes. We could not find one fault. The Games Room was good on a rainy day. Everything was done to the highest standard. The owners are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. We were sorry to leave as we like Ludlow very much and the cottage is " The Icing on the Cake". This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in and we will look forward to returning.
