What our customers say about their holidays

Internet only available if sitting in kitchen as WiFi is in next door owners property No sign of any recent PAT testing Sockets and light switches probably 40 years old which was slightly worrying.
The lovely Aga shown is not available to cook on Furniture very outdated , uncomfortable couch or single old armchairs to watch tv ( couch does not face tv) not very âromanticâ Not a single carpet , all flooring is carpet tiles which is not very comfortable underfoot , especially in the bedroom. 2 mattresses joined together with 2 single duvets does not a double/kingsize bed make , nor does it add to the advertised âromance â There is no washing machine in the property (Sykes listing says there is) it is in the owners house Towels need replacing , they are hard and rough. âSky Tv â is a bit misleading , free to air sky is only channel available . Stunning location with large garden and paddock to use at rear .( Garden not enclosed as gate on drive always open , just an observation ) Could not contact owner to let us in when we arrived as no key there , she was very friendly and helpful when she did arrive. It is worth noting that although the property is dog friendly , Seaton Beach is not , Seaton , Beer , Sidmouth and Lyme Regis all lovely places to visit Perfect location to explore from . We expected better , it was not a bargain price. There seemed to be notices everywhere , telling us not to do this or make sure we do that . If the heater in the bathroom is a potential fire hazard if left on , it should be removed ? This may sound very grumpy but is is not , just hugely disappointed â¦..

The property was clean, well equipped and comfortable.
The hot tub was a lovely extra and the reason we booked the property. There were fresh flowers in lots of the rooms downstairs and a sachet of cappuccino and a biscuit x4. Bedding and towels were fresh and clean. The owner popped in to say hello the morning after our arrival and lives just across the field at the back. Silver Crooks could be so much better. The upstairs shower was little more than a dribble and the downstairs only a little better. The bed in the master bedroom despite being comfortable, was really creaky. We had quite disturbed sleep and left a day early. When it rained the water leaked through the conservatory roof and we were often mopping and trying to catch it in the mop bucket. The kickboard under the dishwasher came off on our toes every time the dishwasher door was opened. Cars move very fast on the road outside so we had to use the car to get into the village as there was no footpath and the route across the fields was too muddy to use. The property itself is full of old vintage charm. It would have been nice if the welcome features included a small basket of local produce, some milk or tea. A first basket of logs or a fire being set up in the grate in case it was needed would have been a nice touch. The cupboards were totally bare, not even a pinch of salt and pepper could be found so you will need to bring EVERYTHING with you.

A wonderful cottage and great stay.
There is some really useful info in the cottage, however the font of the text is really hard to read, some info about bins confusing and out of date (bin dates). E.g. the four wheeled bin at the top of the drive for rubbish, the recycling - put the bins or the bags at the top of the drive? We did our best. The central heating instructions were non-existent so we had a guess at how to use them - would rather have had instructions so we didn't break anything (needed as the kitchen end of the cottage gets quite cold). A little fan on the fire (specific ones for fires) would be great to help push the heat into the rest of the cottage. I did raise the (potential chimney) water leak in the kitchen with the office, so hopefully the owner has been made aware as the ceiling is bowing in the alcove. A little bit of chicken wire or netting on the bottom of the large gate would be great to stop the dogs escaping - we used the windbreaks so we could relax and not worry they were heading out for a swim! None of the above was a major issue at all, just hopefully a bit of info to help improve the property. It was really very lovely and felt like home, thank you :-)

We have just had a very pleasant stay at Little Rowan.
The accommodation is very clean and bright, well appointed and very comfortable. Everything is there that you need in the kitchen area, and it also has a very handy, and spacious utility area with washing machine and dishwasher. The beds were very comfortable. It is situated in a quiet area, surrounded by beautiful countryside. A lovely welcome pack greeted us on our arrival, milk, biscuits and cider much appreciated. Janet and Keith were very good hosts, interested but not too intrusive. They have a beautiful dog, Drago, who is generally around to greet you back each evening. They had advice on where to go etc and the house contained a lot of relevant information about the area. Thanks to them for the advice on the journey home regarding traffic, it really worked! We were very fortunate to have sunny settled weather whilst there, and visited many places in Devon and Cornwall. We went to Appledore, Clovelly, Bude, Tintagel, Boscastle and Port Isaac. All accessible from the house in around 45 minutes. Would definitely recommend, and would love to go back sometime.

Trill is an absolutely beautiful house set in beautiful rolling countryside.
Beer and Lyme Regis are a few minutes away in a car and the local pub is friendly. Basics were to be found at the local garage, either a five minute drive or a highly recommended and beautiful walk away. There are a few bit that could be better but overall it was a beautiful base for a lovely holiday. Some of the furniture was broken (although usable) and the lack of usable Wi-Fi made itself felt with two teenagers in the house. The road in is pretty awful too, but take it slowly and watch out for the potholes and youâll be fine. Donât let this put you off though, being a bit off the beaten track puts you right in heart of the countryside. The local wildlife was a constant joy, with red deer, birds of prey and a menagerie of other species all making an appearance in the beautiful grounds. For eating out River cottage is just around the corner (if you havenât been, go, itâs incredible) and the local pub serves good honest food too. Faultless? No but the positives of Trill far outweigh any of itâs faults. Highly recommend!
