What our customers say about their holidays

Sykes websites states Fridge only, there is a separate free standing small Freezer with drawers.
The Owners both very efficient, friendly, and weâre on hand for any problems, we encountered no problems during our long weekend stay. The Visitors/Guest Book was full of positive feedback and thanks from world wide Guests. Suited us well, two bedrooms, one double, one single, which meant my husbandâs use of his sleep apnoea machine at night was easily connected. Shower over bath, which connected to the mains water supply, adjusted by the tap connection. The water pressure brilliant and easily controlled. Ideally a walk in shower is best for people not able to climb over the Bath side. The kitchen has no windows directly to the outside, but the connecting door to the small lobby can be propped open for fresh air and daylight from the outside window and door there. The kitchen lighting is by ceiling strip lighting. Freeview Channel TV. Secure parking for one car in front of the propertyâs adjacent garage. Quiet area in village, within a two minute walk of the village shop and Post Office. Wifi available, easy to access. File at this property for details, eg cooker instructions, etc. Local Tourist Information available, kept in lounge dresser drawer. Greeted and shown round by the Owner on arrival. Our first visit to the Newmarket area, attending a special birthday occasion. We experienced very slow congested traffic in Newmarket on our Friday arrival. We experienced delays, informing the Owners of our delays. I had decided to re-order supplies from the Waitrose Supermarket, who informed us could not deliver to the holiday address, we then understood why! We did their âClick and Collectâ system, which worked well, but the traffic hindered again. (Not enough traffic lights in Newmarket to keep the traffic flowing, I think) There is also a Tesco. Newmarket is world renowned for Horse Racing and Studs. The Owners told us the Newmarket Season came to and end the weekend before, telling us 20,000 influx of visitors. We passed many beautiful properties. Newmarket is also easily accessible by train. There are many locations for visits nearby, eg English Heritage, National Trust. If attended any Horse events, Cheveley village is also ideal, as well as Newmarket itself.

We've visited the property a couple of years in a row now.
And we may leave it a little while before we visit again primarily for reasons in regards to facilities and maintenance. Please do not get us wrong. The majority of the property is in good nick. But there are a few things that could be improved. For instance, the washing machine either needs maintenance or replacing. The drum is loose and bangs against its chassis making it sound like something is banging a door loudly disturbing us and possibly the nice lady with the cats upstairs. The dishwasher fuse spur is faulty. It makes an intermittent buzzing noise which is a little disconcerting and could be an electrical hazard. You need to give it a little tap to ensure the connection works otherwise the dishwasher doesn't turn on. I think I remembered this from our previous stay as it took a while to work out why it wasn't working. Also quite a few light bulbs weren't working, including the one in the cooker hood that I think has been that way in both our stays. So likely broken for more than a year. I know this feels like splitting hairs, but it's the little things that add up and make a place feel looked after and special. Especially when you are paying a fair amount to stay there. Just a few things like the Jenga tower in the cupboard with the taped up bag could be put in something that looks a little less sad, and a bit more loved. The door's knocker and letterbox have seen better days. From some of the feedback left in the guest book about how much hasn't changed and that aspects of the property could do with a little TLC, we agree with this and things like the aforementioned. Would we stay here again in future? Absolutely. The above is by no means a deal breaker. The property has a very calm feeling about it that we can't explain. Whatever happened when the whole property was a hospital must have been good. The beds are very comfortable. It's very clean and the instructions clear in regards to monitoring our energy use.

Our stay in Southwold. We've always loved Southwold but some of the holiday lets don't allow dogs and some are very over priced. We've stayed once before in a rental and also in the two hotels. These stays were good but compared to our stay at Bovis Cottage they just don't compare in any way. So we arrived for a 10 day stay. We couldn't have been better pleased. The first 2 days our grown up sons, aged 20 and 23 were with us as well. So 4 adults and 2 dogs in the cottage at night! There was bags of room it was great. The cottage itself is very good. The location even better. You are situated at the start of the High Street. so all of what is going on is at your door step. We could walk down the High Street and shops, go to the pier and the sea front. Or we could turn left and go across the common for a nice walk. Or turn right and make our way down to the harbour for fresh sea food, fish and more. We had a great time at a cottage that couldn't be better placed for a great break. I would recommend for a family as well as its a great big garden front and back.

We booked four nights at The Feathers and were very happy.
It is nicer than the pictures. The apartment is spacious , plenty of storage, comfortable, warm, plenty of hot water and nice showers, just watch your delicate bits on the ensuite radiator as you get out of the shower. It had everything we needed. The dining table is nice and long and perfect for evening supper after a long day exploring. We were four adults and one child, but it is big enough for 6 adults. It is in a good location, but you definitely need a car. You can walk to the local pub, The White Hart, but it is a bit of an adventure across the footpaths and took us about 40 minutes and it was light. We also left our car in The White Hart carpark and walked to Southwold, it is a good walk. There is a bus that you can get back from Southwold to Blythburgh and it doesn't take long. Check the bus times before you go, I think the bus number was 99A. The Feathers is very good value for what you are getting and is definitely one of the best apartments I have stayed in. I would highly recommend and would stay there again.

It is an absolutely glorious place to stay and we all loved it!
High ceilings, lovely views, the property is immaculate, yet super comfortable and makes you feel at home. Spacious; none of the rooms make you shimmy between dresser and bed etc! Beds are nice and big, the living area is huge and the table is a great size - it took a jigsaw puzzle at one end and 5 people eating around the table with no issues. The onsite facilities are great - the pool was lovely as was the games room. We put a reserve in for the swimming pool and got a better time; the original times available were at 8pm or 9pm at night. I read the review from Dec23, but everything is rectified from that visit - bowls aplenty. My only comment would be when communicating with holiday makers beforehand, it might be worth adding instructions on turning left and going all the way around the back of the building to park, as it did take us a while to find the spot specific to the apartment.
