What our customers say about their holidays

The Coach House was part of a building that had a central courtyard that was charming.
Although there were two steps to access the property the accommodation was all on one floor with no steps inside and the rooms were spacious and not cluttered so it makes a good holiday for people, like me, with mobility needs. It was extremely well fitted out with both dish washer and washer/dryer plus standards like micro wave oven, toaster and DVD player. Liz and Mike were also very helpful, assisting me to unpack my vehicle, arranging for somewhere undercover to park my mobility scooter overnight and charge it. They also sorted any and all queries, or issues I had during my stay. The area is very good for a number of differing reasons, historic, walking, within reasonable distance of Edinburgh, Hadrianâs Wall and other places. The local town of Berwick also has a lot to interest, besides Ye Olde Superstore Morrisons, the town walls, castle (remains of), battlements and buildings. I spent several days there and still did not cover all I wanted to see. A gem I found was The Union Chain Bridge, the oldest suspension bridge still in use in Europe, however, despite its antiquity and historic value very few people seemed to know of its existence and it had few visitors. I loved my holiday, if I come back to the area I will certainly see if The Coach House is available.

Whilst the apartment was spacious and superficially clean, there were so many issues that needed attention that it left us feeling very letdown.
I will list some of the issues here although many of them have already been mentioned in previous reviews. . Bathroom mirror is tiny. . Bathroom lighting is poor. . Bathroom window doesn't open. .Toilet cistern mechanism difficult to flush. . Windows all need cleaning. .Mould on bedroom ceiling. .Garden and surrounding areas poorly maintained. .The information sheet was buried in a great pile of pamphlets and didn't give any advice on the heating. .One of the heaters wasn't working. .The boiler cupboard was messy and dirty. .Quite a few items not supplied/not enough quantity. . Examples- toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, washing up detergent, dishcloths, tea towels, general cleaning fluid . The whole place felt unfriendly and unwelcoming. There wasn't any contact from the owners and even the cleaners just walked right past without even a nod. I noticed from previous reviews that the owners suggested that they would be happy to sort out any issues. When I book holiday accommodation, I really do think it is reasonable to expect to arrive to find everything nicely sorted. I don't expect to have to contact the owners and then sit around waiting for things to be rectified, especially when arrival time is 5.00pm and departure time is 9.00am. Colin (Australia)

Overall, the cottage was near perfect for us.
Liz, the owner came and introduced herself and let us know to get in touch if there were any problems. She lives and works on the grounds and it was comforting to know that she was on hand if we needed her. My only issues (and this is personal preferences, by no means an indication of the quality of the cottage) was the beds were too hard and the armchair in the lounge is quite small and also quite hard to sit on. I have read reviews complaining about the dogs barking. We did hear the dogs, but it seemed to be only when someone was on the drive. We didnât experience any of the constant barking that other reviewers have complained about. The fireplace in the lounge is amazing and the kitchen is fully equipped. If there had been 2 small sofas in the lounge instead of the sofa and chair I would have given top marks for everything but as Iâve said, that is personal preference. We will definitely look to booking back into this cottage at some point.

We had a delightful stay at the Coach House - very handy for touring in the Eastern Scottish Borders (Berwickshire Area) and the South East of Scotland & North East of England coastline towns & villages.
Good facilities throughout and well kitted out - everything you need in the kitchen, besides the fridge there is freezer, dishwasher and washing machine - so great scope for longer stays (we stayed one week). A couple of points to note: the bath is very high (not so good for the elderly) and there is no grab rail once in the bath (again, not so good for the elderly) - I'm nearly 75 so I'm offering my experience. Having said that, my wife and I had a lovely time at this cosy holiday let. I recommend this cottage but warn less fit people of the difficulties in getting in and out of the bath and staying safe whilst showering. Maybe the owners will add a grab rail sometime soon which would go a long way to overcoming such difficulties. The owners were great and kindly and were on hand to sort out any problems should any have arisen. I would, despite my difficulties, stay here again in the future.
