What our customers say about their holidays
Kathleen - Verified booking
I wouldnât know where to begin with the story of our holiday stay.
The home was everything it states but if there is a problem the Menai Holiday agency is hopeless. There was a very distressing incident during the holiday. Without going into it fully as this matter will be taken further, but the caretaker called, we were in the back garden, my grandchildren were in the front living room. Apparently they knocked but thought no one was in so they let themselves into the house, where they then banged on the living room door where my grandchildren were. They were petrified and frightened that this stranger was stood there and asking where there parents were, the children starting shouting as the caretaker had blocked the doorway so they were unable to run out, in all the commotion and shouting my son stepped out of the shower ( half undressed ) to open the bathroom door to find the caretaker had then walked down the length of the hallway to the kitchen. She said the owner had asked her to call to check the model of the fridge and staining damage on the worktop. By this time the children are crying with shock and needless to say I had come in from the garden and was in complete shock at the commotion and trauma to the children. I contacted Menai letting agency straight away and ( this was a Monday morning ) I explained what had happened and they said they would contact the owner. 24 hours later there was no contact from them. I had to ring them several times, left on hold for ages, or cut off , I did have a ring back at one point to which they would just reassure me it wouldnât happen again. They didnât seem to understand the fact that a complete stranger let themselves in ( thinking we were out, which is even worse ) o our privately rented holiday home. It ruined the holiday for the children, my son took my grandson home on the Tuesday evening as he was to upset he kept talking about it. He just couldnât understand how someone had let themselves in ( thinking we were out ) Our cars were in the drive and the grandchildren were in the living room. I have sent several emails, with the full distressing story but they have all been ignored. I think itâs disgraceful what happened but it seems the agency and owner think it was ok. I have been inundated for feedback since arriving home. Well if this is the only way to get them to realise the distressing effects on my grandchildren then I have no hesitation in putting this story out there so it wonât happen to others. Appalling Service.

Amazing place with fantastic views.
A very well thought out property, which at first glance appears like a rabbit warren. Every space has been utilised to the best. The main rooms all had fantastic views of the sea. We found the many light switches in the main room hilarious to fathom as those that settled in earlier could hear clicking as we switched off at nighttime. We were a mix of middle aged and grandchildren celebrating two 60th birthdays. We were blessed with great weather, but there is plenty to see even off season. The children had plenty of room to explore and run about outside. We had everything available to cook family meals, were warm enough even when we had frozen nights. Nothing but the finest in the quality of beds and furnishings. The towels were huge and fluffy. Plenty of hot water for relaxing in the bath. We would certainly love to return sometime. Now the negatives. We arrived to a sink full of dirty water with two sponges floating in it. The place was surface clean only, with dirty and greasy oven pans. Mouse droppings under the big coffee table in the lounge and other bits under sofas, a hair bobble, Pringles lid etc. (I have photos). The cleaners donât appear to have the tools to do a good job. There were nothing to clean the oven with. The vacuum cleaner was blocked with hair. Upon unblocking it, the hoover collected a full container of fluff and worked perfectly. The shower room upstairs smells of dirty mop. We purchased two bottles of bathroom drain unblocker and lifted the drain bar..it needs doing again to solve a simple problem. People have commented on this before. One toaster, reported broken Sept 21 is still broken. A pane of toughened glass was shattered out on the decking (wasnât an issue but needs fixing). It was after two storms. We had to buy the basics in order to keep the place clean, washing up liquid, surface cleaner, a dish cloth, bathroom sponges, green veg recycling bags. These are usually provided on all holiday rentals. Really picky now. There is only one pillow per head, so if you sleep more raised up, you will have to bring your own. Please donât be put off. The place has the wow factor and we had a fabulous stay

I have waited a couple of days to leave this review as I was caught between giving four stars and five.
I plumbed for five! Location of property is awesome and literally 20 meters from your own rocky cove (with sand). The property is as clean as the proverbial whistle and has everything you need for your stay in Trearddur Bay. It's a short walk to the main bay and you are on the coastal path so plenty to explore. A word of warning on finding the property - it is situated behind the owners bungalow - please follow the instructions and you will find it with ease. Ignore the instructions and you will struggle to find (only a fool would do this, right?). The reason for my dalliance was purely down to one thing that I struggled with and that was the shower. As a solid, 6 ft man it was cumbersome (though not impossible) to use the shower as it is impeded slightly by the shape of the roof. That said, I showered twice daily so found it workable, if not comfortable. Would I recommend? Of course! Would I return? Of course! Should you book? Of Course! Finally a shout out to Sue (owner's mother) who let us park up at the property so we could stretch our legs while she was getting it ready for us - what a wonderful woman!

I was called at the end of the holiday by one of your colleagues, who told me that two duvets were missing.
I was driving and said we had not taken them. When I was able to stop I called others in the house and they said that an enthusiastic teenager may have misread the instructions (they contradict in emails and leaflets) and put the duvets in the washing bag. I then spent 15 minutes trying to phone through and suggest this to your colleague but ended up speaking to a rude man who refused to take a message until I told him my name, address, email and phone number. Given that this had already cost me at least half an hour to simply make a suggestion that someone should look in the laundry, I was more than a little short and simply told him to take a message. This he refused to do without all the other information. I put the phone down. He knew my name, he had already looked at the account and knew which house we had hired. Why he wouldnât take a message, I do not knowâ¦â¦ We didnât steal the duvets, they will be in the laundry, and I will be sorely angry if you charge me for two duvets on the back of his inability to simply take a messageâ¦â¦

Enjoyed our stay at Ty Haf.
Property is generally well equipped although the can opener could do with being upgraded. Snug sun room is a positive feature - despite the low sofa being a challenge to get up from if you have hip or knee mobility issues - compact back patio is a welcome sun trap. Bathroom has been modernised and provides the the option of both an efficient walk-in shower or bath with shower head available. Especially useful if you have children! Furniture is dated & living room dark but as we didnât spend any time in it not a major issue for us. Visitors information needs updating as some of the recommended eating venues are no longer trading but generally helpful in providing trip options. Felt at home here & well worth considering staying here for families/ friends with or without children and dogs. If you have mobility issues it is a relatively steep hill to the beach and amenities.
