What our customers say about their holidays
Damson - Verified booking
Absolutely loved staying at the Towers - Castell.
It was wonderfully clean, spacious and welcoming. The village itself didn't get overly busy, which is good if holiday crowds aren't your thing, and being that close to the beach was heavenly. Being able to watch/hear the sea was a lovely way to have your morning tea. The rooms were lovely and spacious with sufficient storage, very clean and well maintained and the kitchen had most of the basics (no pizza tray though!). The USB plug in the bathroom (on the end of the light under a cover) with the shaver plug sockets was a nice touch. The WiFi coverage was pretty good and there was enough coffee/tea provided for a few days so you could just walk in and have a cuppa as soon as you get there - with the addition of a pint of milk in the fridge to welcome you. The food from the local chip shop (Castle Fish and Chips) was outstanding and the staff were lovely, but be prepared for long queues and it isnt cheap, but not overly expensive either and is good value for money. The ice cream shop (Cadwaladers) was also good, very helpful (I have food intolerances) but the portion sizes weren't great for the price. There is loads to do without having to travel miles (but you can and we did), and we are really happy we chose to have the Towers as a base. The only drawbacks were the low points on the ceiling (my husband cracked his head a couple of times - but the listing did warn of this!) and the 3 flights of stairs which were a bit much after doing an 11 mile walk. Price wise we found it very reasonable, we stayed for 2 weeks in the summer holidays and it didn't break the bank. Overall, I am very happy with the stay we had and happy to recommend The Towers - Castell as an excellent place to stay.

On arrival front of cottage scruffy with weeds, window boxes also dead with weeds!
No welcome package, (1st time ever on Sykes cottage) the room seems over cluttered and no cupboard for our food we had bought. The tiny conservatory at the back was full of tiny flies and the manhole cover banged when going to back door! TV not working, no folder with details of how things worked within the cottage or where the washer was? the fridge is tiny with big freezer section above, if any problem, no phone number! had to call Sykes who where extremely helpful and contacted the owner. Who in turn tried to explain how to get the TV on! still struggling, finally sorted the following afternoon! Meaning, having to wait in the cottage, instead of going to the beach! One thing you really expect is Comfort, sad to say this was completely missing here, the sofa under the stairs, when I sat on it I felt like I was sitting on the floor! Really struggling to get up off this sofa, the second one near TV was so hard and when 2 people were sitting on it , you sunk towards the centre! and again uncomfortable. Checking under cushions this sofa is a sofa bed! The stairs are high and narrow step and steep, prayed the rope on the wall was strong! The double bed was hard as nails! was in agony morning after, at this time I wanted to go home!!! We ended up sleeping on top of the duvet! but still awful weeks sleep! Plus a huge box at bottom of bed (why, taking up a lot space! empty space under the bunk beds) The shower unit could do with a good bleaching! Criccieth is lovely and we had the best weather, but would not be rebooking Menuchah cottage, really spoilt our weekâs holiday.

Firstly, the flat was amazing, it was clean, directly opposite the beach with amazing sea views and exactly as advertised on your site.
As mentioned in previous reviews, the owners left milk, Welsh cakes and tea, coffee, and sugar for when we arrived at the property. However, we didnât use any of the tea, coffee or sugar as it was in unlabelled jars and who knows how long it was there, or who else had come into contact with it - a couple of individual sachets as you get in hotels would have been much more welcome. There was plenty of crockery and cooking items for us ( we wash up and donât use a dishwasher) it was really well stocked and everything matched which was really nice. There was even an iron and ironing board, and a first aid kit. Other ânegativesâ that just took the slight shine off of the otherwise wonderful property were: * the bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on, the mattress actually caused pain to lay on it was so hard - invest in a slightly better quality mattress or get a decent memory foam topper! * two bath towels (not large bath sheets) and one hand towel is not enough for two people for a week. * as you are putting milk in the property, you know someone will be there later that day - switch the hot water on so we can have a shower after an 8 hour journey. * the light in the hallway desperately needs the sensors adjusting - it doesnât come on when you come into the flat, but does when you are entering or leaving the bedroom, not very helpful when one of you needs the loo frequently during the night!

The views from the apartment were lovely, apartment was spacious and clean.
There is no elevator to get upstairs, so this is something to consider if you have difficulty getting up stairs. Contrary to the listing, there was NO handheld shower in the en suite bathroom. We booked for 4 people to stay and all of us staying had to use the one shower. That said, the one shower was very good, although a fairly small cubicle. The beds were beyond uncomfortable. We had a terrible first nights sleep, and had to improvise and put cushions and pillows on top of the mattress in order to be able to get any sleep for the remaining 5 nights. Kitchen is pretty well set up, with everything we needed to cook and eat in the cabinets. Toilet paper provided not enough for the time booked, since it was not on the list of items to bring and we were told on enquiry we would not be given any more, we had to go buy more. I would suggest this be added to the list of suggestions to bring with you, and also make information available on where to find things like rubbish/trash bags in the apartment. Based on the lack of sleep due to uncomfortable beds we would not stay at the Towers Castell again. Based on the misleading information about the hand held shower option I would question the amenities listings given for other Sykes properties.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment with stunning views.
We saw dolphins and porpoises most days and loved the sound of the sea from the entire apartment. As you would expect with a top floor flat, the ceilings are a little low in places and there are lots of stairs but that wasn't a problem for us (although no obvious fire escape other than the main stairs). The flat was generally clean and well maintained although the shower door was broken. There are no books or games in the apartment but there were two hairdryers (not on the listing). More hooks in the bathrooms would be very useful, and more than two dishwasher tablets for a week's stay would have been appreciated! Blinds on the skylight windows really are required too - the bathrooms are a little overlooked and sleeping in bedroom 3 with no blind was tricky so we had to make our own window covering. All in all though it is a lovely place to spend a relaxing holiday.
