What our customers say about their holidays
Heather - Verified booking
From toasting marshmallows on the firepit to relaxing in the hot tub Malthouse Farm is just the most perfect place for a holiday.
We stayed here in the first week of August and were blessed with brilliant sunshine every day. The house is beautifully furnished and is decorated with lovely subtle colours throughout. It has a French vibe both inside and out, in fact whilst eating croissants for breakfast in the beautiful garden with clear blue skies above and the scent of lavender all around you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Provence. Malthouse Farm has been thoughtfully furnished with comfy beds, beautiful bedlinen, two wonderful cosy lounges with books and games to play during the long evenings and baskets of logs for the open fires. The utility room has a massive fridge/freezer and there is a pantry to store all your groceries, the large kitchen/diner is extremely well equipped with everything that you could possibly need plus a lovely Aga which wraps you in warmth and dries off swimwear in no time at all! We are a family of nine, grandparents, parents and grandchildren and from the lavender fields to the sea the area has something for all ages and everything is within a very short drive or within walking distance. We strolled to the beach at Heacham within minutes and although a little stony, large stretches of sandy shoreline can be found just a short drive from the house at Holme, Thornham and Brancaster. We took a trip on the Wash Monster at Hunstanton to see the seals and we visited the Sandringham Flower Show, sadly the King was not in attendance but Sandringham House and its lovely grounds are well worth a visit at any time of year. We just loved our holiday and would return in a heatbeat. Thank you Katie for your amazing welcome pack and for all your kindnesses whilst we were there ensuring that we had the most perfect time. The house is beautiful in summer but we suspect that it would be equally as gorgeous in winter for long wrapped up walks on the beach and cosy nights spent around the open fires. We will definitely be back! Thank you too to Sykes for your excellent admin in order to facilitate our very last minute break. What a brilliant choice, we cannot recommend this wonderful holiday home highly enough.

This is an excellent dog (and human) friendly property!
We found this at short notice and reduced price on the Sykes website - search filters narrowed down selection easily. With just two adults plus small dog the Old Police House had plenty of room inside and out. A large main bathroom with super shower and plenty of towel rail space, very clean and spacious. Living room area again generous and dining area with expanding table and space for six. Small conservatory area with doors to dog secure garden also a pleasant space to relax. Kitchen area nicely finished and plenty of crockery/cutlery, all white goods appeared very new and clean, dishwasher particularly welcome. Heating was very efficient, easy to control, plenty of hot water too! Upstairs in separate area off landing, washing machine and dryer also very new and clean. After reading the description and reviews for parking I was a little sceptical about how this would work out but neednât have worried - plenty of space for two cars in what was a very quiet and safe area off the lane behind property. Good chippy and Butcher nearby on main road towards Staithes and a very well stocked CoOp mini store further on. Local beaches all good and dog friendly, Hinderwell is very well placed for trips out especially if you are English Heritage members! This property would definitely be on our list to return with extra family members if we can get in again!

This is a dream property for anyone wishing to combine all the comforts of home with a stay in a setting that is off the beaten track and away from the many tourist hotspots, yet comfortably within reach of the coast and a wide variety of attractions.
If you would like to take a step back from the rat race, slow down, and slip into the rhythm of country life, this is the place - and you even get a chance to practice slowing down when you negotiate the narrow roads that abound in this area of Cornwall. The owners live in and run the farm in which the property is set, and could not be more kind and thoughtful, without in any way being intrusive. They are happy to give you as little or as much of their attention as you wish. Frenchman's Creek is just 10 -15 minutes walk through the woods, Helford Village less than 30 minutes further on. Some Do's and Don't's: DO try the ice creams at Gwella Dairy in St Martin DO visit the Pasty Shop at Gear DO venture out for a walk to Frenchman's Creek DO visit Gunwalloe Beach if you want to be able to wander without crowds of people around DO visit Coverack - really picturesque But: DON'T expect courtesy or politeness or "customer first" if you visit Holy Mackerel at Helford - however good the food may be! DON'T trust your Satnav to find Withan Farm - follow the instructions given when you make your booking. DON'T expect to find lots of available dates if you want to book this property again! Happy holiday!

This cottage and everything in it was so beautiful.
It had character and charm and it felt like a home that was loved and where people had lived happily for a long time. Ruth and Brindley went above and beyond a warm welcome. It was immaculately clean. The crockery and linen was a very high quality. Everything you needed was in the house, whisks, sensible knives, tea towels, dish cloth, kitchen roll, tin foil, cling film, plenty of toilet rolls, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. Each basin and sink had soap and a hand towel, which was lovely. Having everything to hand made living here so easy and made for an enjoyable holiday. The log burner had plenty of logs and was easy to use making the house cosy in the evening. Plenty of hot water was provided by the Rayburn. We could not have had a nicer stay anywhere. Lucky, lucky people who have booked this house they are in for a treat.

Withan Farm Wing is one of the most comfortable and spacious holiday cottages we have ever stayed in.
It is warm and homely it makes it really easy to relax and enjoy your holiday. When I spoke to our host Mrs Hosken she said that due to covid restrictions the house was more 'basic' this year, so I really didn't know what to expect. There was no need to worry - absolutely everything that you need is is there! Ruth and Brindley Hosken are the most friendly and welcoming hosts, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The house is only a short walk from Frenchmans Creek which is so peaceful is it well worth the short walk to enjoy the tranquillity. The house is situated so that secluded beaches and coastal walks are within easy reach so that social distancing is no problem! This is a wonderful holiday home and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you for our lovely stay in Cornwall.
