What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Worner-Gibbs - Verified booking
Walnut Cottage is such a lovely cottage and the perfect place to unwind, relax and recharge. On arrival the cottage beckoned us with its warm welcome and we felt immediately relaxed and at home. A very tasty home baked lemon drizzle cake and welcome note was waiting for us along with everything we needed to make a much needed cup of tea and coffee after our long journey. The cottage is light and spacious whilst retaining the authentic feel of a country cottage. We loved the well equipped kitchen which leads into the entrance area providing plenty of space for coats and boots. This, in turn, leads into a well equipped utility room with downstairs loo. It was lovely to have a spacious dining room with a large table and chairs. The sitting room area is equally spacious and the furniture very comfortable and stylish. The large garden is beautiful and the outdoor seating area is perfect for relaxing and listening to the wonderful birdsong. There is so much attention to detail in the cottage and clear that the needs of the guests have been carefully considered. The downstairs is spacious with plenty of room for dog beds and crates whilst still leaving plenty of room for the humans! Upstairs is equally as comfortable, spacious and beautifully equipped. The location is very rural with some really great walks from the cottage but with plenty of interesting places to visit just a short drive away, including the coast. We found Walnut Cottage to be the perfect place for two and four legged guests and plan to come back for a visit, in fact, we didn't really want to go home we loved it so much! It was also a pleasure to meet the lovely owners, who delivered us some fresh eggs from the farm.

Wonderful property, just what we needed for our party for our daughter's wedding!
She stayed with us and left from there on the wedding morning looking gorgeous! One bathroom between 6 was sometimes challenging but we knew each other well enough that used the ensuite bathroom as second one for anyone. Gas BBQ worked a treat. Though we had no times for games, a comment in guest book alerted us to the amazing boardgames, etc. in the table in the living room - maybe highlight that much more clearly for future guests? Both toilets just occasionally continued flushing for a long time; I lifted lid of cistern of one and managed to do something (not sure what!) to stop it happening. One pint glass broken but able to let owner know - disposed of it in domestic waste wheelie bin. The recycling bag not quite able to hold all the recycling we generated. We chose the property as my husband is disabled and the access to the large ensuite bedroom via the French windows was fantastic. There is a tiny step into the ensuite bathroom and 2 steps up to the kitchen but with help he was fine. Otherwise, the downstairs is on one level, with wide doors and passageways. From the listing's wording, it wasn't too clear which bedrooms upstairs and downstairs had option of twin beds. Local 24-hour garage 2 minutes away had a very useful shop. All in all, a marvellous place to stay, have left us with happy memories, thank you! Would highly recommend it.

Lovely property.
Very well maintained, it looked very new, absolute nothing was worn or grubby. So impressed with all of the amenities. The bottle of wine and cake that were left for us were particularly appreciated. The thing that put this so high in my estimation was the the cleanliness and attention to detail. Whoever is in charge of housekeeping/cleaning are an absolute credit to themselves! Three bedrooms and three bathrooms made life so much easier than trying to share. One thing that might be a small problem to anyone with a large dog is that there isnât a garden as such, thereâs a small patio area at the front of the property. Our dog is very small so it was fine for us. There are lots of walks in the immediate vicinity though. The Stag Inn is a couple of miles away and serves very good food, we ate there every evening. Reasonably priced and a huge selection of gins and whiskeys. lovely staff. We didnât find anywhere else close by that served food. There is a well stocked Co-op in Prospect but the nearest larger supermarket seemed to be Lidl in Wigton. The property is about 75 minutes north of Lake Windermere.Itâs in a convenient place for Carlisle or areas further North. If I ever returned to this area I would definitely stay again.

First and foremost, the cottage was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was well-stocked with modern appliances, and the cozy living room invited us to unwind after a day of exploring. The cottage is tucked away in a lovely and quiet spot, allowing us to fully relax and recharge. Upon arrival, we were pleased to find the cottage spotlessly clean and in excellent condition. The owners clearly take great pride in maintaining the property to the highest standards, and it made our stay all the more comfortable. One of the major highlights of this cottage is its strategic location. We were able to use it as a fantastic base for exploring both Suffolk and Norfolk. Day trips to Norwich, Ipswich, and Lowestoft were easily achievable, and we also enjoyed the shops and restaurants in the smaller surrounding towns. There are many nearby public footpaths. We made a few walks through the scenic countryside, discovering the local wildlife and enjoying the fresh air. All in all, this holiday cottage exceeded our expectations in every way possible. It a well-equipped retreat, perfect for both relaxation and exploration. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable getaway in Suffolk.

Mrs J Fielding .. 26th June - 3rd July 2021 Had a lovely stay at Lavender Cottage. The cottage was very clean and cosy, and had a nice private patio area to sit and relax in after a long day! The bedrooms were quite spacious, but please be careful of the ceiling where it slopes, its really easy to bang your head especially if your tall. Outside the property there was parking for two cars, which was a real bonus, with some properties you only get one .. great when there's four of you and two cars. The cottage is in a great location, pleanty of walks for the dog, a lovely pub (great food) and corner cafe shop down the road which are both dog friendly, and the beach is a good 10 minute walk down the road, it is a pebble beach, but you can take dogs on it .. Stanley loved it. Overall, we had a great stay at Lavender Cottage, it had everything to make our holiday a good one, we even received a welcome pack on arrival, which was a nice surprise. We will definitely be back at Lavender Cottage again soon. Thank you!
