What our customers say about their holidays
Confirmed Guest - Verified booking
The cottage is lovely, comfortable and well equipped including excellent wi-fi (though the dryer part of the washer-dryer doesn't work). Burnsall is normally a delightful and tranquil location, its inhabitants are friendly and it is a great place from which to explore a beautiful and interesting area. But on hot days the whole of the surrounding area descends on Burnsall and its river and because the cottage is so central you cannot avoid the feeling that your peace has been disrupted. There are cars everywhere and if you look out of the window you can see lots and lots of people. If you open the window you hear lots of noise sometimes quite late into the night. Local volunteers clear up the appalling rubbish people leave behind them. In conclusion this should have been a five star review. But on warm/hot days in summer the cottage doesn't live up to its description as a rural retreat. So best to come in spring or autumn and you will have a wonderful holiday.

The house was clean and very comfortable in a lovely location with great walks right from the house. Our week was just after the schools went back but we hadn't realised how busy Burnsall was especially at the weekends. The number of TV channels was somewhat limited unless you brought your own Sky card which we weren't told about beforehand. What was more disappointing was that the field behind the property was open as a car park by the farmer with cars and pedestrians walking past the house and we were unable to use the "patio" tables and chairs which were right on the edge of the lane. The farmer who allows parking in his field instructed us to park under the ash tree (not oak!) but didn't mention that birds roost in that tree at night and the car was covered with excrement in the morning with no outside tap to use to clean it off. Apart from these points, we had a lovely week walking by the river with some great pubs nearby.

Number 7 The Oaks was beautifully clean and very well equipped.
The living room, kitchen and main bathroom were of a good size. We cooked each day and this worked well. The double bed was very comfortable. We stayed in October and the central heating worked very well and there was also an electric heater in the living room- cosy and warm. The balcony was a great size. A welcoming bottle of fizz and biscuits was a lovely touch. The statics are well spread out and the site itself was very quiet. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful and thereâs masses to do in the area. The staff were very knowledgeable about possible day trips. Things to consider⦠The site is very close to the A65 so if you need total peace and quiet donât book on this site. Quarry lorries come past day and night and they do make a noise-especially at night! There is no information folder at the static. Sykes usually has one with lots of helpful info in (we had to seek help to get the boiler to work).

Agreeing with all that has been said before the location and facilities of this Craven Cottage has been first class. I cant believe its only 3 stars we are certainly going to book again. We had a great week using a North West rover on the railway and also sampling various bus routes. The Saturday bus to Harrogate and the Sunday bus from Grassington to Hawes were particularly scenic and interesting. We mostly catered for ourselves but would recommend Bizzy Lizzies for fish and chips. Skipton has many bakers shops that you are spoilt for choice but pastries from Thomas's were very good. As for doing your washing try the Express Laundromat on Sackville Street a seven minute walk away and the staff were very helpful , they give change for the machines and you can buy soap there. WE hope you will enjoy your stay in this delightful cottage as we did

A lovely stay in a well located cottage, the cottage was welcoming and inviting.
Upon arrival, there was some milk, tea and coffee provided which was a nice gesture. The cottage is a great base for walking and a visit to Malham to see the cove and Janetâs Foss. After a 12 mile walk, Dyson House is a great place to come home and relax. There were a few areas which could be improved, the kitchen was lacking some utensils such as small sharp knives for chopping and the oven door was faulty as it struggled to close. The hinge on the left hand side is not secured in properly which caused problems during the stay. Another minor issue, was that in some areas of the home there are damp spots where wallpaper is starting to peel, which is something to watch in the future. Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay at Dyson House and would consider this cottage to stay in the future.
