What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed at Sandy House for a week from 3-10 August.
We are a family of 5 with 3 under 5, and Maggie the dog. Sandy House is on a small cul-de-sac off a quiet road which means privacy and a minimum of foot and road traffic noises - bliss when youâve arrived from a town. It also meant that the children could ride their scooters up and down without fear when we were sitting at the front. As soon as we pulled up we were greeted by friendly neighbours on either side, all enjoying the last of the eveningâs sunshine. The house was extremely clean, smelled fresh and had everything we needed; Caroline and Quentin had even thought to stock the fridge with the essentials and left a welcome basket of goodies. The living area was large enough to hold our family but not feel like we were on top of each other, helped by the fact that the outdoor area was straight out of the bifold doors. We didnât use the decking much but with 3 small and active children there wasnât much chance to sit down anywhere! The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need, again it was all very clean and well look after. We also appreciated the inclusion of smaller sized cutlery and child-friendly crockery. The utility with washing machine and dryer was superb, and well used during the visit. The bunk beds, twin room and double (with en-suite) on the 1st floor were perfect for the family to spread out in. Each beautifully presented, beautifully clean and very welcoming. The enormous family bathroom and landing area was just perfect for bedtime/bathtime routine and the large, fluffy white towels were of good quality and spotless. On the top floor was a further double room with en-suite and the family room, complete with enormous tv, sprawling sofa and a gaming area. We hung out and watched films and listened to the Anglesey weather raging against the windows and even managed a sleep over up there on the last night. Overall we had a thoroughly brilliant time at Sandy House and felt right at home and extremely welcomed. The little touches throughout (the dog bed and bowl, the 1st aid kit/under the sink essentials, the bathrobes, the board games and candles, are just some examples) showed that the owners cared about their home and the environment they were trying to create for their guests during their holiday. I will be recommending Sandy House to my friends and family and on our next visit, weâll definitely try to book in again. Thank you Caroline and Quentin.

We stayed in the beautiful Bwthyn Awel cottage in January 2022.
The location, in Church Bay is lovely and peaceful with the Lobster Pot restaurant just a short walk from the cottage and a little further on is the beach. The house and facilities are as shown and detailed on the Sykes website but feels much homier than pictures can convey. It is modern looking inside and out with lots of lovely and thoughtful finishing touches. Bedding was charming and the beds very comfortable (which I was happily surprised to find!). There is a 1st floor balcony with decking which will be a lovely place to relax, sip a drink, read, admire the view⦠in the warmer months. Speaking of temperature, it was cold outside when we were staying there but we never felt a draft in the cottage, the water was hot and the temperature was cosy without being too warm. We had Wifi, Netflix and TV channels which we enjoyed from the comfy sofas in the first floor sitting room. Oh yes, and in the beautiful kitchen/eating area with the picturesque view there is a Nespresso machine so donât forget to pack some pods â or pop to Holyhead shops (a short drive away) to stock up on essentials. Holyhead also has some nice shops, cafés and pubs. If you want to eat out nearer to your new home from home â the the Lobster Pot restaurant is open throughout and I have to say the food there was delicious! Lots of seafood as you would expect but other carnivore and vegetarian options available too. We also saw a nearby café, but understand that is only open âin seasonâ. Overall, from our experience, it exceeded our expectations (as did the area) and the new owner couldnât have been more helpful re the very few queries we had. We will definitely be booking another stay in Bwthyn Awel later in the year.

We had a lovely week in this cottage as a family of four.
The cottage was a great base for exploring Anglesey and beyond and we will definitely stay again. It's a great location and we could walk down to the shops, cafe and pier etc. The cottage is a really nice place to go back to each evening with comfy beds. It was lovely and warm despite the bitter cold outside. The kitchen is well equipped and we found everything we needed. There is also a Waitrose 10 minutes drive away and they will deliver to the cottage which was handy. Parking was a bit tricky, but that's to be expected in a busy little place like Beaumaris and it is mentioned in the listing so we were expecting this, and we usually found a space within 5 minutes walk. Just a few things that would make this cottage even lovelier.... ⢠A shower caddy - there's nowhere to put your shower gel etc. ⢠Fresher towels - some of the towels had a slight odour as if they had maybe been stored somewhere for a little while. ⢠The blind cords need to be attached to the walls in all rooms as this is quite a risk when staying with young children. ⢠The "Private" cupboard in the second bedroom needs to be locked because it had bleach and cleaning materials inside and our son opened this cupboard whilst he was staying in this room. ⢠The mattress protectors could do with a wash. We stripped the beds at the end of our stay as requested in the book and noticed they were a little stained. ⢠The bath needs a proper plug because the silicone cover provided doesn't hold and the bath drains quickly whilst you're in it. Overall, a great place to stay and with a few tweaks it would be even better.

Weâre so glad we came back to âBreeze Cottageâ for another family holiday two years after our first experience of Church Bay ⦠the sun shone for most of our week there, and we took the ten minute walk to the beach every day!
Our swimmers and paddle-boarders enjoyed the safe water, and the local walks are many and varied. Location is everything, and the views over to Holyhead harbour full of interest, though we were glad that cruise liner passengers head elsewhere! We ate on the patio every evening, and the under-tens enjoyed playing in the garden, which thankfully is grass rather than lawn, and with no plants to damage. The garden gate to next doorâs garden enabled occasional play with the youngsters in the adjoining holiday-let cottage. When we tired of cooking for ourselves (and thereâs plenty of kit, so itâs easy to self-cater) Church Bay offers an excellent restaurant (The Lobster Pot) and the Wavecrest Café, both of which we sampled with pleasure. Just be aware that itâs safest to pre-book at the former, though you can always get a drink at their bar, and that the latterâs lovely strawberries and cream scones are only available Thursdays to Sundays. Some (mostly external) aspects of the cottage would benefit from maintenance, but the facilities all work well, with lots of hot water â having three bathrooms helps when youâre accommodating three family groups. The nowadays-essential Wi-Fi was fast enough to support all our many devices. The TV system needs some care to navigate, but we were able to enjoy watching the Olympic Games, even though our own swimming skills wouldnât have taken us to Paris! When our next family holiday heads to Anglesey, Bwthyn Awel will be on the short list.

I want to start with how much we love this apartment.
Weâve stayed in a few different apartments in Bryn Mel Manor but this one is our absolute favourite and this was our 3rd stay here. Our 18 yr old daughter absolutely loves it too. Itâs a perfect base to explore or just relax and breathe in the sensational view. Our stay this time was spoilt by boiler issues that were raised with Sykes directly. Obviously this wasnât a planned problem so we were very patient and amicable while I spent 4 days glued to my phone waiting for callbacks from Sykes and waiting in for an Engineer. It was Easter weekend with 2 bank holidays which possibly slowed responses down. Again we tried to be very understanding but the situation was causing me some stress because we were told we may need to move somewhere else which wasnât ideal. The Housekeeping Manager even came to try and help and told us we shouldâve had a welcome basket. We had only received a packet of Welsh cakes and arrived to a kitchen we had to clean over ourselves. We eventually ended up with an outcome that just about suited us. I would assume the boiler issue will have been rectified now and wonât cause anyone any further problems. The last few days of our break were relaxing and we would like to visit again. Itâs a beautiful apartment and we know how great stays here can be from past experience. I did hold off posting this because a Sykes manager was supposed to call me back within 48 hours of us returning from holiday to make some amends. After 2 weeks that looks unlikely.
