What our customers say about their holidays

Enjoyed a couple of days with family at Holly Cottage.
We were so delighted at how immaculate the property was (always important) The linen was excellent quality, the towels white fluffy and fresh. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need from utensils to lovely glasses and plates. A welcome tray was super kind and included high quality biscuits, Elizabeth shaw mint chocolates, crisps and drinks in the fridge. Itâs gestures like this that make a difference:) The log fire made it the lounge cosy and the heat was welcomed. There were tons of logs albeit we needed no more than provided in the fire basket. The village shop is excellent and if you do forget anything they had a great variety of fresh produce and non perishables. If we had more time we would have explored more but as a meeting place it was ideal. Some points to note. Parking at the front is very small and only fits one small car. My estate car would have crossed over the pavement. There was no oven glove (not something I thought of taking) but very much needed. The showers are electric and not very powerful. We went on a very cold winter weekend but it was cold in the house, especially in the kitchen where it is extended and the bathrooms. This is probably because it is a very old property as the heating was on. I guess itâs only to be expected but worth noting if you feel the cold. There are blankets in each room. The bedrooms are all beautiful, well equipped, wardrobes, mirrors, tvs. Each room even had its own hairdryer. However as the top bedroom is more mezzanine it does not have a door and therefore no privacy. The single smaller bedroom does have a tiny step down into it and would benefit from a reminder sign on the door, two of us completely missed it and tripped down. Stupid I know but when you are not used to a step you naturally walk forward. Holly Cottage is a very well presented home with quality furnishings. Itâs super clean and very welcoming. It has peaceful views situated in a quiet village. Itâs got a happy feel and we would happily visit again when the sun is shining:). Thankyou!

5* amazing! im not sure where to start on how amazing this experience has been. the communication form the minute we booked with sonia and Adam was great making sure we had everything we needed and how to find them. The key lock means you can check in without needing to give an exact time of arrival or worry about meeting anyone. the barn is just perfect in every way. from the views down to the decor - it has been lovingly put together. dont fall in love with the furniture too much as you cant buy it as it has been hand made by Adam from the wood out of the conversion- it really is beautiful. there is a fenced in garden which is ideal for dogs or just to sit in with a glass of wine over looking the countryside. we especially enjoyed the log burner at the end of the day watching the sunsets from the sofa. There are plenty of lovely walks across the fields and Ragley Hall is just around the corner. the farm shop is also walk able and serves lovely coffee. Sonia and Adam are both on hand for anything you need from Afternoon tea or directions for walks. or you can be left alone to enjoy the surroundings and relax. this wasnt supposed to be a holiday for us, we live 20mins away and needed to stay somewhere to stay (with dogs and in a pandemic) while emergency work was carried out on our home. However it felt like we were much further away and we could of been anywhere not just 20mins down the road. what started out as a very stressful week ended up being a lovely relaxing week thanks to Sonia and Adam. covid measures taken at all times and we felt very safe staying here. it has been a privilege to be the first guests at Shakespeare's Shoes and we look forward to visiting again to enjoy some of Adams cooking and to use the pizza oven that was being installed in the outside area when we left. 5* luxury at its best!

When we arrived at the property there was a note to say that the gardener visited once a fortnight.
The garden however was overgrown and the lawn had not been cut for months. There were nettles and brambles growing into the garden which made it unusable. The access to the side patio which we used a couple of times for bbq was difficult due to the overgrown nature of the bushes. To add to this the side patio door was very difficult to close and needed quite a bit of force to do so. That being the case we didnât want to use the side door. When we arrived the general waste bin outside was over flowing and had not been emptied for some time and was also smelling. We tried to compact it down as much as possible to put our in it. However on our day of departure the bin was covered in maggots which we reported by leaving a note in the property. Overall we felt that the cleanliness of the property was below standard. For example, all the windows were dirty and had hand prints on them. When you moved the stools at the breakfast bar there was a dirt ring on the floor. The hoover did not work very well when we used it and even had to empty the hoover to try and improve it. Others things to consider for the future that would make peoples stay more enjoyable and to improve the facilities would be: Providing a washing line or a âworkingâ airier (the one at holly cottage was broken) if a washing machine is advertised Providing enough bin bags to last the stay - We had to buy our own We also had to buy additional cleaning products, but feel that these should have been provided. The other item I would like to raise is the oil tank did smell a lot and you needed to pass this to access the property.

Whilst the property was finished to a very high building spec.
It lacked many things. E.G. no hairdryer, nothing to dry the clothes on when washed in the Miele washing machine (we had to go and ask for something). No basins, milk jug, scales, serving spoons, fruit bowl, casserole dish, dishwasher tablets (2 would have been nice), no chairs and table for the garden only a wooden bench for 2.! The Aga had been switched off for summer (we hadn't been told) so no hob to boil on. Only a microwave/convection oven that had no where to keep some of the food hot. There were information leaflets on the area but 2023 not 24. There were very limited instruction books for the appliances. No welcome pack. The kitchen is quite small to fit 6 people around the table and for you to move around the kitchen -- so difficult for 6 people. Having had many years using Sykes for great holiday experiences this was sadly not on that level. It could easily be improved, with proper utensils, pots and pans, casseroles etc. for the kitchen. but space in the kitchen was not good. The kitchen window has a great crack where something has hit it. As there is no pub close enough to walk to it is more essential to have a well equipped kitchen with a cooker with a hob and if not to inform potential hirers that this is the case. I notice on the previous feedback that they had experienced the same, but sadly didn't read this until we were in the property. added to which there was no information on local places to eat but no maps for walks, no games for children etc. no books not even a pack of cards.

Weâve just returned from a 3 night stay at the barn and can only describe it as perfect for couples/small families wanting a rural break in reasonable distance from both Stratford upon Avon and Broadway. The barn was immaculately clean and the welcome gifts provided were so thoughtful! Itâs beautifully converted and furnished. It felt like a home away from home. Facilities at the barn were excellent, everything you could need in the kitchen was provided and the sunny and private fully enclosed garden was perfect for us and our dog with views over the countryside. The hosts were so friendly, were always contactable when we needed them and we felt separate/independent in our accommodation despite them being next door. Sonia and Adam offered great tips on dog walking routes from the accommodation and places to visit nearby. We unfortunately didnât get chance to sample the catering on offer but we plan to return and wouldnât hesitate to do this next time around. A well stocked farm shop was only a mile away and had lovely fresh and local produce. Itâs a 20 minute drive from Stratford or Broadway which were both lovely for a day out, with plenty of shops cafes and restaurants to choose from. We felt like we only scratched the surface. Thereâs plenty to do and places to explore nearby if youâre looking for a longer stay. I canât thank Sonia and Adam enough for our stay at Shakespeareâs Shoes. Donât hesitate to book! Weâll certainly be returning in the future.
