  We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

  The kitchen is very well stocked. Which was really useful. And there were plenty of cleaning supplies and dish soap etc. Although some of the plates in the cupboard were still dirty. The overall cleanliness was acceptable but I wouldn't describe it as thorough. Places obviously lacked vaccuming, there were a few items found under furniture etc that showed lack of attention to detail in cleaning. However, there was lots of fresh linen and the bedding was clean and comfortable. The back bedroom mattress is very soft, and probably wants replacing soon. The floor in the front double bedroom is extremely uneven. Whilst this is clearly a product of the age of the property, and in some regards to be expected, that is something that would have made it unusable to my parents, or perhaps elderly guests. It seems that the property had been empty for some time before our visit which was quite early in the year, as it was extremely cold and snowing. It took two days to heat the property back up and the living room stayed quite cold. There is the old front door in the room which let in a draft which could be easily fixed by attaching a large thermal curtain over it. We relied on the wood burning stove, but sadly no supplies, short of firelighters has been left. The shed was checked but this was also empty. As it was a late check-in, there was nowhere available to get firewood supplies by the time we got in and settled so we had to wait a day to use it. For us, we feel that this would have been a better touch than the arrival package if we had to pick one. Complaints aside, you really couldn't find a better location. The sea front is less than a minutes walk away. Shops, bars and cafés all within walking distance. We really did love our stay and Lyme in general. It's our second visit now and not the last.

  The word penthouse means Flat on the top floor off the building, typically one of luxuriously fitted.

  Posative things first- amazing view,location, parking, beds and sofas really comfortable. Well furnished, balcony loved that, specially my grandaughter. Showers are great. The negative parts which would made the holiday fabulous and special. Carpets need replacing or Professionally cleaned as dirty. Gripper rods from kitchen floor tiles to carpet need sorting as not nice when trodden on, spikes sticking through. Dirty under recliner, hair on toilet, toilet roll holders need to be putting on straight one pointing upwards and the other downward angle. Toilet brush holder need cleaning . Smart TV advertised is not the sitting room TV but a bedroom TV. Have to move toaster to be able to use. Oven smells like old fryer oil when in use. One of the Freezer draws has a whole in it. Vacuum cleaner when we went to use it, the brush part was full of hair, had to remove this to use. Could only have a shallow bath as runs out of hot water so is lukewarm. Would be good if there was more work top space in kitchen. Ceiling fans in bathroom need cleaning as full of dust, toilet brush dusty. Wall need refreshing up with paint. Some blackout curtains or blind in the beds rooms would be good. Hooks that were stuck to doors which have come off either replace or remove the sticky pads left on doors. Window in double room made a loud noise when opened and felt like it was coming of hinges, so closed and never opened again. These things make a big difference and If sorted out we would rebook.   The house was OK.

  Clean and basic facilities. It was dingy and claustrophobic - one window at the front obscured by an overgrown bush, and one at the back in the kitchen. No windows up stairs, only roof lights. The place welcomes pets (we don't have any), but had a bit of a musty smell of wet dog. There's shelves in the living room well stocked with books etc, but this gave the impression of being cluttered. There's lots of pictures on the walls at odd places, looking behind these cover dents/marks in the wall. No usable outside space - There was a back garden but no access to it - the only access being via the side and back of the row of properties, which was not at all practical. There's a bench at the front facing an overgrown bush and overgrown brambles. Facilities were basic - no washing machine or dish washer. Parking wasn't ideal. There are spaces more or less in front of the property which is fine, if they are available. More than once these were all taken and we had to park at the other end of the site (by the refuse/recycling bins). There is a hotel on the side with restaurant and pool. We didn't use these facilities, the weather wasn't quite good enough for the outside pool and there are plenty of nice restaurants in the area to try. Charmouth, Lyme Regis, and the Jurassic coast is a lovely area. If you're loking for somewhere basic, then this is fine. Would we recommend it, not really, unfortunately, I am sure there are better properties for the price to rent in the area.

  The property overall was surprisingly good.

  I say that because I have had experience of booking a holiday home through a company rather than a private hire before and they haven’t been too good. Firstly the cleanliness was superb. Beds were clean and fresh everywhere indoors was lovely. There was a lovely little welcome pack of tea, jam and biscuits. And we felt very at home. There were only two let downs. Firstly the bathroom on the ground floor had a few issues. The tap on the huge bath was wobbly from what looked like broken tiles around it. Also there was a bit of mould on the walls that needs attention and the skylight above the bath could have been lovely had it been clean and free of bird poo. Secondly both the BBQ’s hadn’t been cleaned by the previous users and we couldn’t use either of them, which was a shame as we had a lovely evening weatherwise when a BBQ would have been nice . I understand both these issues were not the responsibility of the cleaners so no criticism to them. On the whole though we have a lovely stay and would recommend this house to everyone.

  Although the cottage itself was ok, it really does need some TLC.

  It is a victorion property so wasn't surprised by the steep staircase or downstairs bathroom. However it was the little things like the sofas are really worn along with the cushions all needing to be replaced. During these covid times the soft furnishings just seemed too used and I thought more of an effort should've been made to change these regularly. The cooker wasn't exactly clean either. There must've been a leak in the roof because there was a big water stain on the main bedroom ceiling (a little lick of paint would've made all the difference). But by far the worse thing was there was no mention of just how narrow the lane was to access the property. Its that tight that we had to pull in the side mirrors on our car to get up the lane, then there was the negotiating of the area to fit the car into the allocated space. If we had known this we would not have booked this property. To finish on a positive note the view from the main bedroom is gorgeous and Bridport is a wonderful town. West Bay is also just a couple of miles walk away.
