What our customers say about their holidays

The Old Mission Hall is perfectly described, in a stunning secluded location ideally situated to see as much as possible of this beautiful island there is plenty of space for parking and we had no issues at all.
This is, without doubt, the most well-equipped cottage we have ever stayed in and there have been many, it was also spotless - thank you to your wonderful housekeeper Karis - you deserve a pay rise ;). The welcome pack was amazing again the best we have ever received. The decking at the rear was perfect for relaxing or eating outside (we were lucky enough to sit out every evening and watch the local wildlife) and the conservatory was a perfect location to watch the setting sun/wildlife. There is even a spotting scope which is a fantastic addition. We were blessed with amazing weather but the cottage has loads of touches that would make days enjoyable if the weather wasn't so kind from books to board games cd player tv etc. Internet connection is perfectly adequate and allowed us to do all we needed (if you want a high-speed connection don't holiday in rural Scotland!) The addition of a landline gives security in the event connection/signal drops though we had no issues at all. We brought some basic food items with us and filled the car before our ferry but honestly wish we hadn't bothered as fuel was cheaper on the island and food prices were comparable with the mainland's, two large supermarkets in Stornoway, and loads of 'local smaller shops' meant we got everything we needed. A beautiful bathroom with an amazing shower and a lovely comfortable bed made this wonderful cottage in a perfect location one of the most amazing holidays we have ever had, Thankyou

Weâre just home from a fantastic week at Old Mission Hall.
The directions and general information pack we were sent ahead of our stay were very helpful and contained lots of helpful tips for our stay. The cottage itself was tucked away down a track with ample parking available. The cottage and garden is very private, in no way overlooked and has a beautiful view over the loch. The unenclosed part of the garden featured a regular pair of sheep visitors who accessed the space from the loch who were very entertaining! Watch out for the sheep pop they leave though! The cottage itself is incredibly well equipped - and the welcome basket was lovely. It also had all the things which are so often missing in self catered stays but make a stay so much more comfortable. A kitchen with proper trays and knives, and tin foil etc. And a dog friendly cottage that felt actually friendly from than just tolerating - doggy bowls, poo bags, a spare crate etc. Apologies for any sane we left as we had daily trips to different beautiful beaches! The place was very well appointed for all your practical needs as well - good water pressure for the shower, lots of sockets and spare chargers, internet and a smart tv for watching on an evening. We were blessed with some good weather in our week - which did mean that like all conservatories, it got a bit warm in there! A lovely stay in a lovely cottage - thanks for having us.

Our stay at Old Mission Hall was truly remarkable and exceeded all our expectations!
From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm and character of this lovely property. It provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable family getaway. What truly stood out was how much my family loved the experience. There were plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, from exploring the surrounding area to cozy evenings spent together. The location is also fantastic, with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere that made it easy to disconnect and recharge. We were thoroughly impressed by the attention to detail and the welcoming vibe throughout our stay. It felt like a home away from home, and we cherished every moment we spent there. Without a doubt, we are already planning our return to Old Mission Hall. Itâs a special place that holds a special spot in our hearts, and we canât wait to create more beautiful memories there. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delightful escape! Karen and Kathleen, thank you both from us all.

Old Mission Hall is in an absoutely stunning lochside location, with an abundance of birdlife and rumours of a local otter.
The cottage is adorable, with a lovely cosy bathroom, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, brilliantly equipped kitchen (spice rack included!) and a gorgeous warm conservatory from which to overlook the loch. The bedroom is spacious with a very comfortable bed. A back door from the bedroom leads onto lochside decking, a great place for a beer in the sunshine! The best welcome pack I've seen awaited our arrival. Old Mission Hall is a fantastic base for exploring both north into Lewis and south into Harris. In the area we found plenty of walks to take on the walkhighlands website. We saw maybe a dozen golden eagles, a sea eagle, a couple of otters, a basking shark (at Renish point), a merlin and numerous deer and seals. We found tasty treats at Croft 36, Taste'n'Sea truck stop and at the Harris and Lewis smokehouse in Stornoway. I cannot recommend Old Mission Hall highly enough. We were heartbroken to be leaving at the end of an amazing week!

Old Mission Hall is a hidden gem.
The first thing we noticed as we stopped outside was the silence, there was no noise at all. We went inside and it was the cleanest place we have ever stayed in, the welcome pack that was left for us was fantastic, there was enough for 6 and there was only 2 of us. There was everything you could need in old Mission Hall and it was all good quality even the dogs were thought about. The bed was lovely to sleep in, really comfortable and waking up and opening the curtains to the view of the Loch and surrounding countryside was heaven. Karen the housekeeper is lovely she made us feel really welcome when we met her. Old Mission Hall is a place I could call home and it was hard to leave there. The isle of Lewis is a beautiful place and everyone we met were so friendly and proud of where they lived. We will be back soon. You can see how popular Old Mission Hall is when you try to find a gap in the bookings.
