What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Moss - Verified booking
We loved our stay at The Studio on the Royal Crescent over New Year. The apartment is really well situated only a minute's walk from Whitby's famous whale bone arch and a walk down into the town. We knew we were on the top floor but weren't quite prepared for the amount of steps to climb to the flat, and then further steps to the bathroom! There are maybe 6 or 7 flights of stairs, so just be aware if you are planning on lugging a lot of stuff up there, have small children or elderly guests. However, we were happy to pay that price to have a quiet stay, away from everyone else, with only the Whitby wind and the sea for company. Views are wonderful. The flat itself was very comfortable, we loved the main living area which felt modern and stylish - plenty of space to lounge about - and the kitchen was clean and very well equipped. The main bedroom was comfortable and we didn't use the single room but it looked like it would be a cute room for a small child. The bathroom was up a small flight of stairs and we didn't love it, but it was functional. There was no extraction fan (you could open the Velux, but it tended to dump muck into the bath if we did that) and the arrangement of the small suite meant you had to be careful not to fall down the stairs when stepping out of the bath - not a space for romantic baths for two, but perfectly serviceable. We noted that most of the Velux windows could do with some servicing, one in the living room was letting in water when it rained, and they just needed a general scrub, wood treatment and painting of the surrounds. But really, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely consider coming back to The Studio.

What a gem of a property. As much as we would like to keep this a place a secret all to ourselves it would be doing the owners a huge disservice. Strangely the pictures on the website don't truly represent how spacious and well appointed this flat really is. It is exceptionally clean and well appointed with a fantastic kitchen with full under counter fridge and separate freezer as well as a washer/dryer and a dishwasher as well. The bathroom is fantastic with a good size bath and huge walk in shower. The master bedroom is very large with a massive bed and amazing window overlooking the Abbey. There is no wardrobe as such but there is plenty of drawer space and there is a clothes rail that is large enough to hang up plenty of clothes. The double room is well spaced and equipped as well. The living room has a convenient cloakroom to one side of the entrance which is plenty big enough for several suitcases, shoes and coats. The livingroom itself has another wonderfully large window looking over towards the Abbey. Plenty of comfy seats to enjoy the view or watch tv. The dining table is a good size as well. Loads of board games for all ages and a very detailed welcome pack to go with a generous arrival hamper of local buiscuits, cake and tea. The outside seating area is plenty big enough to store bodyboards and dry wetsuits etc and has another good size table and 4 chairs (No abbey view though from the outside area, but that cant be helped). All in all this apartment is very difficult to better in Whitby for what it offers. We are very much looking forward to returning again.

Beautiful quirky old apartment, felt like we were in a sailing ship! So well placed for lovely cafes and restaurants in Church St, Bridge St and surrounds - brunch at Mr Cooper's Coffee House and dinner at The Edge and Cosa Nostra were particular highlights. Close to the Abbey, and just a short walk across the bridge to the town and beach. Really well equipped, spacious rooms. The only downside for us was noise from seagulls (but it is a seaside town!) and reversing delivery lorries outside in the early morning - the only reason for marking down on comfort. Parking is a real challenge in Whitby, we had 2 cars and ended up parking for the full week in the small council car park in Church St just a 5 minute walk away. We didn't manage to find any W spaces, and they were more of a walk away anyway. It was around £10 per day for the car park and saved the stress of trying to re-park after being out and about. EV chargers there were regularly blocked by ICE cars but I did manage to charge. We walked around Whitby, took the bus to Robin Hood's Bay for £2 each way and had a trip on the NYM Railway. The bus and train station are very easy to get to on foot and we would have likely used public transport for any other outings. Whitby is lovely for a short break.

We had a fantastic stay at Harbour Lodge.
The flat is over 2 floors and feels really roomy. We were 3 adults and 2 children and it felt very spacious. Each bedroom has lots of space and loads of wardrobe/cupboard space to unpack into. It was absolutely spotless when we arrived. There is everything you need in the flat, the kitchen is really well stocked to make meals. Having a dishwasher and washing machine is a real bonus. The sofas are comfortable to sink into after miles walked around Whitby, and the TV is really modern so you can stream anything you want. We didn't watch much as there are lots of games to play too or books to read. The views from the master bedroom are wonderful of the abbey and estuary and I already miss not waking up there and looking out. The flat is in a brilliant position, a very short walk from the main town and to the beach, Co-op is 5 mins away which was helpful. Having the safe underground parking was a real bonus. We really enjoyed our stay and time in Whitby and would love to visit again.

Pros = This was a lovely holiday home for us and our four grandchildren!
They loved the apartment and took turns to sleep in different bedrooms throughout our stay! The place was lovely and clean and we loved that there were some buckets and spades that we could use! We did replace these - 3 spades and 1 bucket - for the next family to use! Cons = Lots of stairs that were harder to climb by the end of the week! We couldnât work the shower over the bath! The ability to ask for a later checkout time would have been great. We could have done with just one extra hour! Trying to organise 4 children to eat, wash and be out by 10 and go up and down all those stairs to pack the car (with the cleaning team waiting for our car to move) meant that our otherwise wonderful holiday ended in a very stressful way. The children were too young to carry all the bags and packing and so everything was done in a rush. To be fair the cleaning team werenât at all impolite but were obviously keen to get on with their duties.
