What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage was furnished to a very high standard and we enjoyed our stay.
Its position sits on a very busy road but the traffic going past didnt bother us. There is no pavement so walking the dog was an issue but we went out every day. The parking for your car is down a steep slope, next to a garage, and getting back out is a trial as you cant see the traffic coming. A road mirror opposite would be a big help. The only small points with the cottage were my wife wished there was a dressing table mirror to sit at when drying her hair. There should also be a roller blind on the landing and bathroom windows as the houses opposite get a good view if you forget yourself. On the positive side, the cottage has loads of plug sockets, some with usb ports. The jacuzzi bath was great fun (the plug is a dial on the side) and the kitchen had everything you could need. The shower was excellent and the beds are very comfortable. The sofas are both electric recliners with usb ports in the side.Fantastic and very comfy. I would speak to Gavin, the owner, who runs the pub next door, about parking in the pub car park, if the slope bothers you. Would recommend Fernleigh Cottage as a good base for the south Lake District. The pub next door does great food and beer and we ate there a couple of times. The staff were lovely and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

We really enjoyed our stay at Knott View, Cautley.
The owners are very friendly and nice people. Florence absolutely loved spending some time on the working farm, and the owners were very nice with her. The cottage is well-equipped and comfy, with great views over the Howgill Fells. Good hiking trails in the area (including from the farm, which is not far from the Pennine Way) and handily located for easy access to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Sedbergh is a lovely little market town with some nice places to eat and a fantastic secondhand bookshop (Westwood Books). All in all, heartily recommended. We'll be back, I'm sure (to try out the Cross Keys).

A fantastic 3 days break with lots of memories made during this time.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything required to make our stay a home from home. We frequented the lovely pub next door each day and we're made to feel extremely welcome especially our little staffie smudge who got lots of attention. We can recommend the food as we ate there 2 days out of the 3 and also had breakfast on our leaving day which is a must if you are staying in the area. The cottage is in a great position to visit all the south lakes attractions which are all within a 30 mins drive. Will definitely be returning when we get the opportunity. Thanks for our lovely stay Sarah,Steve and Smudge x

The owners of this cottage were warm and welcoming without being in any way intrusive.
The cottage itself was perfectly positioned for a couple just wanting a bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle, and charmingly cosy inside, whilst being well stocked with all you need for a self catering break. The nearby town of Sedbergh is fab for pubs, food, and browsing the bookstores. It is also perfectly placed for day trips out to places like Kendal, Ulverston and Windermere. The surrounding countryside is simply perfect...all rolling hills and waterfalls...ideal for forgetting it all for a day or two. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are planning on visiting again soon.

We found this cottage to be far better than we expected.
The photos of the lounge do not do it justice, there are now 2 new leather recycling sofas and the curtains have been replaced with modern blinds. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean and was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The Pheasant pub was very welcoming and served delicious food. We parked next to the cottage which was fine for us as we only have a small car however on arrival we were told we were welcome to park in the pub car park if we preferred but we didn't need to. Good location for exploring the Lake District. Had a great week.
