What our customers say about their holidays

This feedback is long overdue as my father and I have been staying here for several years now and call it our home away from home.
A truly fabulous cottage in a magical setting of woodland; perfectly situated between the town and the cove; in the heart of everything; and yet its tranquil surroundings ensure you have the most peaceful stay. The cottage itself is very large and spacious, and well equipped for everything you require...cooking, eating (at the large dining table) or outside on the rear garden terrace when that Cornish sun shines through until early evening; relaxing in the living room with a super TV, DVDs or games; even have a strum on the guitar that resides there (thank you for spurring me on to pick up my own when I returned back to normality!); two fabulous bathrooms upstairs - the en suite particularly grand! And everything else one would want to see - with that all-important parking space, along with a washing machine and clothes airers after coming back from the cove with an array of wet beach-wear.... The hosts pay particular attention to making your stay as comfortable as possible, with milk, bread, and freshly ground coffee for the coffee machine (and a bottle of champagne!) to greet you. Attention to detail is what makes all the difference. And they know exactly how to make you feel welcome. St Agnes itself is a pretty little town with everything you would want within a five minute walk of the cottage. Delicious bakeries; delicatessen; two small but well equipped supermarkets; pharmacy; butchers; and food outlets and pubs to cover all tastes and needs - including a fish and chip shop with generous portions! The cove area also offers eateries and places to sit and watch the world go by.... My particular favourite pastime - taking a coffee down to the cove first thing in the morning to watch the early morning sun appear over the cliff - if you're lucky you may see the odd seal frolicking in the surf! A real treat! Thank you for allowing my father and I a piece of this Cornish heaven. We will return for many years to come.

The property at 21 British Road, St.
Agnes has great 19th century character, with original features and retro-contemporary decor. It was conveniently located for access to nearby Chapel Porth beach and the surrounding, dramatic coastal landscape, amenities in the village centre and to the main routes out towards Truro and the scenic Roseland peninsular on the south coast. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay here. However, there were a few shortcomings. Despite the generous offer of Prosecco on arrival, there was NO WELCOME BOOK with any guides and instructions as is normally provided in holiday let accommodation. As I am not familiar with the Nest smart heating system, we found it difficult to control the central heating. There was no advice on the disposal and recycling of rubbish. NO BEDSIDE LAMP provided - due to no nearby wall socket - in the main âposter bedâ bedroom, where my elderly mother slept - I had to use the floor lamp from the lounge! Car parking was a real, inconvenient hassle every day - having to constantly walk up and down the steep, one way street hill / road with bags etc. with vehicles constantly driving round the bend as there was never a space available opposite the house - having to drive round the block all the time! Constant thoroughfare traffic made it a relatively noisy environment offering little incentive to sit outside in the pleasant front courtyard. We had a great time away in this region of Cornwall yet the points raised above made our experience not as relaxing as it should have been.

The house and garden is really lovely.
But sadly the cleanliness of the property was not great. This was nothing to do with the owners but the cleaners that are sent their by Sykescottages. Unfortunately we had exactly the same problem when we stayed in another one of the propertyâs on your list in at agnes. The bathrooms had not been cleaned properly, I believe maybe a very quick go over but not a full clean. Hairs left in the sink and shower. Soap marks not wiped off the shelf above the sink in the en suite and on the shelf by the window in the small bathroom. We cleaned this ourselves. Cups and plates and cutlery had not been checked as some had been out away dirty. Possible mention to the owners, if this has also been mentioned before â¦The twin bed mattressâs are not the most comfortable⦠all four people that slept in them, didnât sleep well. This of course could be just the mattresses those four are used to⦠canât please everyone! Apart from that the cottage is lovely and well stocked for everyoneâs needs.

We have just returned from a lovely week break in Lanes End house, Cornwall, St Agnes.
The property we rented was brilliant. Very comfortable and extremely well equipped. It was a lovely place to stay, lovely views over the fields and some sea views from bedroom windows too. The couple who met us at the house were very nice people, informative and helpful Thank you.., They had done a wonderful job on the house when we arrived. The beach was down the road down a pleasant country road. Everything was perfect and we even had fantastic weather. The road the house is on is very old worldy, exactly how we imagined St Agnes to be. We enjoyed all the beaches there but our favourite was Chapel Porth, very laid back and just a lovely place to be. Surf boarding with my lads i could of been anywhere. Bliss. I didn't want to come home, if i could afford it i would buy this place and stay for good! We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend to any one who is looking for a relaxing break in Cornwall. Thanks a lot ....Mark Wenham

First time staying in Porthtowan with our families and found it the perfect location/ base to explore from. The cottage was beautiful, clean and well equipped. First time we haven't had to go our to buy anything that we needed. The beds were so comfortable and having multiple showers, WC's helped a party size such as ours hugely. Porthtowan is stunning, small, quaint and met all of our needs. As we ventured out most days, we didn't get to sample the restaurants or bars. We enjoyed trips out to Lands End, St Ives, Falmouth, St Agnes, Truro, Penzance and Newquay. All very different and enjoyable. Highly recommend a day trip to Tintagel. Lots of lovely walks in Porthtowan especially the views! All in all, we would recommend staying at the cottage again. Cornwall Hideaways have been fabulous and we loved the welcome package. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful cottage!
