What our customers say about their holidays
Andrews - Verified booking
11-2-22. We have just had a wonderful, relaxing stay at this property which was a party of six adults and a small dog.
Having read previous reviews of the property before we booked it, I can say when we arrived last week that the property was spotless. It is obvious that previous cleaning issues have now been fully resolved. On arrival, we found a âwelcome packâ which consisted of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and also chocolates and a bottle of Prosecco which we thought was a nice gesture from the owners. The property was fully equipped with everything required for our stay. On entering the hallway, we found the cloaks cupboard very handy for all our coats to be hung out of the way and the shoe/boot rack for wet shoes. Even outside the front door under the entrance walkway were two wellie bootsâ stands. The furniture is comfortable and the rooms are a good size with a large lounge, kitchen and very pleasant conservatory with open views for dining in. The lounge, in particular, was very cosy on an evening with the log burner lit, which itself became a focal point. All areas and rooms were warmed throughout from the central heating and hot water was not a problem any time of day or night. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious with excellent TVâs and reception. It was in a very nice, peaceful location with excellent links to all areas by road and buses, although we did not use the buses. The kitchen was fully equipped with all good quality appliances in full working order, as was all the crockery and cutlery, and very modern and clean too. Outside were nice garden areas which I am sure are wonderful in warmer times to relax outside. About 150 yards away is the Kingâs Arms pub where a good variety of meals can be had. Our party ate there twice during our stay and all the meals are excellent, as was the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. We will certainly be returning here in the future and can highly recommend it to others. On the whole, although we were not looking for any, we could not fault this accommodation. Very enjoyable and a credit to the owner.

The property is in a superb location right next to the Lake and with its own small jetty, and is reasnably comfortable as well.
However, there were many niggles which for the sum paid to rent, took the shine off our holiday: 1. The road down to it is in a very poor state with large and deep potholes (if you have any back issues, which we did, dont do it); 2. Brambles grew in from the sides of the road, some of which you couldnt avoid (if you value your car paintwork again dont do it); 3. The jetty had a few maintenance issues (other properties had been renovated, this one hadnt), and there was even some broken glass not cleared from the foreshore; 4. the property was not very well cleaned with cobwebs and spiders in the kitchen and the entrance lobby hadnt been cleaned for sometime; 5. The best north lakeside walk (to Grubbins Point) was out-of-bounds due to a private function, the south walk outside the house, was covered in water so difficult to navigate and the garden that we were told was open, wasn't; 6. Maintenance issues are covered by the estate and they dont man the phones at weekends, so any issues on arrival, wont be dealt with until Monday (we had a few with the shower head broken, batteries flat in TV control, and not enough drinking glasses (there were other missings in the kitchen utilities as well); 7. Doorways are quite low, so myself and my eldest daughter (who are only 5' 10/11") hit our heads regularly; 8. The blind to the en-suite doesnt fully cover the sides of the windown glass and there is a footpath at the end of the garden; 9. The drawers to the bedroom furniture need easing so they open - and they should be checked by the cleaner as we found someone else's sock left behind. Sorry to moan but these were all genuine issues faced, which to be honest for the level of property we were renting and paying for, we dont think we should have encountered.

My partner and I stayed in white stones at the beginning of May with our two dogs, A Flat Coated Retriever and a Belgian Malinois.
It was a perfect little getaway and base to explore the beach, the surrounding routes round the sheep fields and a short drive to places like Barrow-In-Furness and walks around Windermere. The bath after a long day of walking on a sunny afternoon was absolutely dreamy. The shower was a perfect place to wash the dogs sandy paws whilst they dried off sunbathing on the patio. The heating was easy to use and we were cozy throughout but the first two nights we were boiling in the attic room as we didnât realise you could safely open the skylights. They were much too heavy for me so I was persuaded that they didnât open until my partner finally tried in the end and it kept the room at a perfect temp in the evening. One thing I would say is that the fence at the end of the garden wasnât very tall so any dog that is capable of jumping 3ft or so could easily scale it and escape through the neighbours courtyard in to to the road as the wind tend to keep their gate open. The gate in the garden also has a gap at the bottom that a small-medium dog could slip under and the gap between the fence and the gate where the hinges connect them could easily be slipped through by a small-medium dog or large slim dog. We also thought weâd see the sea more often but the waves were miles out by mid morning and didnât return till the evening so Iâd recommend checking tide times before going if thatâs important to you. Other than that the place was lovely, we canât speak on the two downstairs bedrooms as those were kept closed and werenât used but they were clean and tidy from what we saw. Weâd recommend popping down the road to The Milk Hut thatâs a 4 minute walk away to get some fresh milk or milkshakes. That was our highlight!

Beautiful location and cottage, right at the end of the road so quiet though you will get a lot of walkers in the summer.
There are excellent walks along the lake and further and red squirrels running around in the garden. Would definitely stay here again. A few comments and things to flag to the owner. The cottage is 18th century and listed and so you should expect some idiosyncrasies in terms of comfort and decoration, however some areas look like they could do with a bit of TLC. The cooker, as others have mentioned, is an aga-type and so using the oven is a bit hit and miss - make sure you give it plenty of time to warm up and close the door properly. We had some issues with the heating - the timer/pump was on but the boiler was not and needed to be reset a few times during the stay. Somebody has obviously tried to burn coal on the dining room grate in the past and melted it - we found it outside and did use it as it's very difficult to keep the fire going without one. Dogs - there are very specific instructions about where dogs are allowed in the book when you get to the cottage (non-carpeted areas) that are not made clear in the listing which might put many people off. TV - some people have had difficulties. There is a freesat box which picks up everything you need, however there is only one HDMI cable so there needs to be another provided as otherwise you have to choose to plug it or the dvd player in. Also there are some issues with the freesat box - it seems to regularly reset itself while your watching something so may need replacing. A positive compared to the listing though - the internet is obviously improved from where it was and is fine for streaming netflix/bbc etc - the apps are available on the TV. Overall, these are fairly small issues that can be easily addressed and didn't detract from overall a lovely stay.

I really am not sure that anyone reads the feedback given!
Last year when we stayed at Hullet Hall I remarked that the locks were sticky and that it is not easy to open the doors with the key. This is the same this year, either a new key or oil the locks or replace all the locks. New points: Dustbins. There is only one dustbin. So all bagged rubbish has to be kept in the fridge/freezer/washing machine room as there is a wandering Staffordshire Bull terrier, dog, brindled with a long tail that visits and opens any rubbish sacks left outside, distributing the contents widely. I suggest therefore 2 or three wheelie dustbins that can be categorised for recycling. Mixing bowls, there are none. I thoroughly recommend H Hall and will book again, though not in 2019. As a landlord of accommodation for 80 I understand what is required to keep up to date, on top of small problems and keeping the clients content, so I believe that my comments are constructive. Prove me wrong that feedback is read by sending me a personal email!
