What our customers say about their holidays

This is our second visit to this lovely cottage, having thoroughly enjoyed the situation and peaceful setting, well away from the road.
It is set within extensive grounds, including a beautiful garden available for visitors and areas for families to sit in the sunshine while the children play. As per the description, this Grade II cottage IS rare and quirky, absolutely NOT modern, but totally enchanting. If you are looking for a state of the art upgraded place to stay with all mod cons... this isnt it. This is not an ultra-modern property, and that really IS part of its charm. It doesn't have a dishwasher, as noted in the cottage description - but it's easy living and very relaxing. It is absolutely a family letting, for those with children, and although it would be possible to provide for more than two adults, the single beds really are for children. The description is clear regarding the lack of WiFi - in that there isn't any, or at least barely any signal - so be prepared for a holiday without the trappings of technology [wonderful!]. It also clearly describes the bathrooms as having hand-showers [no overhead showers] over the bath and that is also true. Sloping ceilings make it difficult for tall adults to shower, so bathing would be preferable. The location makes this an ideal place for visiting other local attractions as well as being approximately 15 minutes from Bridlington by car. Nearby Rudston and its unique monolith is the next village, and Sledmere isn't far. Apparently, somehow a full complement of six 6'5" National basketball team booked to stay this year, each one arriving in their own car [it clearly states that there is room for two cars] - and of course the facilities were totally inappropriate for a letting of this kind. The property is of course clean - in the countryside there is good reason for the the odd spider - and they are also resident.

A nice visit was tainted within seconds of arrival; we arrived following performances for children at a local historic venue in our transit van containing props and costumes) we tagged on a few days holiday in this lovely area).
A man approached my hubby âI didnât know you were coming in a great bus: park against the wall as close in as you can so it doesnât block the light outâ. âGet your Mrs to move the vanâ (hubby was struggling with key box) ; then came to me and said âget your man to park as close to the wall as he can.â There was a very large drive :parking for several vehicles, we could easily have parked outside the property we hired. Instead we ended up having to carry stuff from one side of a very large property to the other to load and unload. We were out daily from breakfast time until late evening so not as if we were causing an obstruction or eyesore? Perhaps if large vehicles or vans are an issue then it should be noted as part of the booking system. We could well have been in a camper van breaking a journey: I suspect the attitude would have been the same?.The property was well positioned , comfortable and with good cooking and washing facilities. Very dog friendly with bowls etc provided. Two single serve wine and biscuits were left as a welcome. Bathroom towels provided were on the small side of bath towels, and the one set was grey washed out and old,( Iâve relegated better for the dog at home) We used our own towels which were larger and less worn.

The apartment was really very clean.
Everything you could possibly need was supplied. It was lovely to have a full size fridge/freezer which enabled us to buy all our shopping on the first day, most holiday flats we have stayed in only have a small fridge with a tiny ice box which means multiple trips to the supermarket through the week. The luxury of a washing machine and tumble dryer allowed me to do a couple of loads before going home. The little touches were really appreciated e.g. dishwasher tablets, washing machine powder/capsules, fresh flowers, wine and biscuits upon arrival. The location is brilliant, very quiet at night. The beach is only a couple of minutes across the road. I can highly recommend the walk down to Fraisthorpe along the beach to see the WW2 sea defences and pillboxes. The Lobster Pot pub/restaurant was also a pleasant walk. The railway station is easily reached on foot from here. At night the south promenade is well lit, so no problems taking the dog out late at night. Bridlington is a great location with beautiful beaches and plenty of litter bins (essential when you have a dog). We have been coming to Brid for 30 years and still love it. I would highly recommend the apartment and hope to be booking again soon, it really is a gem of a place for dog owners.

Property in beautiful setting.
House clean and beds comfy. However, Need heated towel rail permanently switched on in bathrooms and extra heaters in bedrooms as the fixed heaters gave off very little heat. Extra heaters provided on request. Hester in dining room failed on 2nd night but was quickly replaced when reported. Large kitchen fully equipped for home cooking but cold. Electrician attended twice to fix bathroom heater. Plumber attended once to fix plug in bath, not holding water. Lamp in lounge and tv tripped twice. Had to go to fuse box to trip switch. Use of beautiful garden, ideal for dog. Friendly host. Very apologetic for unforeseen faults. We visited last year and had no hot water for 24 hours or so. Plumber attended and resolved. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in a beautiful setting, really would have preferred not to have encounter the plumbing and heating problems.

Some negatives: I was disappointed by the fact that I could not cancel once booked.
I don't understand why there is no cooling off period. (When I re-read the small print and discovered no wifi I tried to cancel within 10 minutes. If I had it was clear I would have lost my money altogether.) The interior decor etc is a bit below the standards you would normally expect. However, the positives of the cottage hugely outweighed any negatives. We adored our holiday. The setting is idyllic. The people on site were warm and very friendly. The key to our happy holiday was to adapt ourselves to fit in with the property - not the other way round. We really had a fabulous time.
