What our customers say about their holidays

Periwinkle in the beautiful Village of Crantock is a fantastic modern family house which was perfect for our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children).
The house itself is well maintained and finished to a high standard throughout and was equipped with everything we needed. The garden is again finished to a high standard, well landscaped with the added luxury of the hot tub which is perfect for relaxing in after a long day exploring beautiful Cornwall. Whilst we didnât take our dog on this holiday the garden is well secured for a four legged friend. The hosts left us a very nice welcome gift as well as a lovely introductory greeting card. They were always on hand and very approachable if we needed anything. Crantock itself is beautiful, the house is located at the top of the village and the beach is a 10/15 minute walk. The coastal sand dunes are great to explore and the views are stunning! We took an hour walk along the coast towards Holywell Bay where youâll often find a colony of seals - itâs well worth the walk!! In terms of amenities, Crantock has a well stocked local shop as well as two pubs and a coffee/cake cafe (The Jam Jar) which doubles up as an excellent Pizzerie in the evening which also serves cocktails! Weâd not hesitate to recommend Periwinkle and itâs lovely hosts!

When we arrived at the accommodation there was a funny smell of which we had to buy our own air freshener automatic dispenser to try and mask it.
However on our second day we returned back to over 50 big blue bottle flies. All the windows downstairs had been closed before we went out. We contacted the housekeeper who came round straight away and had someone come out to look who found no reason for them. We tried to find a cause and looked under the kitchen units and was met by rat droppings and rat poison. For the next 2 days we had to spray potent fly spray as we left to come back to 20/30+ dead flies. The work surfaces and floor was covered in dead flies. If we were able to find alternative accommodation in Cornwall (not for lack of trying) we would have left. We opted to stay in a self catering property so we could cook ourselves but we did not feel comfortable with this having seen rat droppings and the dead flies. I have video and photo evidence of this and would appreciate someone contacting me to discuss further

On the whole the house was clean and sufficed.
The lounge STANK of dogs. The bedding was cheap and the pillows were awful (cheap and flat). There were stains on the mattress protector so obviously it wasn't cleaned since at least the visit before. There was absolutely nothing available such as oil/foil/washing up liquid (which may be a covid thing but VERY unusual in our experience for nothing to be available) and the hot tub - the only reason we were prepared to spend as much on 1 week away - was not very good because it only worked on 1 side at a time. The pump clearly isn't strong enough for the size of the tub. Overall, it didn't stop us from having a nice week away but we definitely wouldn't return - the price asked was just pure greed taking advantage of people needing to go away in this country during the half term. Shame. If it wasn't so expensive we wouldn't have expected so much.

Generally nice property.
Unfortunately, dishwasher full of dirty pots , old ladies razor in shower , shed full of last weeks rubbish. Also , it would have been nice to know scaffolding and building work was going on to side a rear of the property. Banging constantly aggrevated dog which I'm sure pleased neighbours and builders banging as early as 8am not really what you want on holiday. We recently stayed with self cater cornwall at Easter at Zinc close to fistral. They informed us several times before we arrived that building work was going on and gave us a discount as compensation upfront not after we arrived and raised it so we had a choice. Overall due to the above we were a little disappointed by what we got for what I would consider a premium holiday let. I would be interested to hear your views on the above. Jason

Fabulous house, in a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of the village.
Kelly and Tom (who live a few doors away) have thought of just about everything and the welcome pack was a lovely touch, with scones, clotted cream, milk, biscuits, a bottle of fizz and much more! The house is spacious and well appointed and includes everything you need, including towels, linen and even loo rolls! The electric car charger was simple to use and much needed after our journey and the hot tub was excellent too. Just a few minutes walk to the village which has a small supermarket, two pubs, The Albion and The Cornishman, (both offer good food and a choice of ales) and a 10 minute walk to the beach. (Note: it's very steep uphill coming back!). A wonderful home from home, in a fabulous location providing a fantastic holiday experience. Highly recommend.
