What our customers say about their holidays

It was wonderful to stay in a typical terrace house where the slate workers lived in former times.
The house seems to be newly renovated with all modern facilities and comfort. Very cosy for two persons or a small family of four - living room, kitchen and bath on the ground floor, three bed rooms on the top floor. Ideal location to climb the Moelwynion and to explore the old slate ruins in Cwm Orthin and Cwm Croesor above Tanygrisiau. Behind the back yard of the house, the Ffestiniog Railway steams in sighting distance. The small village street in front of the house has regular bus service to Blaenau. The hots cared for many details and even placed some fresh fruits, coffee and tee in the modern kitchen and even wood for the fireplace. When I remember our stay at Holland Terrace, I would like to come back immediately. The only small bit of a pity may be that the steps at the back-side of the house cannot be used to access a small sitting area in the back-yard. So, the only outside sitting area is at the front (street) side of the house. But anyway: There was surely nothing we didn't like.

Had a lovely time in the cottage and surrounding areas.
Gareth the owner was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area and places to go. Kids loved the games room. My kids are 11. Beautiful cottage, peaceful and quiet. We've only rated this cottage as 4 stars not 5, because the back garden could have been more useable for the family with better seating areas and safer ground. Wouldn't recommend for toddlers or small children as lots of slate and shards of porcelin on the ground. Could do with grass or astro turf maybe? Good for medium to large dogs though, as its enclosed. Also, the listing makes this cottage look detached, which it isn't. It has a 1 bed cottage attached. Which wasn't a problem for us. But if you are looking for fully detached, it isn't. The smaller cottage is beautiful inside aswell as Gareth kindly showed us around. I would recommend this cottage, I don't think anyone would be disappointed, the bedrooms lovely and beds comfortable aswell.

We really enjoyed our stay at Holland Terrace.
It was in a prime location for walking, breathing in fresh air and exploring disused mines. The house is cosy, and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Everything was clean and tidy, and it was very quiet. The owners kindly provided some beverages, milk, fruit and some basics for the day we arrived, which was a nice touch. We did not find a corner shop locally, but there are superstores a short drive away in Port Madog. There is a small park opposite and a cafe close-by, which provided a good breakfast. There was a lot to do locally, and both my sons enjoyed a day in the disused mines with "Go Below" which we booked well in advance. We visited Portmeirion, which is lovely but costs £12 to get in. Locally there is Bounce Below indoor trampolining for kids, a zip line for adults and a steam train line that offers great views of the mountains. We definitely recommend this house in such an interesting area.

Cottage was nicely presented, clean and tidy and is in a good position to explore North Wales.
However we found the downstairs space small for 3 adults and a teenager, although it is a three bedroom cottage. Would be ideal for 2 -3 people. No wardrobe in main bedroom. The description said the kitchen table could be open for four however it would be very squashed with one person having to sit in the corridor which leads to the bathroom and another would be sitting with a step behind them. Kitchen was adequately sourced, no drainer or chopping boards. Not a problem if you want to eat out. Had to keep switching on the hot water booster to get any, particularly in the morning and evening. Only outdoor space is at the front of the property but there is a lovely park near by. Unfortunately we had builders in next door from 8am on two of the days. Can highly recommend Zip World which is only 5 minutes away but the steam railway is very expensive.

We absolutely loved the location, the area is beautiful.
We hired the property with the expectation of a washing machine as it was listed in the facilities so we were surprised and disappointed to discover that there wasn't one in the property but there was a shared one available in a nearby building. The mattress on the double bed was of extremely poor quality which meant that we couldn't sleep on it so slept in the 2 single beds instead. The shower cubicle had nowhere to put toiletries so we went out and purchased a shower caddy for less than £4 which made all the difference. The toilet seat did not fit the toilet. We didn't mention these problems as they were not things that could be quickly resolved but unfortunately, they made our stay quiet uncomfortable. For these reasons alone, I am.sorry to say that we wouldn't return to this particular property but would love to stay in the area again.
