What our customers say about their holidays

This was our second visit to 1 South cottages.
It's perfect for us and dog! Very cosy, and warm [despite storm Darraugh] well equipped, and a fantastic location close to the beach and quiet. Both visits provided real R&R from work tension. Thank you for the lovely welcome basket on the kitchen table. Bed very comfortable and lovely hotel level towels. Somehow the cleaning service forgot to put a pillow case on one of the pillows, and the pillow protector looked a little marked- which was not so nice to see- but as we only needed one pillow each that was fine. [i put it on top of the wardrobe.] We loved the christmas tree and associated decoration in the sitting room, that made it feel welcoming too. The stairs are steep, we knew this, and we are very mobile so no issue for us. We were pleased they had been attended to since our last visit, and were more sturdy and had even been carpeted. The Latter did make the treads even narrower but as I said we have no mobility issues with feet, hips or knees. I think if we did, either we'd have to sleep in the gust room opposite the courtyard, or this would not be ideal place for us. We had one problem in that the drains in the bathroom were very smelly after a shower , but particularly with the bath. I took a bath just once on last day. As I sank into the warm bubbles, an awful smell came up through the overflow. I just could not stay in it; it was awful. If this is a new problem i am certain someone will sort the trap out, but it was a pretty bad smell and needs attention asap! Overall a super little cottage, and an enjoyable stay.

We arrived at the back of the property and parked, before I even had my seatbelt off, the neighbour jumped on me about parking.
Strongly advised me not to park because my car will be scratched. Your car will be scratched throughout your holiday if I stayed parked there. But if I want to park there I had to park behind our own cottage. At this point I couldnât because another car was parked there. She made me ring to ask them to move. The persons who car came out refused to move and advised different advice that you can park anywhere. There was a space behind his cottage. When I asked if ok if I park there as I didnât plan on moving my car for the whole holiday and where the space was down the end I wouldnât be blocking anyone in. He said I wasnât allowed as he wouldnât be able to get his bike or buggy through so Iâm not allowed. Even though there was space. I was not happy that at this point the start of my holiday where I have rented a cottage with a parking space I hadnât even entered the cottage but been harassed by both neighbours and been given wrong advice. I ended it with I believe I was able to park there but they said my car will be scratched like it was a promise. I felt intimidated by their behaviour. I called best of Suffolk about 4.30 on the Friday we arrived. Spoke to a girl who said she would ring me back. I even said due to poor signal can she ring or email me back. Iâve heard nothing from your company. Iâm not impressed with your customer service either. The cottage itself was fine. Clean and well done. The advert needs to be clearer about parking arrangements.

Adleburgh Cottage.
5 stars for us. A short 4 night break with the dogs. Aldeburgh Cottage was perfect for two adults. Kitchen well equipped, brilliant oven and dishwasher. Nice that they left clean Tea Towels, and scouring pad and dishcloths. Owner has taken care of this little cottage, downstairs bathroom v nice. Living room v cozy. Little Smart tv fine, v comfy settee. Upstairs master bedroom, rustic and nice, the ensuite is great, the shower was different to what we are used too, but it was fine, got you clean. Take a shower cap if you donât want wet hair. The twin room not used by us but looked ok for small kids. The stairs are steep but expected for this type of cottage, if you are tall be prepared to duck in a few places. Brilliantly located at end of lovely high street, lots of shops, restaurants and nice pubs. Two mins from lovely beach stroll, dogs not allowed on town part of beach between May - Sept 30th but ok by the scallop sculpture check the signs. Lovely walk to Thorpness about 3 miles. Parking is tight at the rear of the cottage and appears to be on first come basis or a shuffle around between cottages. Plenty of side street parking. Would love to book for xmas time, or another short break in Aldeburgh. Highly recommended

Great location overlooking the beautiful Mere, and if youâre lucky you can park outside the cottage.
This cottage could have been so much better with a few additions to it. We were there for our nieces wedding, so getting dressed up for the wedding is all part of the fun, but no mirror on the dressing table for applying the makeup,no full length mirror on the back of the wardrobe door for a final inspection, need to be extra careful on the very narrow stairs, I know because of the age of the cottage they are narrow, we have friends in the village that have a similar cottage and they have a handrail addedâ¦a lot safer. As soon as we opened the front door we could smell pets have been visiting,ok, know we are a nation of dog lovers, but the 2 blankets in the living area need to be washed or changed for new ones. Finally the small patio set in the front needs a parasol to sit under when enjoying the sunshine and the views over the lovely Mere. So, to sum up, we stayed for 9 nights, paid a lot of money for the stay, and have paid less in much nicer cottages, sorry, Ron and Beverley.

We enjoyed our stay at Aldeburgh Cottage, but on our arrival the following points needed attention: 1 The television didnât work.
Was showing âno signalâ. Took 2 visits by Jacob to sort it out. 2: The string of lights over the kitchen sink didnât work. 3: The bedside lamp in the twin bedroom kept flickering. The lower oven didnât come up to temperature and the bulb had died. Also: 4: The window in the double bedroom doesnât open- it has been painted shut. I note that another guest has also noted this. Please rectify this as the room was very stuffy in hot weather. 5: There were only 4 forks: need a few mor 6: There were only 3 drinking tumblers (for a cottage for 4 people?) 7: The gutter above the kitchen door was blocked with detritus. 8:There was a cracked pane in the kitchen window(Jacob made a note of this). 9: The little cap on the cold water tap in the en suite kept coming off. 10: The cottage was very clean but there was a huge cobweb in the downstairs bathroom!
