What our customers say about their holidays

Generally good facilities as shown, trip advisor reviews don't match those in the visitor book - generally good reviews shown overall.
Some dated decoration but homely and warm. The downstairs cream carpet showed the usage but was ok. Well stocked kitchen area and the cottage had a new wood burner which was great, I think we may have been the first to use this as it was burning off something the first couple of uses, but was no bother after that. A cosy cottage and great for our visit, we were out most of the day exploring. The outbuilding with the washing machine and tumble drier was handy as we were quite muddy after cycling! Didn't use the garden area (not warm enough to sit out). The flowers and cake on arrival were lovely, thank you. We had a great week there and it is a super base for exploring the moors. Lambs nearby as we went in April and even the occasional owl hoot for added wildlife! The ring of bells pub 20m up the road is great as is the Bridford inn (in Bridford!), super food and a range of ales, if that is your thing. There are many other good pubs around as well!

Quite frankly, the Owl Barn is far more beautiful and comfortable in person than it is in the pictures!
! I had a wonderful holiday! The view of the rolling hills was fantastic and it was great to wake up every morning, sit on the patio with tea and look at the countryside and forget all the worries and stress of daily labour and toil. The property is perfectly located. Not too far from a café or Tavistock, not too close to civilization. Itâs the perfect sweet spot and has everything you need right there at hand. The kitchen is fully equipped and I whipped up some great meals with everything I needed. The owner, Ms Roberts, was courteous and very kind and she even left clotted cream and jam with scones for her guests so we could have an authentic Devonshire cream tea. Absolute bliss! It was the best holiday of my life and I will definitely be hiring the place again in the future to see more of Dartmoor and to relax and chill after months of work and toil. Ten out of ten, would book again!

We had a lovely stay in Owl Barn.
Great views and friendly neighbours in the form of sheep (and new born lambs) and horses! It was warm and cosy, comfortable beds and though it didnât have a washing machine (or dishwasher) due to limited space, it had everything we needed. Suitable for people with limited mobility and a useful wet room. Obviously, being on a farm there were some narrow lanes to reach it, but you would expect that in a rural setting. Not a problem. The owners were helpful and friendly too. My two grandsons really enjoyed staying, and made use of the play barn. It was conveniently situated for the area i.e. Plymouth, Tavistock, Dartmoor etc, and we would have liked to have stayed longer. It would be nice to return when the weather is warmer. Overall, a lovely stay in a lovely setting.

To begin with: The photo of the property on the 'advert' is not accurate as it actually depicts the neighbouring property - this is due to the angle from which the photo is taken - the neighbours property proceeds Little Gate Cottage.
As dog owners who instructed that we would be taking our dog expected the garden to be outside the door of the cottage. In fact it was across a driveway to a neighbouring property. It had the appearance of somewhere which had not been touched by a gardener for many months. The 'garden furniture' was in a disgusting state - so dirty that we would never consider using it. To describe the area as a garden is taking a liberty, it would better be described as a wilderness. The cottage itself needed a good clean. The décor is tired and needs updating. Throughout our stay we could not get any reception on the television. After taking one look at the cooker we decided that we would not use it due to its filthy condition. We will never return to this cottage

We had a wonderful stay at Peace cottage, me my partner, his dad and our dog.
The owners are so kind and lovely, the welcome package was very special and enjoyed very much. The cottage is definitely peaceful and so much land to have a lovely outdoor walk with the dog. The cottage is beautiful and very spacious. The cottage has all the amenities you could want/need. The only negative we had was the main double bed, it was very creaky and loud just to move about on it. Also we was unsure if the mattress or bed base needs changing as it was stiff (or we ate too many scones lol) but other than that, we had a excellent stay. The owners could of not been nicer and they are so willing to help out with anything. We definitely want to come back!! We did not want to come home. Even our dog tried refusing to leave!
