What our customers say about their holidays
Wendy - Verified booking
Sea Vista is one of âtheâ best apartments we have stayed in during our 12 years with Carbis Bay Holidays/Sykes Cottages.
Parking was brilliant (a joy to pack and unpack undercoverâ¦!), the bonus of a lift was a real plus making our arrival & departure problem free. Inside so tastefully furnished with some lovely pictures and lamps. Everything you could want in a kitchen (not that we intended to use it much...!) with sparkling clean glasses, cutlery & crockery. The balcony was private and offered a place to relax when the sun shone. All in all, a beautiful apartment that we were sorry to leave! I know from personnel experience how important constructive feedback is, and these points below are relatively menial and easy to fix but should and could have been picked up on before our arrivalâ¦. which would have exceeded our experience. Attention to detail is key, small points I know, and may seem trivial but get them right and take your already 5* property to a 5*plus property. The window blind in the Twin room looks faulty and is "hanging down" on the right side at the top. We didn't use this room at all, but it may be a future complaint if not fixed. Toilet seat loose in family bathroom. Also, as you look at the shower over the bath there is mould on the righthand corner. The Dimmer switches in the Lounge are flickering (the two round ones), so we couldn't use these. The battery clock in the bedroom with a balcony appears to need a new AA battery And finally, we were unable to unlock the gate which leads down to the beach â did try all keys on the bunch but unfortunately none of them worked. Maybe a suggestion would be to label the keys, or if not required, take them off the bunch.

On arrival we were very impressed, high end fixtures and fittings.
Although when we came to cook dinner we had to wash every pan before we could use it,the wok was rusty. The lights above the washer/dryer were caked in grease/ dust and the opening windows were filthy inside and out. There was a cigarette above the cooker for some reason (none of our party smoked) We had issues with the heating especially at night when it went colder we followed instructions but to no avail. We eventually phoned Carbis bay who did exactly what we did but still the temperature did not move. Unfortunately we didnât see the housekeeping notice which was hidden under our coats which we filled on arrival. A nail clipping greeted us on the dining room table. There was a hair in the bowls just as we were putting dinner out so we quickly had to wash all the plates, The apartment was full of dust and hair , I actually swept up on the Sunday under the settee and I was going to vacuum,However the bag in the vacuum was absolutely full to bursting. I was a little bit taken aback at the standard of cleaning and Iâll be suprised if it was actually cleaned prior to our visit. We arrived at 3 and were suprised to be able to get into the apartment. I didnât want to say anything at the time because I didnât want the hassle of someone coming in whilst we were there. I was on holiday. Disappointed to say the least my son was also disappointed because we couldnât find the charging lead to the PlayStation. But other than that we had a good time !

Overall a beautiful apartment with high quality fixtures and fittings in an ideal location.
The welcome pack was a nice touch. However, there were a number of issues we need to bring to your attention: The twin beds were not pushed together into a double as requested when booking. There was no Nintendo Wii games console, controllers etc as stated in the accommodation details. The washing machine was very dirty with gunk and mould. We had to clean the drawer and door seal then run a hot wash before we felt able to use it; not something you want to spend time doing on holiday! It may be beneficial to put a notice on or near the machine requesting that the drawer and door be left open after use to allow it to dry out. Also for the machine to be regularly checked and cleaned. It was stated that a hand towel, bath towel and bath sheet would be provided for each guest but there was only a hand towel and bath sheet. There were complimentary toiletries for three guests rather than four. The bottom of the blinds in the main bedroom were dirty/mouldy and one of the plastic tabs was broken. The wire racks on the barbecue were rusty. We have been staying in self catering accommodation in Cornwall, and throughout the UK, for many years. This was our first time with Carbis Bay Holidays and we were disappointed that we found it necessary to have to bring these issues to your attention.

Overall the property was lovely, spacious, well stocked cutlery and crockery.
Beds really comfortable. The views were amazing too!! Unfortunately every room wasn't cleaned to a high standard that i would expect at this price. Some of the cutlery had hairs on them, as was the plates and bowls. There were also hairs in the sinks in both bathrooms, and in the main bathroom under the scales (I don't think these had been moved in some time) The balcony/terrace was clean, well stocked furniture etc. My only issue was the hole to the left of the terrace where water drained to the downpipe. This was open and we had a little dog that could've quite easily fallen through, like possibly a child also. I suggest putting a piece of chicken wire or similar across. We had to use a small beach bucket from the utility cupboard. We attempted to use the washer dryer, and although the was function was fine, the dryer function was poor. You shouldn't have to dry something that took some 2 hours. Not sure whether this is a fault or not as we have the AEG product at home and it works better and faster.

Lovely flat in a fantastic location, with the additional benefit of being pet friendly.
Our only problem was the Spinnaker parking, with both residents and holiday lets double parking in single spaces. The residents whose parking was directly behind our allocated space had visitors staying and so parked their two estate cars directly behind ours blocking us in. Frustratingly, they rarely answered their door and on the one occasion they did, had been drinking and told us they were unable to move their car. Although they did the following morning, they then still continued to park there! Worth noting for anyone who plans to use their cars a lot. With this in mind and yet another huge price increase for next year (we understand costs increase but itâs doubled in 4 years) we just donât think itâs worth the money anymore and so sadly wonât be returning to this area for the first time in over 20 years of holidaying there.
