What our customers say about their holidays

The location was very pretty.
Although not convenient for a walk to a pub for a meal. Or a close shop. It is a property that needs a car. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The cottage was lovely and warm. But, it was a great shame that we had to leave after four nights due to the sofas being so uncomfortable. You hit magma when you sat down.! I did bring pillows down which helped a little. We are active 70+ year olds who prefer a little more support but these sofas locked any support. The cottage was sotless. I am sorry to include the negatives but I have been asked by Sykes to review. We are used to leaving holiday cottages tidy but have never before been asked to strip the bed and put in bags for the cleaner. And to use the garden furniture we were asked to erect the table ourselves and get chairs from a shed. I did look in said shed and didn't fancy doing anything with the "furniture". There was however a comfy bench to the front of the property. Other little niggles that we had would probably not bother someone else. So, all in all it was not a cottage that we would go back to.. When we left we found two nights in a hotel to finish our week. We were lucky with the weather, but not so lucky with the choice of cottage.

Had a great two weeks stay here.
The good weather helped but the location meant we were easily able to get out and about (mainly on foot). There are plenty of things to do as well within a short drive (nature reserves, etc.). Although up the hill from the main centre of the village nothing was too far to walk and the local Nisa shop was well-stocked with Booths only a ten-minute drive away in Milnthorpe. Lots of walks of varying degrees (incl Arnside Knott and the tower) and a train station a ten-minute walk away if you don't want to drive. The location was also very quiet (whereas other places in Arnside we have stayed were less so) with plenty of wildlife visting the garden/patio area to the rear. If it wasn't for the fact that we're moving to Cumbria permanently in the next couple of months this would be our go-to property to stay in this area. It's certainly better value for money than equivalent properties in somewhere like Ambleside and a lot more peaceful. Couldn't really fault it in any way.

This cottage was the perfect location and size for our family of 8, consisting of adults and children, and our Christmas vacation of 10 days.
The facilities within the cottage are well stocked and provided everything needed for comfort and catering. And proper large wine glasses and champagne flutes, this was a treat. Once we understood the heating controls we were cosy and had great 10 nights of sleep with very comfortable beds. Good hot showers in both bathrooms. It accommodates very well for dogs too, it is indeed dog-friendly. It's a well-loved house and we have already booked our 2025 return. The area is just lovely, there's a large sandy beach when the tide goes out at the estuary, which is less than 10 minutes walk from the cottage and a couple of pubs within minutes from the beach. This added to the delight of our strolls out and about. Cottage is perfect for location and accommodation, an all-rounder.

Hats off to the cleaners / owners!
The house was so clean it all seemed like new. It is very well equipped with nice touches such as books on the local walks of which there are many. The bed was very comfy and the house is quiet being set back from the road and well built. Even in a hot week in June Arnside was lovely and quiet. The only queue was Saturday night at the popular Fish & Ships shop just at the end of the Promenade which is recommended! In terms of trips out Leven's Hall is reasonably close by with the house proving to be very interesting as well as the well known gardens. Levens Kitchens which serves food all day is run by some talented chefs. They have very interesting and unusual cakes and can be visited without having to pay to visit the house & garden if you are just passing by.

We had a lovely stay at Willow Cottage.
It is on a quiet road and close to the village centre which has 2 pubs, lovely coffee shop, convenience store and a butchers. There are lovely walks straight from the door and easy access to South Lakes. We found the lounge, beds very comfortable and bathroom and shower great, there was plenty of hot water and heating. The kitchen is a bright and airy social space and leads to a lovely terrace and garden that backs onto a lovely meadow, our small dog was very safely enclosed and fascinated by the cows in the meadow! The sunsets from the terrace was fabulous! The property has undergone a very significant refurbishment and some decorative snags are being sorted out, this in no way deterred from the pleasure of staying at Willow and we will be booking again.
