What our customers say about their holidays

Jennie & Ian are fantastic hosts.
Very friendly and personable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We felt well looked after and catered for. They went above and beyond for us. The Gate House is a fabulous place to stay to recharge your batteries. Beautiful surroundings. Very interesting history. Inside it has everything you would ever need plus more! Beds & sofas comfortable. Linens, fixtures, fittings, all high quality. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Well stocked kitchen and lovely welcome basket of biscuits & Prosecco! Lots of spare items available such as batteries, plug charger and more. All the type of things you might forget to take away but would have in your own home. The clothes airers were great for towels after the hot tub. All of the cushions and throws in bedrooms and living areas were freshly washed for our stay. The underfloor heating was fab on bare feet! Hot tub brilliant and Jennie popped by to check the chemicals and top up during the week and did let us know first. As a family we had lots of fun in the games room. Karaoke, Air Hockey, Arcade Golf, Table Football plus other bits in the 'Hayloft'. Also board games and cards etc downstairs in living room with a massive coffee table to play them on! Property was secure all round. Outside in the glorious back garden alongside a prestigious hot tub was badminton, a BBQ stand, a lovely chairs and table, a pung pong table and plenty of accompanying bats, balls etc. On the doorstep a tranquil stroll through old church grounds and shops etc all a short car journey away. Being located in the middle of the UK map, it is an ideal location to visit lots of places such as Matlock Bath, Chesterfield, Nottingham and more. There was a really helpful guide folder in the Gatehouse we looked through for places to visit, which also had lots of helpful information eg Chemists, GPS, hospitals, vets, butchers, bakery, etc. By far the best family holiday we have had. Would definitely recommend!

I had booked the Gatehouse for a family get together as a surprise for my husbandâs birthday.
The house was perfect. The bedrooms were beautifully laid out and the beds very comfortable. The downstairs open plan enabled everyone to be together and the kitchen was one of the best equipped I have seen in a holiday home. We were easily able to cook and serve an early Christmas dinner. The hot tub was an added bonus and the small games room in the attic would be ideal for families with children. The owner was easily contactable and very helpful. We much appreciated being able to bring our dogs. I would struggle to find any fault with this property: good position, clean, cosy with very efficient underfloor heating, comfortable, well appointed, beautifully decorated (we especially appreciated the Christmas trees and decorations) good secure garden for the dogs to play safely, even a wine fridge to keep our drinks cool. Our only tiny issue was in knowing how to operate the TV after the youngest members of our group went home but thatâs a generation thing and not a problem with the TV. (Strangely our Jack Russell was terrified of the sound made by one of the remote controls so we gave up on that). I would definitely recommend the Gatehouse and hope to return some time next year. Thank you for a lovely weekend

Ages 41 x 2, 16 x 4, 10, 9 and our 2 dogs.
We have just returned home after a few days at The Gatehouse⦠what an incredible time we have had! The Gatehouse is absolutely beautiful, so full of character and equipped with everything you could possibly need and everything else you hadnât considered! The owner called us prior to stay and was so accommodating, she left us a welcome pack of Prosecco, biscuits, chocolates and dog treats! There was 10 of us in total (8 Humans and 2 dogs) and we were never in each otherâs way, there is so much space and so much to do. The teenagers in particular LOVED the games room in the loft and we all loved the hot tub. My Husband and I stayed in the lower floor bedroom and we loved having the door open to the courtyard and listening to the birds and background noise of Teversal Manor. The kitchen was amazing, we loved cooking big hearty meals for all the kids, it was fab to all get together at night and eat and drink there. The location is beautiful too, Teversal Manor is so full of wonder and history and is maintained immaculately. Thank you Jennie, we really hope to return some day soon.

The weekend is something as a family we have needed.
There was a beautiful welcome hamper on our arrival. Parking for 6 cars if needed. Our journey was difficult with the weather but the owner was on hand and gave us new directions with the flood. Once we were at the house we had the break away we all needed. The house is absolutely beautiful and equipped with everything you could need. Everything had been thought about to make our stay amazing and stress free. The beds are comfy and all rooms of a good size. We had 2 dogs with us and they were catered for too There is a file with information to help with your stay. The hot tub added to our stay and the games room. This break away enabled my children, partners and my husband and I to all be together and have precious family time after the difficult year weâve had. The house gave space at times to be together or space for quiet time too. The walks are beautiful and plenty to suit everyone. I would recommend this house to people and we have actually all ready. We will hopefully be able to come back if itâs free for our next family break away.

A wonderful old mill house, with 4 large bedrooms (2 ensuite).
Warm and comfortable, lots of parking. The host was amazing and left lots of goodies and was very helpful and friendly. This property was perfect for us, working in the area for the week, and good value for money. Directions could be a bit better. Hard to find in the dark, and the small sign to the property not visible from the main road. Google took us past the layby turning. I chose the smaller upstairs bedroom because it had a bedside table and lamp. This would be nice in all bedrooms. Kitchen could be better supplied: no washing up liquid, no spare bin bags (although the host provided these when asked), only one dishwasher pod, no kitchen roll and let down by very poor frying pans, with burnt bottoms. These need replacing really. Wifi was good, and house was wonderfully warm. The hot water was always plentiful, I think we only needed the boost once. Thank you for a great stay
