What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Furzeman - Verified booking
Decorated and furnished to a very high standard ,with spectacular views of the Conwy valley, we had a lovely comfortable relaxing stay at this property with our dog Hatchi. Only a few minutes walk from the village centre, with walks to suit most, we didn't need to venture far. That said Betsw-y-Coed and Llanberis are a 10 and 20 minute drive respectively. Great pies and pastries from the local butchers and we can recommend the dog friendly Fairy Falls inn, we also enjoyed a take away curry from the same establishment. The village also has an enclosed dog park which was a great for our big boy. The property is situated up a short but steep hill but after a couple of days we were striding up with little effort. A collapsible luggage trolley is available to help with taking luggage from your car Liz,the owner was very nice and helpful and easily contactable if needed. We have stayed at several holiday properties over the years and this is one of the best, we certainly plan on returning. Mike,Tracey and Hatchi.

The cottage location was very good.
The decor was fine but not the contents. As with all similar holidays we have experienced, from a variety of suppliers, there were no sharp bread knives and in this one , no bread board either. Likewise the sofa and arm chair were ancient and uncomfortable. But worse of all, the freezer was full of the owners left over food in plastic containers ( the owner retrieved a rhubarb crumble from said freezer whilst we were there! ), the chest of drawers were full of old towels . There was no wardrobe in the second bedroom though plenty of room for one. Our wardrobe had two duvets jammed in it and two suits in it etc⦠the kitchen had a 1977 slow cooker and a garlic peeler but only 6 odd cups for three of us to use? There were photos of the owners in the downstairs rooms = it was like being watched. So ideal location but it felt like someone else was living there and had just popped out.

Lavender Cottage was a delightful find by my husband !
We wanted a place to stay so we could visit family and walk Mam Tor .. We were thrilled with the comfort of the cottage . Our thanks to Carol and Gregg for making our stay Just that â¦they had thought of everything that one could need on a break away . The cottage was very clean and lovely and warm and lots of hot water too â¦always important .. Stanton By Dale is a very pretty village and we enjoyed meals in the Stanhope Arms , made to feel very welcome there . From Stanton By Dale itâs easy to visit tourist attractions via the M1 .. Would recommend Hardwick Hall and Kedleston Hall ⦠We visited Kedleston again on this visit but did some of the parkland for a nice walk . In Ilkeston you have Tesco for essentialsâ¦easy to find .. We throughly enjoyed our visit and the fact our accommodation was so good made it all the more enjoyable.

Property was beautiful, lovely and quiet and had everything we needed for our stay.
The welcome cake and bottle of wine was a pleasant gesture. Cleanliness I put as a 4 star, the property was clean and presented beautifully on arrival, however, it was a bit dusty & dirty behind the furniture. We moved the armchair to get a better view of the tv and it was dusty and dirty behind it in the living room. I also moved the bedside draws to use the plug and there was all cobwebs and thick dust behind. I understand the property is old but the cobwebs could still be removed from behind furniture and on windowsills. It honestly didnât affect our stay as the settings and surroundings was perfect for us I just wanted to mention it. The gardens were lovely and our dog loved having a wander around and listening to the geese! We would definitely recommend October cottage and stay again.

Nick and I had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at Lavender Cottage.
There is plenty of space which was a bonus as we both had some work to do and could find 2 work spaces. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, although we did choose to eat at the 2 local pubs plus an amazing Indian restaurant called Lime on the outskirts of Nottingham. The staff in both pubs are very welcoming and the food is good value. On fine days we enjoyed the circular walks from the village and one by the Erewash and Nottingham canals. The log fire was a bonus in the evenings. The cottage is excellent value at the time we visited and the owner is very helpful if you need anything. She agreed to send on an item we had left and did this within 24 hours. We would highly recommend this holiday cottage and the village of Stanton by Dale and hope to return in the future.
