What a fabulous place to stay.
The property has everything we needed and was in such a peaceful location. The hot tub was the cherry on the cake. The owners were lovely and made us feel so welcome. All the little items provided at the start of our holiday were a lovely touch. There is nothing to fault and I really hope we will be back next year. You get used to the narrow roads and they are worth it for the beautiful location of the property. It was a real wrench to leave and we had such a relaxing time. There are a couple of lovely pubs a few minutes drive away situated on Bow Creek another lovely setting. I recommend The Maltsters Arms for great food and service (Keith Floydâs old pub). The hosts were so helpful with where to go and what to do and we made the most of the advice. Most places less than 20 miles away and little more than 30 minutes drive. We visited Dartmouth, Totnes, Salcombe, Bantham, East Prawlthorpe, Gara Rock and Hope Cove to name a few. Great coastal walks with stunning views. The Round Robin trip was also a great day out with open top bus from Totnes, Steam Train, Ferry, a stop in Dartmouth and a Dart river cruise back to Totnes. Highly recommended it. Lovely stay at this little apartment , greeted by the friendly owner Julian and arrived to a little welcome pack of milk, bread, butter , pastries and a nice chilled bottle of RoÅe wine .
Great little place , very clean and very comfortable with a nice hot tub and balcony to eat outside . Huge bathroom with both a great bath and good sized walk in shower ..nice selection of dvds , books and board games available to use .. lots of good walks in the area .. we walked to the Maltsters pub and had a good lunch here .. but our favourite find was the Watermans Arms a bit further up the river .. best meal of the week here , closely followed by Rockfish in Dartmouth . Really enjoyed our stay , thank you . We definitely recommend a stay here if you are looking for a peaceful , quiet , relaxed break .

They were helpful in providing useful information on the local area. Also we appreciated the various supplies left throughout the apartment. The apartment was to a very high standard with high quality fixtures and fittings.The bathroom was amazing with good attention to detail. The location is good for lots of visits and whilst we knew the property was in a rural location we were not made aware of how narrow the lanes were until we received key collection details were received. We believe this should have been highlighted in the online details.

Our stay at Higher Gitcombe Lodge was a wonderful experience.
The property is very well fitted out and in immaculate condition. The bathroom is so well designed and beautifully warm thanks to underfloor heating. The large bedroom has plenty of storage and is blessed with a large bed that is so comfortable. The excellent living room opens to a large balcony with wonderful views. Totally independent of the family home, the owners are available to give advice. We loved the visit and would recommend a stay at the lodge to anyone wishing to explore the Torquay, Buckfastleigh, Dartmouth and Totnes region.

Thank you for the welcome pack left for us in the fridge and the bread and cakes, all much appreciated. Only one suggestion to make. There is nowhere to store food, so a bread bin and a small cupboard over the work top would be very handy. The location although remote makes for a very peaceful and relaxing stay with a great choice of pubs and restaurants close by. Dartmouth is only a short drive away and for shopping there is a supermarket even nearer. We loved our week here so much we are hoping to return next year.
