What our customers say about their holidays
Tricia - Verified booking
The property is in an amazing location, with reserved parking nearby.
It was very clean (apart from the ensuite shower needing a bit of deep cleaning) We had a great week in Looe, with good weather. Shops and eateries are within easy walking distance, which was good for me, with limited mobility. The sofas and beds were comfy and the cottage is very spacious. However, there were too many things wrong with the property for us to contemplate either returning or recommending it. First the outside area: described as "enclosed" we were very concerned that there is access for anyone to walk in from the streets, as there is no gate to prevent this. We didn't feel able to leave the patio doors unlocked for this reason. Also there were weeds and moss that should have been cleared prior to our arrival. There was no welcome pack or handy clear instructions for anything. The wi-fi code took some finding, tucked away in an info book in a drawer under the coffee table. There was no starter pack for the woodburner, despite this being stated in the proprty description. We asked the caretaker for some but he replied that they do not provide this. Luckily we found an electric heater stored away in a cupboard. We had no hot water for 48hours because we were under the misunderstanding that we needed to know how the "gas range for hot water" worked and we couldn't find instructions anywhere; apparently there were controls by the back door, which we hadn't seen. When we turned the ensuite light on, there was an unbearable noise from the fan, which meant we couldn't use the light at all, until the caretaker fixed this. Although it was known that the shower head was faulty (it had Heath Robinson repair work on it) no permanent repair had been arranged. There's no alternative shower for hairwashing in the bathroom either. There are no wardrobes in the twin room. There are no doors on either the twin or upper floor rooms. Lighting in the living room is very poor in one half of the room. Luckily a previous reviewer had mentioned this and I had packed USB chargeable lamps with me (one of which was put to use in the ensuite before the fan noise problem was fixed) The most annoying aspect of this property is that there are no coatpegs anywhere! There is plenty of room in the hallway to fix numerous coatpegs and we failed to understand why there were none. Our coats spent most of the week on the floor, having fallen off the shoe rack. There were no less than 4 remote controls for the tv, yet we failed to find any workable volume control in any of them. Only one yale key is available for the property, despite there being 2 locks. I am unable to use the keysafe, being partially sighted and the caretaker was understandably reluctant to provide the only other available key. The thing that upset us most about our week was that the caretaker entered our holiday home to fix some things without first asking or informing us of his intentions. He texted me after he had been.In our opinion, this is an absolute no-no - totally unacceptable!

First the good stuff: Location is great - for those that know Looe I would say 1/2 way between Co-op and beach.
For those that donât, itâs very central and the co-op to beach is about 500m and itâs in the middle. Very spacious property. Good size bedrooms, lounge and downstairs bathroom. Fabulous kitchen - very well stocked with plenty of plates/dishes/cooking utensils etc. Comfy sofas in lounge area and plenty of room. On the first floor is the master with en-suite. Also, tucked away on the first floor is the bedroom with 2 single beds. Second floor is another big (mezzanine) bedroom. I would preface my review by saying the house is set up for families - not 4 adults as we were. The only shower was in the en-suite which wasnât great for the person staying in that room (thatâs also the only upstairs loo) and the shower is TINY. Itâs probably about 70cm square which is fine for kids and very petite adults but your average adult will struggle. We had two people who were 6â2 and they just couldnât use it - which meant they had to use the bath every day which was a pain. The twin room is obviously set up for kids. No wardrobes - just a set of 4 drawers. No mirror or a basic table to sit and dry your hair. As 4 adults, the bathroom situation really had grated on us by the end of the week. I would imagine that 2 parents with kids (as long as no-one is tall or on the heavier side) would find this fine but it didnât work well for us. If I were to make some recommendations to make it adult friendly as well as family friendly it would be: put a shower over the bath downstairs. Thatâs a huge space and would massively improve things. A couple of lamps in the lounge would benefit the darker days when itâs dark and cloudy. In the hallway between the master and twin place a clothes rail and a small table with mirror - doesnât have to be fancy just practical - for those using the twin room. I was very torn with this cottage because owners have obviously spent a lot of time thinking about the kitchen, lounge etc - and it shows but I do think it needs advertising as a family cottage as that is the set up. We did stay an extra day as the traffic coming down on a Friday was horrendous and that was processed efficiently. I am grateful that the owners processed that request quickly. All in all I would give 3.5 stars. Iâd give 4.5 if the bathrooms had been more accommodating. Pls note, there are no doors on the top floor bedroom or the twin bedroom - didnât matter to us but May to others. Also, TV is apps only (iplayer and Netflix and prime) no regular TV. Again didnât matter to us but May to others

Don't like how you charge a booking fee. !! First impression of property on arrival wasnt good. Debris on outer widow sills and on the front of the premises. Appreciate there are trees around however it could have been swept up before arrival.Front door dirty. Threshold over door way grubby. Bird poo & cob webs on windows. Car park and yard needs attention with weeds growing. 2nd slab out of back door is a trip hazard. Thresholds over all doors on the back are full of muck. Patio picnic table is too grubby to eat off. Knives need replacing. Very very blunt. Did try to sharpen with sharpening tool, but even that is worn. Need to change bedding to season. 13.5 tog quilt we had on our bed. Bed pillows need replacing. Fan would be nice. Fridge Ice box needs de frosting. Top oven needs a deep clean. Both toilet brushes need replacing. Wasn't very nice. Bathroom needs a toilet roll holder on the wall. Clearer instructions needed to operate oven, washing machine and shower would be a good idea. Also instructions on what is allowed in recycling bin as nothing in the info book. Also which bins are for Boatyard would be good to know. A washing line would also be a bonus although there is a foldi g dryer, but not brilliant when you have a load to dry. Positives... Great location. Good access for parking when inconsiderate locals don't park opposite entrance.

Fantastic cleanliness throughout this property.
Great heating which was important in October! Very economical heating in the lounge which spread warmth to all rooms easily. Our two large dogs coped well with the property which has a six ft fully fenced and secure outside area. It's a bit of a faff getting stuff into the house because of the parking and some furniture is a little tired after the summer season hence 4stars not 5,but really these are minor things. The electric meter was extremely well fed on arrival and despite us using the shower and heating a good deal, usage was minimal. Fantastic location for the beach Also if you need a secure dog area there's a amazing place called Huttoft Hounds a few miles away from the chalet. This is a bonus for dog owners as you can book online and it's worth a visit. It was a shame there was no Internet and phone data was non existent too which meant planning for things was difficult. We had a lovely time though and would recommend this as a base to work from.

The cottage inside was clean and well equipped, the kitchen was a lovely area to sit and eat.
The beds were comfortable. The plumber had to be called to the shower as we couldnât regulate the temperature, he said it needed a new part and as long as we didnât touch the temperature dial it would be ok . It was in a great location close to the beach and shops, however we did have trouble sleeping at times due to the amount and closeness of the seagulls. The cottage advertised outside space with a table and chairs and we looked forward to be sitting outdoors in the sun for a meal or a drink, however we didnât sit out once due to it being very dirty, the paving slabs were filthy, there was moss and weeds growing between them and the chairs and sun umbrella cover had green mould on them. The bbq cover was filthy . We complained upon return and were told that a call to the cleaner would have quickly solved the problem, but the outdoor space should have been clean and tidy when we arrived, in my opinion it need jetwashing.
