What our customers say about their holidays

Just had a lovely week at Pitt Cottage, perfect location to explore the area and relax. The two nearby pubs are excellent, the Sunday roast in the Fountain was one of the best I've had. The Masons is a lot more upmarket and the food and beer was superb but they are very different pubs! It's a great spot for walkers with footpaths starting practically outside your door. You don't have to go far for some beautiful views of the countryside. The cottage was pretty well fitted out, some essential cookware was missing and some of it was very tired. The downstairs bathroom was incredibly small and I'd imagine those on the larger side would struggle to get in. The sliding door was stuck but I quite liked the loo with a view! The beams are incredibly LOW, anyone over 5' 8" will hit their head during the week, possibly seven times. As mentioned before it's a bit skimpy on loo roll and dishwasher tablets, no replacement bin bags or washing powder. The parking (described as ample and down the lane) is not great. It's on the main road through Branscombe and it's tight. I expected to find my car scraped every morning but thankfully it wasn't. Overall we had a very relaxing time, visited some lovely places and thoroughly enjoyed our week.

What an absolute gem! Set in the most idyllic village on a quiet road with the sound of nothing but nature all around, I was blown away with the pure charm and character this little cottage had to offer. From the moment I opened the pretty garden gate and walked up to the thatched porch I was in awe of its beauty. I am not sure what the age of the cottage is but it really is a special place, with low beamed ceilings, a large but cosy inglenook fireplace and wobbly floors upstairs, it is the most charming place I have ever stayed. I felt I was in a Jane Austen novel all weekend :) Just LOVED IT! Branscombe is a wonderful village with lots of lovely walks right on the doorstep so it's perfect for you and your furry friend. The cottage has been thoughtfully designed and decorated with beautiful artworks and charming vintage pieces in every room. It is a wonderful relaxing place to be with every comfort provided. After long days out walking and exploring, it was a real joy to indulge in a hot bath and cosy up in front of the log burner with a good book. I cannot wait to return!

The property was well maintained and furnished to a high standard. However, the sofa was very low and we were unable to sit on it, which wasn’t helped by the fact that the swivel chair was broken. We had to bring in our beach chairs to sit on. In addition to the chair the bathroom blind was broken, the curtain rail in the bedroom had no end stop, so the curtain came off the end of the rail. Also, the kettle kept boiling over. However, when I reported these problems they were fixed immediately. I don’t think the property should be advertised as have a place to sit at the back. It is basically a car park, where you are surrounded by cars, meters, washing lines and also scaffolding. On arrival, the scaffolding did not give a very good impression! I’m not sure why it’s still there, as there doesn’t appear to be any work going on,

We had a great stay in this property.
The house is perfectly suited for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The location is perfect - set on the edge of the National Trust Penrose Hill Estate as well as being only a 15 min walk into Porthleven. The house is well equipped and clean. The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. The house has its living space upstairs with the bedrooms on the ground floor and has a great view through every window from this living space. The balcony is a great addition to sit out on when warm enough to do so. There is no enclosed garden to let a dog into but this is clear in the details. There is plenty of land on your doorstep to use however. The property exceeded our expectations and I wouldnât hesitate to book again.

Such a tastefully furnished and comfy place - even nicer than the photos had led us to believe.
Everything went so smoothly from arrival to check-out with clear directions an easy key safe and then the cottage itself was easy to look after. All the things we needed to know were clearly laid out in the welcome file and we could get on with our holiday. Porthleven is a lovely little fishing town, now largely given over to tourism but it retains a character that some larger towns seem to have lost. We loved walking into the town, particularly once we had discovered the inland route. There is a good fishmonger, a fabulous coffee shop and several pubs and restaurants that we did not try, preferring our home from home at Pen Chy. We did however visit the Ship Inn and had a wonderful meal with delicious local beer.
