What our customers say about their holidays

We really enjoyed our stay at Troon Cottage, perfectly sized for 4 adults, 2 seven year olds and a toddler.
The adults slept on the middle floor with kids in the top floor bedrooms. I was a bit worried the property would be a bit too grey from the pictures online but itâs tastefully done and feels cosy yet spacious at the same time, like a home. The kitchen was well equipped we found, plenty of cupboard and fridge space for all our food, and the cooker and dishwasher worked well. We found that the stair-gate needs to be replaced downstairs, itâs a bit fiddly and comes off at the hinges when you go to lift it, itâs not secure and would have been a problem if our toddler was one of those who likes to stress-test everything in the house! There was also a stair-gate missing on the top floor despite what it says on the listing - not an issue for us but might be for others. We had requested a highchair and cot; the high hair we managed to find in the store room located in the cosy, but the cot was not set up (I had called Sykes to make sure and didnât just rely on my online request). Luckily we had ours with us as we were heading elsewhere after our stay, not sure what we would have done otherwise, and our toddler sleeping with us was not an option. The heating was tricky to control - we had set the timer for specific times. I suspect the radiators need bleeding, just to be sure that itâs not a bigger problem. We managed with sweaters but it would have been nice to have that option. It would be really handy to have better instructions for the electric heaters too (what all the options mean) , might have been us but even so, better to have than not. When we stripped the beds we found the mattress covers and duvets to be stained (at least in our room) which wasnât great if Iâm honest. A bit of bicarbonate of soda and strong stain remover in a hot wash would do the trick, leaving everything nice and white. An extra set of keys would have been great - as much as there is a key lock, having an extra set takes away the pressure of having to coordinate timings.m and provide a bit of flex. Itâs something we noticed was commented on in the guest book. For all the above reasons Iâve given the property four stars across all aspects. We would however stay here again, itâs a lovely property, close to town and an easy drive to other parts of Norfolk that we wanted to explore. Weâve already recommended it to our families and friends. Book it if itâs available!

Kittiwake Cottage isnât as reflected on agents website.
For a relatively high price property Kittiwake Cottage is tired throughout and this is not just end of season tired. The online pictures are not current, perhaps they are from when the cottage first came on the holiday market as the furnishings do not reflect their current condition. Too many issues have been left unmanaged including a leaking en suite shower, a rusted plug hole in the downstairs WC, a blocked shower tray and dirty tiling. The dishwasher trays are so badly rusted we couldnât use it with fear of making us ill, just as well as it also leaks! A good kitchen let down by poor quality pots pans and appliances. The sofas and chairs are very uncomfortable and unclean. Itâs unusual for a holiday let not have a guest book to give feedback on the stay so perhaps some of its issues havenât been recorded which is why these havenât been rectified. All in all itâs a potentially good property with double parking in a great location. It does though need freshening up throughout with some new furnishings, fix the issues and the odd top level touch such as bedroom TVâs to make it what it really should be!

Positive .. good heating, very comfortable queen bed Negative 1
. Cooker door does not close so unable to use. Impacted our holiday as my husband is disabled and unable to eat out. This is despite owner getting feedback about this on 13th September. This should have been rectified. 2. The shower over the bath leaks flooding the floor near the toilet making it a real hazard for the elderly or disabled. Again this impacted on our holiday as we were only able to use the ensuite is small for a disabled person. After the cleaners arrive a day early a plumber was called but said he could not rectify the situation. This happened late morning the day before we were due to leave! Had we been aware of these 2 problems we would not have booked this property and are left feeling disappointed. We wonder if Sykes monitor the state of their rental properties because although this property looks good on line it's a tired and is definitely needs refurbishment.

Absolutely perfect for what we needed!
We were 2 families and between us had a 3 year old, 2 year old and 9 month old and we were really pleased with how clean the house was and the set up was ideal for us. We had really hot weather and it was close enough that we could pop home from the beach when it got too much for the children and wait until it cooled down a bit (we really appreciated the fans in the house especially at night). Weâve stayed in Hunstanton before but this cottage was the best weâve stayed in for cleanliness, location and practicality. We walked to old Hunstanton and visited the sea life centre while we were there which we recommend . Being so close to a Tesco was great with children too! The only issue we had was that a bbq was listed on the site but we couldnât find where it was. We assumed it was in the back shed which was locked. We would definitely stay again! Thank you

Troon Cottage is a wonderful, spacious property which was perfect for our multigenerational family holiday.
It was a real treat having a en-suite for every bedroom. The location is great, within easy walking distance of everything. When we arrived we did not have enough bedding, towels or bath mats but the owner kindly rectified this as soon as we contacted them. He also arranged for a new remote control to be sent next day. The kitchen could do with a restock of a few items and there was a leaky bathroom pipe. The outside area could do with a bit of a paint and tidy up but we understand that there has been a change to the property management company which has put things back a little. However, this did not detract from our stay as the house is simply wonderful. We absolutely loved our week. Thank you.
