What our customers say about their holidays
Liz - Verified booking
Pros * Communication with owner was excellent, very informative and friendly.
* Lovely place - the views are just stunning all the way around the house. * Out of the way - so peaceful, if you want to get away from it all - this is the place. * Hot tub is fab, sheer luxury after a days walking. * Heating panels are very clever idea and look great. Such beautiful pictures, you would never guess they were heaters unless you knew - very effective too. * Beautifully appointed house, so much room - fab for a family holiday/get together. * The views are spectacular and itâs a birdwatchers paradise - red kites, jays, robins, thrush and many more, just fantastic. * Comfy sofas and beds - but super king has a quilt that only just fits across the bed so if your partner rolls over with the quilt you are without any. * Great area for walkers too and dogs. * No phone signal - great to get away from it all. Suggestions: * Canopy over hot tub for rainy days? * Rainy day play area, young ones got a bit fed up when it was pouring down all day one day - yes we did go for a walk with them to expend some energy but it would have been nice to have an area under cover to play with some large bricks or cars or something in. They brought their bike and scooter, so a bit of a flat, undercover area for them to use them in would be great. * Itâs off the beaten track so get a delivery of food or take lots with you. The local Tesco in Pontardawe deliver there, which is perfect. Cons * Lots of rules in âwelcome packâ which was a bit off putting and not very welcoming! * Off road a bit, can be awkward if you meet another vehicle. Not great for low profile cars, very bumpy track. * Very hot on arrival - Panels were on 24 and 26 in our bedroom, far too hot for us we ended up turning the top bedroom one off at night. * Wi-Fi great at first, then once people arrived at the cabin across the courtyard it went off, then came back once theyâd gone! It didnât happen again when the next people arrived though - very odd?! * £10 charge for fire supplies does not include enough fire lighters so if you allow fire to go out overnight itâs tricky to relight it the next day - on a very damp day this box only lasted the day and the fire was out by 4pm! * No washing machine, we would have preferred a washer to the dishwasher as we can always wash up by hand - wet muddy dog towels and nowhere to clean or dry them. Also when staying with little ones itâs nice to be able to wash and dry clothes if needed - they can get very messy. * Mattress protector and sheet are a bit small too and kept coming off at the corners on super king bed. * My pet hate - Dirty toilet brushes! * Itâs all a bit tired in places - e.g. grouting in bathrooms/sealant round sink in kitchen. * Bed guards for twin room would have been a good idea as they are very high for young children our 32 month old grandson fell out of bed and bumped his head. * Shower just off boot room - only static shower canât use it to wash dogs off. No heat in boot room where all wet dog stuff and wet coats are - Radiator and towel rail can not be switched on! Therefore not easy to get dogs clean in boot room. Rules state you must clean them off before they go into the house after a muddy walk - of which there were a few!! But itâs not easy to do so. * If dog friendly - why no dogs on furniture and upstairs? Itâs supposed to be home from home. Our little dog sleeps upstairs at home, fortunately our sons Labrador was also with us so she was fine in the boot room with her, but if she hadnât had company she would have cried all night.

We had a lovely time at Ysgubor Hir.
Dawn is friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome. We found the beds very comfortable and warm and the kitchen well stocked with whatever you need for cooking. There is a large family bathroom and the large king size room has an en-suite. There is a nice double room next to the bathroom and a shower room off the utility room (through the kitchen). There are 11 steps leading up to the attic room where the twin beds are. Something to be aware of if you have mobility issues or young children (but we did notice a stair gate in the cupboard should you need it) this is a lovely light spacious room with a great view out of the Velux windows. There are sloping ceilings either side in this room though, so mind your head! Also no door so sound does carry. My husband and I slept in this room and we were very comfortable and slept really well. The lounge is spacious as is the well equipped kitchen. There is seating outside at the back for 6 which we made good use of. Lovely views across the fields, (11 young cows in the front field) and plenty of space for parking. Pontarddulais is a town (we were expecting a village) so pleasantly surprised to find a Tesco with petrol station, where we were able to get all we needed for the week. Chips shops, pubs, cafes etc are not too far away. We visited Tenby which has a lovely selection of shops but very busy especially during the lunch time period. Saundersfoot is lovely and quieter and 3 miles from Tenby, probably better for meals too. We visited the Mumbles and had a lovely meal at The Woodman. Clyne Park is well worth a visit and is free. We visited the tropical zoo and would have done the botanical gardens, but too much walking for two of our party. All in all we had a lovely peaceful relaxing week and would definitely recommend it. Thank you Dawn it was a pleasure meeting you.

This property was very spacious and luxurious.
The beds and settees were very comfortable and there was quality furniture everywhere. The owners had put a lot of thought into making this accommodation comfortable and practical for their guests. There was hooks on the bedroom and bathroom doors, towels,, tissues , kitchen roll, toilet rolls and soap for guests to use which was so helpful. I found the utility room where the boiler was a very useful area to dry wet coats and clothes, and there was an airier for guests to use. There was also a washing machine and dishwasher in the kitchen although I didnât use these. The kitchen was lovely with a large oak dining table and chairs and several cupboards with plenty of crockery and everything you need in a kitchen and also an island giving you more preparation room. This property would be ideal for families with children as there were two beds upstairs in the attic conversion which would be an exciting area for youngsters to sleep, and outside there was a grass area fenced an ideal play area and also a tarmac area where we parked the car where children could also play. The bedrooms were nicely furnished , one had a bathroom next door , and one had a shower en-suite and there was another shower and toilet next to the utility room. There was also a book shelf full of books and dvds and games and puzzles for guests to use. This property was easy to get to as it was near the motorway and not far from several beaches and interesting areas to visit. I would recommend this property as a lovely place to stay. Happy holidays to everyone.

This property is a hidden gem!
A perfect location, hidden away but close enough to be able to visit plenty of sights within the area. The property was huge with ample parking space and plenty of room to accommodate 5 in comfort. The facilities were well appointed, with a well-stocked range of kitchen implements and utensils, the washing machine was very welcome, and the underfloor heating kept us toasty warm. The welcome from the owner was warm, with a nice welcome pack. Bedding and linen was clean, comfortable - special mention to the lovely sheets used throughout. I can thoroughly recommend Ysgubor Hir to anyone visiting the area and wishing to either relax away from it all, or to use the property as a base with which to explore further. The only thing I would have liked to have seen added would be a hot tub, although I appreciate that isnât for everyone, and please donât let a lack of one make you miss out on what is essentially a fabulous property in a great location.

We had a great break at this wonderful cottage.
Dawn was the perfect hostess and made us feel very welcome and the welcome basket was a lovely surprise after a long drive. The cottage itself is clean, spacious, comfortable and has everything we could ask for. Even when the weather turned particularly stormy forcing us to stay in, there was plenty to keep us busy and entertained. The location is another big bonus, quiet and immersed in nature but easy to reach, close to the M4 and from there a quick drive to plenty of interesting places. We'd recommend the Botanical Gardens of Wales, Penllergaer Forest Valley , Worms Head (Rhossili) on the Gower, and the Royal Mint as places worth a visit. For food, a standout was Pen Y Waun Farmshop, literally 2 minutes up the road: Gavin's dedication came across and both the meat and the jam were superb. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to an opportunity to come back to this gem of a cottage.
