  The property was very clean and comfortable.

  It is ideally located for visiting Stratford on Avon whilst being out of the busyness. It is also an ideal location to visit the Cotswolds. The property has all you need to enjoy a break. It doesn’t have a washing machine but, on holiday, that’s not a great loss. You are surrounded by open countryside and the whole place feels very tranquil. There’s a lovely sun trap at the rear of the property and the owners have set out a table and chairs to make use of this space. If you have any issues the owners are on site and very approachable and helpful. The closest shop and restaurant is in Welford on Avon which is about 1 - 1.5 miles away. As there are no footpaths along part of the road from the property to the village walking would not be advisable. All in all a great place and would certainly check out its availability if revisiting the area.

  Beautiful medieval cottage, sensitively restored, perfectly chosen furnishings to maintain feel of the place and wonderfully well equipped.

  Everything of good quality, cutlery, saucepans glasses etc Comfy bed and cosy woodburner - with logs! Warm welcome from Father Philip and lovely cake to welcome us with milk, tea bags etc. Dog friendly with blanket and bowls. Polesworth itself is not particularly attractive, but the two cottages that form part of the old abbey gatehouse are utterly delightful. There are lots of stairs if you are using the second floor bedroom, so suggest mobile adults and no tiny children. There is social club and a pub immediately opposite, which may have been a noise issue if we were using the second floor bedroom, but the main bedroom, on the first floor, is at the back of the cottage, so no problem on our stay. Sykes, as an agency are really helpful and friendly and this, too, makes for a lovely holiday!

  The accommodation is fantastic.

  If you appreciate history, you will love Gatehouse Croft. It has been really well modernised inside, and I don't think there was anything which could be improved in terms of comfort, cleanliness or facilities. Our host, Father Philip, gave us a warm and generous welcome, and was on hand to help during the day when I couldn't turn the heating down! The only downside was outside noise. We had been prepared for noise from the pub and club opposite, but the real problem was the young men who frequented the car park area behind the property at night. We were subjected to handbrake turns in a car plus lots of shouting on our first night, then football and lots of shouting between 1am and 3am on our last night. We left early for this reason, such a shame as it is a lovely property.

  Middle Cottage was ideal for us and our dog.

  The accommodation was very modern, clean, comfortable and warm. Also a very practical lounge/diner all in one space downstairs with an easy clean floor - perfect at any time of year due to excellent heating plus log burner. The village is quiet but has a good dog-friendly pub. We found local walks a little frustrating as despite having a young and agile border collie cross she was defeated by some of the stiles on signposted walking routes. However trips to places such as Stratford upon Avon and Stow on the Wold plus walks along the Oxford Canal were good alternatives. We regularly stay at holiday cottages and have been doing so for 30 years - this was one of the nicest!

  We loved our stay from start to finish!

  Sykes Cottages were helpful, friendly and courteous, our greeting at Gatehouse Croft was warm and genuine. The property is simply stunning inside and out, it;s warm and cosy from the underfloor heating downstairs - so much so that we didn't light the fire even with overnight temperatures below freezing. The property is clean, tidy and well equipped, particularly in the kitchen which for someone like me who enjoys cooking is a real bonus. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gatehouse Croft and will most definitely be back on a future visit to the UK.
