What our customers say about their holidays

This is a good place for a short stay, we booked a week but left early.
Could do with a small chest of drawers/dresssing table as there is no where to put undies and bits and pieces and no where to comfortably dry hair etc. Glad there were only two of us as 4 must be a bit cramped the second bedroom is particularly short on space around the bed. Whilst on the subject of bedrooms, didn't appreciate the mattress protector having a plastic backing with the temperature being what it was it was so uncomfortable. There is no freezer just a small fridge with an ice box so if you've brought stuff for a weeks stay its totally inadequate. The microwave is in a cupboard and is very tricky to manage hot food out of cupboard and onto kitchen worktop - needs to be moved there is room on the worktop if the coffee machine is relocated. Could do with some covered microwave dishes as a pyrex bowl with a rather clumsy plate on top added to the problem. Outside furniture isn't very comfortable either. TV's okay if all you want to watch is catch-up and box sets. Finally able to get BBC news. I think the owners are new to this and I'm sure over time things will improve, I'm sorry we didn't get what we paid for. On a good note there are two lovely pubs in walking distance and the local people are lovely and friendly.

We had a lovely stay, thanks so much!
There were a few things that would have been useful to have at the cottage but it did not really affect our stay. I definitely think a wardrobe/chest of drawers and a dressing table would make use of the empty space in the main bedroom. Some coat hooks next to the front door would be useful. A shelf in the upstairs toilet, a poker for the fire, some wooden spoons for cooking, and an extra tray for the oven (Iâm vegetarian but my husband isnât so we had to cook separately). The skylight windows could do with blinds, we woke up early because of the light coming into the room. Same with the patio door, our dogs woke up early because of the light. These are honestly just little things that would have been helpful and that other guests might benefit from but all in all we had a lovely time and would stay again if ever in the area.

Just back from a 2 night break at Avonmede.
We had a lovely time - the cottage was very cute and cozy, well equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. The owners had left a welcome basket with butter, jam, marmalade, biscuits, bread and even a bottle of wine for us and provided a dog bed, biscuits and blanket for our pooch, which were all thoughtful touches. We thought it was funny that the dog bed was really for a much smaller dog than our German Shepherd but she tried to get into it nonetheless! The property is well positioned to easily walk around the town and down along side the river and is within easy reach of several pubs - one right opposite, which was very handy and dog friendly too. The hot tub is an added bonus, and it was lovely to relax in it after our long day out walking. I will be recommending to my friends and family with dogs - most excellent.

We booked this property as it looked ideal for us to explore the area, it certainly didn't disappoint.
Quirky with character, all you required to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The layout was well thought out and the property owners who live next door and also run the local convenience store located to the front of their property were always available if needed. On arrival they met us with open arms and by the time we left I felt I had known them for many years having chats in their lovely old shop, they were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. We visited a couple of national trusts not that far away plus a bit of sight seeing, weather behaved during the day so we made the most of it. If you are looking for a relaxing break in a sleepy chocolate box village and have no major mobility issues I suggest give this place a try, you will love it. Hope to return at some point in the future..

I am so glad that I booked The Wainscott.
The cottage was beautiful and the hosts were friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. The grounds were stunning. We played a bit of tennis (badly) on the shared tennis court. We saw two families of Goslings. We found the tree house and the swing. And took great pleasure in walking around the grounds. The fresh eggs we purchased from Mrs Mitchell were delicious. You can really taste the difference. Mrs Mitchell also makes a variety of Jams. I have purchased two flavours. Oh and the hosts were amazing as they provided us with a pint of milk and also a plate of Tiffins upon arrival. Mrs Mitchell also baked us a cake we ordered from her. Overall, my experience was fantastic and I will be returning once again I hope. Thank you Mr and Mrs Mitchell for everything
