What our customers say about their holidays
Beverley - Verified booking
A beautiful cottage, literally a couple of minuteâs walk away from the forest.
Loads of space for a large family or a friendship group. We actually spent all our time in the large conservatory and garden and only went into the front room/snug on one occasion, and the dining room a couple of times to play board games, but we were blessed with the weather and I imagine the living room with a very large wood burner would be amazing in colder months. The house was really well stocked, with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay; the owners even left us a bottle of fizz and a tub of choccies, which was a lovely thought. There were plenty of lovely quality toilet rolls too! I know this seems an odd thing to comment on, but so often we go to a property that has frankly cost a considerable sum, to be left with a couple of cheap rolls for the whole week! Bedding and towels were luxurious and smelled lovely and fresh and clean, and the beds and pillows were comfy. I personally didnât like the position of the bed in the master bedroom, as one side was against the wall - fine for youngsters with sturdy bladders, but middle aged ladies such as I, who need to get up for a pee, have to either wake up the other half, or clamber over them! A minor gripe, however, and one which wonât affect the majority of people! The garden was beautiful, and our dog absolutely loved it; he particularly enjoyed having cool shady spots to lie when it got too hot, but there was plenty of sun all day. It was large and completely secure, and there were a couple of relaxing sun loungers in addition to the garden table and chairs. We loved the games area with darts, pool and air hockey; our only tiny niggle was that it wasnât lit, so as these evenings are now drawing in quickly, we were unable to play as often as weâd like. The location is great, as mentioned previously, almost in the forest, and only 20-30mins away from beautiful beaches. The village centre is only 10 mins walk, and there is a great selection of eateries and all the usual shops you would expect/need. The Swan pub is literally across the road, and is good for drinks but many better places to eat in town (in our opinion). The owners were in contact and were very responsive, but as they had thought of absolutely everything, there was nothing that we needed. We chose this area randomly, based on the pictures of the house, and Iâm really glad we did, we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend both the location and this specific property. A lovely stay, thank you.

My whole family (22 in total - from old to young) stayed over bank holiday weekend.
The villa was a street away from the beach and beautiful views!!! Literally a 15 minute walk away from the pier All rooms had working electric showers Heating was no issue at all Lovely kitchen for us to cook in (which we did A LOT OF being a typical Asian family!) Natalie was MORE than helpful in addressing any issues we had, always ready on call or message to solve any issues and bless her she even dropped some snacks off! We were welcomed with a lovely welcoming basket full of snacks already! Kids fell in love with the place we stuck them up in the second floor which had its own sitting room, games room with ps4, bathroom and a huge kingsize bedroom The layout of the villa Is like an intriguing maze, everyone had plenty of space to themselves, huge dining room area we could all sit as a family (18 people), baby cot and high chair was provided for the little ones, plenty of cutlery and dinner sets for the whole family and a perfectly working dish washer! Oh and thereâs a utility room with extra fridges and freezers, washing machines and a dryer! Layout GROUND FLOOR - HUGE kitchen - dining room to seat 18 people - Two sitting rooms (next to each other) - double room (perfect for those who donât like stairs) - utility room (behind sitting room) FIRST FLOOR (straight up the stairs) - double room - family room (double and single bed) - single room - twin room Then a wing to the right of the stairs, two steps down has a single and a double, and up another set of stairs (separate) some stairs another single and double SECOND FLOOR - large double room with Bathtub - kingside bedroom (no ensuit but itâs a massive room and right next to the bathroom) - bathroom with bathtub - games room with ps4 (which has a double and single sofa bed) Sitting/lounge room with nice sofa/lounge chairs All bedrooms have ensuite with showers or tub (mentioned above) EXCEPT for the kingsize room Definitely go for a walk through the Italian gardens, view the sunset in the morning, watch the stars at night as all street lights are turned off, we went for loads of midnight walks and felt very safe Lovely little town weâd love to visit again

Would firstly like to say that we all had a lovely holiday.
The space worked well for us but wasn't really thought out or planned well.. the property itself could be great but it really is unkept and uncared for. On the second floor there are two massive bedrooms but only have a double bed.. whereas room 13 is tiny and has a super king bed but then there's no room for a chest if drawers or anything else, just room for 1 bedside table that was covered in dust at the back by the lamp. For someone with a severe dust allergy that was scary. The second small lounge the sofas and chairs where absolutely covered in dogs hair so we had to hoover and clean when we first arrived. We found that the fire and carbon monoxide alarms where out of date/not working.. we discovered this as we set fire to a tea towel by accident no damage was caused but enough smoke that should have set the alarms off. We did report this so hopefully this has been resolved! Not sure why but all the handrails we sticky /dirty and had yucky peeling paint we think possibly the wrong paint was used and just over painted rather than rubbed down and painted correctly. Along the landing skirting boards there was dust and particles as if it hadn't been vacuumed for while. There was not enough if the blue laundry bags to put all the bedding and towels in not one at all fir rooms 12 and 13. Although these were keft in the hallway so a real trip hazzard as you move about. So we collected them and stored safely until our final morning. Outside was a lot smaller than the description led you to believe.. the Orchard... hmmm not much of an orchard.. my garden has as many fruit trees.. the patio/dinning area is a mess broken stones and wobbly lights with weeds that had grown really big. The location was good and great for the beach.

We stayed at Lonsdale villa for a 70th Birthday celebration.
A family of 12 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs. The villa was very clean, cosy and spacious. We were welcomed with a lovely hamper full of treats, thank you to the owners for that. We had everything we needed in the well equipped kitchen to do our own cooking, pots, pans cutlery and glassware, loads of fridge/freezer space & kitchen cupboard space, it was lovely to come together in the kitchen sitting at the island whilst cooking etc to chat about our plans & put the world to rights! The lounge and snug worked well for us were well furnished and comfortable, we enjoyed doing our own quizzes and bingo at the lovely big dining room table. All the bedrooms were well equipped, spacious and comfortable with lots of storage and all have en suites, the kids made good use of the games room on the top floor, It was a bonus to have the hot tub in the enclosed private garden area, great to relax in and the kids loved it too. The location was perfect, a nice short walk to the lovely Italian gardens and about ten minutes walk down to the front, we felt very safe in the area even at night time. Great communication from Natalie throughout who was quick to respond when we had an enquiry and soon solved our request efficiently. My only suggestion & just a thought would be to have some picnic ware for using in the hot tub, maybe a mop would be handy too for wet feet when coming back through the kitchen area from the hot tub. We enjoyed our stay so much that we hope to make it an annual event as a family and would recommend without hesitation, great value for money, 10/10 all round, thank you.

We had a great week at The Orchard Country House.
Reading the reviews we were expecting the house to be a bit run down however we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it actually was. The kitchens were well stocked with ample plates, cutlery etc... and all areas of the house were as described. The outdoor space was perfect and had a supply of chairs (but we would recommend bringing your own as well so everyone has a seat). There were a couple of issues which is why the scores have been marked down. In a few rooms the towel heating rails were on and we could not turn them off (not great in the current heatwave). Despite contacting Sykes this was never sorted out (although they did send a maintenance team round very quickly). The showers in some rooms are pretty useless, either no hot water or no pressure. The drain at the back of the house appears to be broken so overflows and has a bit of a smell coming from it when the door is open, The final issue was we found a few random items in the lounge area so the cleaning wasn't great in this area. Not house related but one minor downside is that the house location is a bit remote and you require cars - we did one walk into Lyme Regis on the coastal path and it was not easy going and no sea views (we did however get taxis from Lyme a few times and these were good value). However just to add - these few points and issues didn't massively impact our enjoyment and we had a great holiday so we would recommend a stay here.
