The cottage was not cleaned we arrived 10 minutes early and knew we would have to wait the owner told us she hadnât hoovered yet so we waited when we got into the cottage it smelt very damp we werenât too concerned as it was described as rustic but we werenât prepared for the unclean cupboards the bathroom could do with a deep clean also the kitchen the door handles were sticky with grease the grill pan had grease and crumbs from the previous people the oven door was filthy the carpets were grubby the tv had a black line running through it so made watching it difficult the blanket box under the bed was covered in dust we also discovered the fridge couldnât have been cleaned as the freezer compartment had the previous peopleâs food left in it and it would have nice if the lawn had been mowed overall we felt let down by this experience and if we hadnât paid we would have left but we stuck it out till the Friday as it was our first holiday since COVID IT WAS NOT CLEANED TO A STANDARD ONE EXPECTS FROM YOUR COMPANY IN ORDINARY TIMES LET ALONE IN A PANDEMIC we had a previous holiday cottage in Scotland which was booked through you and it was everything we hoped for we feel really disappointed our holiday was not what we were hoping for and would not recommend this cottage to anyone

Honest review.
.. location wasnât the best nothing really around apart from 1 pub (for local people) and a londis, closest supermarket about 20 minute drive each way. We did more driving than anything this last week nothing local thatâs any good. Lodge itself. Jacuzzi was brilliant perfect for relaxing after a long drive everyday. Outside furniture seats just left out to ruin in rain which was disappointing. No bbq at the lodge, I think you had to request one from reception. No washing line of any kind to dry towels or bathing suits,(other 2 lodges do have one each) Living room/kitchen open plan good setup all modern appliances in kitchen all work as they should. Donât expect to be able to put a lot in fridge only essentials. Comfy sofa in room and a single chair also tv with freeview reception goes quite a bit but your not there to sit and watch tv. Bedroom 1 3 quarter bed very comfortable little wardrobe and plenty drawer space. Bedroom 2 two single beds again comfy and enough storage. Shower room. Shower wouldnât drain properly and had a leak. Toilet and basin as expected. Overall 6/10 was ok probably wouldnât stop again as location too far from anywhere but that was my fault when booking not Sykes. Looking forward to our next holiday in Newquay with Sykes though.

This was the second time I've stayed there.
This time for 4 weeks. I think that says it all ! The cottage was spotlessly clean when I arrived with my 5 large dogs. There was plenty of room for all of us, although the cottage was incredibly cosy. A new wood burner & a starter pack of logs, kindling,, firelighters, & matches welcomed ggʻme. .. The finer detail very important to me as I do not drive, so was unable to "pop out to the shops". Naomi & Kevin are super people & a great lover of animals which means a lot to me. They were always on call immediately, but not intrusive.A spectacular view of the immense countryside added to the relaxation of the holiday. Cottage was very well equipped, but if I was going to "nit pick" I would just say that a second smaller frying pan, would have been handy, as being on my own, the one & only very large one was a nuisance at times. Also more cleaning materials as I wanted to leave the cottage as I found it. My dogs love it there, & if they're happy, I'm happy. I was very lucky to find a very reliable, reasonable local dog walker who knew the land well so I used him for the past 2 years. He used to take them out for 2 hours everyday. A Godsend for me. All in all, a very great holiday & I cannot wait to return.

Well presented cottage with a good level of amenities including a well equipped kitchen.
Great quality beds and showers, very comfortable. We visited to spend time with family who live in the village but also had nice days out. No issues parking for us, also used the great bus service and trains from Redruth. Couple of minor issues, the addition of a handrail on the stairs would be helpful , especially for night time trips to the downstairs loo. Sleep was often broken by the church bells opposite chiming every hour, as lovely as they are, it took me a full week to adjust to them . Having some recycling bags to put out with the rubbish would also be good. I bought some smaller mugs (left them there for others) as the gorgeous ones supplied were too much for myself and mother in law. The vacuum cleaner was very smelly when I tried using it, the bag was full to bursting , with no other bags supplied. We also found on our first morning that both bathroom sinks and the wet room drain were blocked so they didn't drain. I couldn't understand how cleaners had not noticed this ? Cleared them and purchased drain unblockers which seemed to do the job. We have stayed in a few cottages in the village over the years and this is by far the nicest .

The Threshing barn is set in a lovely village location perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful holiday. It is about 20 minutes to Truro and Falmouth and also to Porthtowan beach, where you can book surfing lessons and there are cafes/restaurants, beach shops and toilets. As a family of 4 (children aged 15 and 12) the size of the barn was ideal and with 2 bathrooms there were no arguments! I would suggest some hooks to be added in the bathrooms for dressing gowns/ towels to be hung. There were plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobes. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped!The outside space is lovely and well-maintained, the patio area has seating and a BBQ - unfortunately the weather didn't permit us to enjoy the outdoor area! There is also two car spaces and a games room with a table tennis table, this area is shared with the cottage on the grounds. We had an issue with the oven the day after we arrived and customer services were very efficient and it was sorted the next working day and It didn't stop us from having a wonderful holiday at the Threshing Barn.
