What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage is lovely, and its location within the Main Street of the village was so handy, a 10 second walk to the shop, bakery, any of the three pubs.
I managed to park the car within 100meters of the cottage each day too. Our morning walk in the valley to the Youlgreave books was blissful. My only negative is there is no sound proofing with next door, so at times it felt like they were in our house, not sure if they were renters too or local so appreciate it may or may not be a regular occurrence. There didnât seem to be any bin bags which is no biggie as the village shop was 10 seconds walk away but blue recycling bin in the shed, obviously hadnât been put out the week before us (as requested on the notice) so the bin was over flowing before we got there with mouse droppings in it. Again not something that can be helped. There didnât seem to be any notice of what is recyclable or not in Derbyshire and what to do on check out apart from with the key. We striped the beds and put the used towels in the bathroom not a biggy just hope we did what they wanted. Over all it was a fantastic week and the cottage was really lovely just minor points which I am not sure the owners would have any control off but I thought worth mentioning.

What a wonderful well-equipped cottage.
We had a fabulous pre-Christmas break, the house was decorated, which delighted the grandchildren, and we played many of the board games in front of the log burner whilst the gale force wind whistled outside, but we felt lovely and snug. The beds were so comfy and the clothing storage was adequate for our family. We all enjoyed the walks along the river and popping into the local pubs each evening, we really felt welcomed by all the locals. We shopped in the bakery and the supermarket which were reasonably priced. This was one of the most well equipped cottages we have ever stayed in, we were able to cook and bake as the kitchen had every utensil you could possibly need. We had two doggies who regularly got muddy due to the December weather, but the set-up of the boot room entrance and the flagged floor helped us to clean them up easily . If this cottage draws your attention, book it, youâll love it! Ps: despite having no designated parking space this did not hamper us in anyway, we always found a parking space, and we had 2 cars!

Our 2nd visit to this property, on our last visit we left a list of minor items needing attention.
None of these have been addressed by the owners. Most are comfort items like lights not working or flickering, sofas being torn or worn out, doors needing adjustment as they stick closed, bath/shower valve stuck in between the two, oven thermostat not working, grill not working, etc but some are safety such as fire extinguishers showing no pressure or out of date, no electrical inspection date or PAT tests. We knew the property is located on a working farm but did not expect a diesel generator running for hours every night. It's a shame as the property is very spacious and in a stunning location. We had considered visiting again next year but the massive price hike on next year's price means we will be looking elsewhere unless the owners are investing in a full refurbishment over winter.

A beautiful property with attention to detail.
if you're looking for an idyllic, cosy cottage getaway in the peaks, this is perfect. The weather in January wasn't the best for lots of walks, but the log burner and cosy living room meant that staying in and warming up to the fire made up plenty for that. Hunters cottage had lots of eco friendly extras available, a lovely touch such as dog biscuits which they thoroughly enjoyed, and what I am most impressed with - plenty of amenities available - bin bags, every utensil we could possibly need, bin bags, dog bowls, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, pots, pans, a request for dogs to not sit on the sofa (understandable) and then DOG blankets to add to said sofa. I cannot express how impressed I am. i'm sure it wont be our last visit.

Stonecroft is a beautiful old building with a comfortable, modern feel.
It was great to be so central in the town, as well as the rest of the Peak District. The house was clean and the decoration and furniture to a high standard. Lots of storage for clothing etc. The kitchen was fully equipped and the extra touches of wine and biscuits, teabags was thoughtful. We had lovely weather so were able to spend time in the court yard, this was secure for dogs. A parasol would have come in useful though. The house is not on a main road, so mostly quiet at night. It was great to have off road parking in the town. The house was a fab base for our small group and we would stay again if back in Bakewell. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
