What our customers say about their holidays
David - Verified booking
We had a wonderful time (again) in this delightful cottage.
We were really rather surprised by the negativity of some of the visitor book comments; we were tempted to add our own satirical observations on the observations ("devastated that there was no le Creuset cookware;" "appalled by the lack of port decanter") to highlight how off-the-wall some of those entries seemed to us. A couple of ludicrously minor suggestions: It would be useful to have a hook for a bathrobe on the back of the 1st floor bathroom door; The kitchen was splendidly equipped (made the mental shift from induction back to gas without too much trauma), and the knives were far of better quality than the usual 'holiday let' - but maybe a knife sharpener of some sort? (I always bring my own knives anyway, holday cottages usually offer blunt iron bars with handles). And a really seriously, humungously stupid one - the place mats: they're a bit big, and smaller ones would make it easier to set the table and protect the middle from hot serving dishes. Mind, that gets close to complaining that 'the candelabra was only silver plate.' When those are the only critical observations to be made, neither you nor the owner should be over-anxious. It's a lovely, cosy place to stay; we hope to re-book shortly for next October. The move to Sat-Sat booking isn't perfect for folk who work Sundays like we do, but we are definitely in a minority. And a last word, about the stairs - our party is 77, 71, 67 and 58, and it wasn't an issue for us, save that one reflected whether there was anything else to be done up there when one had completed the ascent to the top floor! It's abundantly clear in the info that the stairs might be challenging for the less mobile. Thank you, all. A much needed break which couldn't have been better - and so handy for what we have dubbed 'The Gin Terrace' just up from the Mary Anning statue. Feel free to publish the feedback, but it may need redacting!

This cottage is fabulous.
My husband and I spent a fantastic week here. The cottage is very well presented to a high standard. The decoration, style and furniture provided a 5 star stay. On entering the house the fragrance was welcoming and fresh. The house was lovely to be in and so comfortable. The beds were extremely comfortable along with the pillows; an absolute must for a 7 day stay. Both bathrooms were clean and high end. The kitchen was well stocked with the required accessories and the kitchen itself was contemporary and well styled. The living room was perfect for an evening in by the TV. The window seat great for watching passers by. The conservatory was great for breakfast. We had lovely weather and spent a lot of time in the garden. This was well landscaped. Great furniture, bbq and lots of fabulous little lights all round the fences which looked gorgeous in the late evening. We visit Lyme every year and stay in cottages. This cottage is a must, we had such a lovely time in this very calm and peaceful house. Itâs a lovely short (10 minute) walk through the cottage lined road to the seafront. There are many great restaurants, cafes and bars. Lyme Regis has a great atmosphere, is so relaxing and a place my family feels so happy to stay. I recommend this cottage and will definitely stay again. I wouldnât change a thing, a perfect holiday.

Weâve just got back from a fantastic week in Lyme.
The weather was incredible and as always, carnival week never disappoints. Itâs been five years since our last stay at St. Georgeâs hill and despite having been a great base for the week, unfortunately the property did appear to have been slightly neglected since our previous stay with dated/worn decor and furnishings. Both the rear garden and the greenery up the entrance steps were very overgrown. The steps in particular were tricky to climb especially with luggage or beach bags etc as the access was limited by the growth. The rear garden felt very overgrown with even climbing plants growing through an upstairs window. Our only other issue was the state of the beds and the mattresses. The one in particular in the family room, the queen bed mattress was unusable due to being so hard (was an orthopaedic mattress). Our son ended up sleeping on the sofa due to this. Apart from these two issues are stay was thoroughly enjoyed, the lounge in particular works well as a family room with stunning views and lots of space. Cleanliness could be improved by removing all the fake flowers which were covered in dust and cobwebs.

We stayed in Rona cottage in 2020 and we were really looking forward to staying there again in 2023.
However when we arrived in August 2023 we were shocked at the state of Rona cottage. We were met with bird poo all over the windows which looked like it had been there for some time. The front door was in poor condition and the lock needed attention. The cottage was not very clean. There was black mould in the downstairs shower room and every bedroom stank of perspiration and was musty. Some if the cups were unclean and there was soot constantly falling down from an unswept chimney. The fridge was in a poor state of repair and was constantly iced up with water dripping on our food. The bedding and quilts were not fresh and the stair carpet dirty and full of fluff and fog hair. In the lounge the sofa smelled badly and there was a leather chair that had seen better days. Recommend a deep clean of this property some serious maintenance work and replacement fridge. It would also be better for clients if the washer machine worked and the washing line was lowered so you could peg out washing. We were really disappointed with the poor state of this cottage and would not recommend this property

On the whole, we loved Bethal Cottage.
It's location was great. It was well stocked and as ever the welcome pack is lovely. However, it does need some tlc to make it come up to the grade it was marketed at. In the garden the chairs/table need rubbing down and revarnshing. Not nice to sit on with bare legs! There are only two cushion sets (for a house that sleeps 6) The garden is a great size but there is no shade. There is a metal structure which we believe should have a sail on it? Even an umbrella in a weighted stand (stored in the shed) would be appreciated. The hose does have a spray attachment but it shoots off as soon the water's turned on. Essential equipment with dogs in the property. In the house. We were confused as to why the mattress to the double bed, in the second bedroom, was 6 inches short in the frame? Not comfortable for a 6' adult! In the lounge, only 1 bulb worked in the 3 wall lights? We believe the dates for rubbish and recycling are incorrect in the folder? All these points are minor but fixable in a day and given rental prices for properties have risen significantly they should be addressed.
