What our customers say about their holidays
Richard - Verified booking
We booked Medland for a family holiday, five adults, two teenagers and a dog.
The property is ideally situated for exploring South Devon with lots to see and do. Chudleigh offers a selection of pubs, small shops and a Co-op, shame the fish and chip shop was closed when we were there. The sitting room was comfortable, though doesn't really cater for eight people, only offering a two seater and three seater sofa, plus a bean bag. The dining room was spacious, with a table and chairs for eight people. Unfortunately the sofa in the dining room isn't "a nice spot to unwind whilst waiting for those delightful meals to warm up" it's extremely uncomfortable and desperately needs throwing away. The front bedroom is very noisy early in the morning as it faces the road and the traffic noise "booms" between the buildings. We all found the beds uncomfortable, it's a shame the owners haven't taken on board the previous comments and at least replaced the mattresses. Two of our party went home early due to the lack of a good nights sleep. The kitchen had adequate utensils and pans, the dishwasher door didn't seem to close properly and a two slice toaster doesn't work very well for eight people. Parking is a challenge, but with a bit of persistence I managed with my Honda CR-V. I'm leaving this review hoping that the owners will make the effort to invest in the property, to improve the decoration, replace the tired bed linen and crockery, to name but a few things. The saving light was Becky who was extremely helpful, especially when the rain came in through the kitchen ceiling! If your a family looking for a holiday in Devon I would seriously look for better value elsewhere.

Marc and Sarah are wonderful hosts and their little dog Ted is a real cutie.
On arrival we were pleasantly surprised with our cream teas and milk, orange juice and water in the fridge. The location of the shepherds hut is beautiful and peaceful and you really do feel like you are getting away from it all. It is also ideally situated near to some very scenic views, in particular the small walk to the Coombe Cellars restaurant and pub offers beautiful views along the river Teign. During our stay we were mostly blessed with ok weather but one day we did have a downpour. This was the most challenging day for us as Iâm a fairly big guy and struggled with having to stay in the hut during the evening. If I could offer one small suggestion for improvement it would be perhaps an awning or a small area that the outside seats could be put under so they could be kept dry and we could have still sat outside during the downpour. As it was we had to open the doors of the shepherds hut which attracted the insect wildlife. This really was a minor thing though and we certainly cannot blame Marc and Sarah for the British Summer. Overall we loved our stay here and we feel like weâve had a great, relaxing holiday. Thanks Marc and Sarah, you have done a wonderful job with the shepherds hut and thought of pretty much everything that people would need in their stay.

We had the most wonderful stay here!
When we arrived the whole process was so easy and we was able to park up and check in with ease. The location is brilliant with lots to do in the village and a little beach/river a short 5/10 mins down the road. We took our dog with us for his first mini break and it was brilliant for him, he had the whole garden area to run around in and was no restricted at all. The owners were fantastic with contacting us to make sure everything was ok and putting us at ease about our dog and how he can venture anywhere. The Shepards hut itself was fantastic, so beautiful!! the pictures do not do it justice. The bed was so comfortable and cosy and we even had some welcome scones waiting for us. Couldnât have been happier with our first mini break with the dog and definitely planning to return here in the near future!

We were very impressed with how the Shepherds hut was fitted out .
The Owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable .. even providing extras ( cream tea . Apple juice milk etc . They had lovely garden which they were happy for us to walk through ,with stream nearby and lambs to watch in field nearby . Directions etc good but need care coming out onto Shaldon road All positive but I would say that to stay there it helps if you are used to spending time in accommodation with limited space .. and we are as we have recently sold a small motorhome so this Shepherdâs hut suited us nicely. !! Lovely rural situation with some attractive villages and three good pubs nearby for eating out . Would definitely recommend it !

We had a lovely few days staying in this very attractive shepherd's hut, set in a delightful garden and beautiful area.
It has perfect views, a gorgeous flower boarder just outside and feels very private. We really appreciated the sitting out area where we ate our meals and were luckily blessed by good weather. We had everything we needed inside and outside the hut. The availability of the croquet set was an unexpected bonus! The hut has all the cooking facilities we needed, a really comfortable bed, excellent shower and the outdoor bath with hot water on tap is an amazing luxury! The hut is located conveniently close to the village, wonderful walks and easy access to several very good beaches. Many thanks to Marc and Sarah for making this such a wonderful holiday venue.
