What our customers say about their holidays

We had a wonderful week at this cosy cottage and were sad to be coming home.
Everything was as described and photographed in the listing. The beds were comfortable and the house was really clean and dust-free, which is hard to achieve in an old property. It has a very peaceful, calming feeling about it and was a perfect base in good and bad weather. The decoration is as you would expect for an old country cottage and it felt very homely. We cooked most of our evening meals at the cottage as we had two dogs with us and Newport was very busy in mid-August, but the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed and the new cooker was great to use. The garden was a good size and we enjoyed relaxing in it and the kids could play ball games without disturbing anyone. The cottage is on the hillside next to Newport, it does not have sea views, but the surrounding scenery is beautiful including the captivating Carn Ingli. The cottage is about a miles walk from the beach, it is downhill on the way but quite steep on the way back, but we got used to it and enjoyed stopping at the golf course for a drink and to admire the spectacular view of the beach on the way back. (You could also drive and park at the beach, where there are toilets and a cafe and even at this time of year there was no problem parking.) I can see that the owner is planning to upgrade some things over the winter and my only suggestion would be a small barrier fence to stop dogs and young children being able to run down the side of the cottage and round to the front as although the road is quiet the cars do pass very fast and it would allow people to relax a little more when using the garden. Thank you for a brilliant summer holiday, we will definitely book again.

We had a lovely holiday at The Grange everything needed for a comfortable stay is provided and it is in a perfect position, a short walking distance away from Little Haven and Broad Haven where there is a good selection of pubs, cafes and grocery store,.
There is also good access to the coastal path and two large beaches and many more a short drive away. We particularly enjoyed walking to Newgale Sands and visiting St Davidâs, Tenby and Saundersfoot. The house itself was a very spacious with a huge kitchen diner and two sitting rooms. There are a good selection of board games, books and dvds in the sitting rooms. Upstairs are two nice bedrooms also of a good size with comfortable beds and great views of the local countryside. The upstairs bathroom does not have a shower which we would have preferred but as there is a shower in the bathroom downstairs this was not a problem. Downstairs down a long corridor is an additional bedroom and bathroom with bath and shower. Everything was very clean inside but the bedroom window unfortunately faced the next door neighbours wall which was covered in cobwebs and the window was dirty also, probably because there was no access to it without going onto next doors property. This bedroom also had a slight damp smell to it. We felt that because of this the bedroom was not very inviting. This was not a problem to us as we did not need to use this room. The house was a good price as it was out of season. The outside area around the side entrance would also benefit from a bit of a clean as lots of cobwebs making it less welcoming on arrival. Overall we were very happy staying here and would definitely recommend for families as there is so much space, comfortable beds, outdoor space for children to play and plenty of parking space.

The property would benefit from a good deep clean.
Mop is tired & old & bucket has no section to wring out mop. Floors very dirty. We bought mop, bucket & flash anti-bac cleaner (all taken with us on leaving). Cleaned floor 4 times to get to acceptable level. Dusty & cobweb ridden throughout. Carpets are filthy - we photographed numerous stains & emailed to Sykes to ensure owner couldn't suggest it was us. Property smelt very musty. Bedding damp (we had fortunately brought a throw as tend to find duvets too hot). Sprayed lots of Febreze (bought a number of cans) & aired as much as we could, but still smelly & all clothing taken (& throw) has had to be washed on return as now also smelly (including everything washed there). Tiles in bathroom loose & broken, which we could see reported in visitor book back in July, yet still unresolved. Hoover was also reported as broken in July, but we found it in same state - not working, full of filth & no wheels. Disappointing that issues reported are left unresolved. Had a courtesy call from Sykes early in week & reported all issues. We did have an issue with fumes from boiler during the holiday & unfortunately the owner was very dismissive, even offering to supply number of plumber rather than call himself. We can tell difference between spilt fuel smell & burnt fuel fumes - also no smell until Thursday evening, so odd that we wouldn't smell it sooner, when room in question was used daily. Property could be great, but these issues let it down.

The cottage was ideal for our family of 5.
The beach was only 7 minutes walk away and its absolutely amazing, the walks are fantastic. There are plenty of things to do for the kids within a 30 minute drive from the cottage. The town of Tenby is definitely worth visiting and then there's the oakwood theme park which was unfortunately closed due to time of the season. We did go to to the Blue Lagoon indoor water park which was great fun and the Heatherton outdoor adventures which again the kids enjoyed. The cottage itself was good with plenty of space and the facilities in the kitchen was perfect with everything you could need being there. The only negatives were plenty of dead or dying flies, but this was due to the time of the season with the temperatures dropping. Also the cold water pressure in the upstairs bathroom was very low and at times trickling through. The smell of the drying coffee in the boiler room left a really bad smell near the entrance to the cottage which became non existent by the time we left.

We loved our weeks stay at The Grange.
The cottage has everything you need for a lovely stay, a very well equipped kitchen and is very comfortable and warm. The front room has an open fire and was lovely to see a real fire in the evening. Whilst there were only two or us staying here the house is large and would easily accommodate 6 adults. The walk into Little Haven really does take less than 10 minutes, we ate at two lovely pubs; The Castle and St Brides, both served very good food. There is a steep hill on the way but the road is not too busy. If you like walking there are so many lovely costal walks around the area including Marloes, Solva, St Davids, Bosherton and the Lily Ponds at Stackpool which we found by mistake and is not to be missed. There are some beautiful beaches too. Certainly would recommend staying at the Grange without any hesitation.
