  A beautiful old cottage with plenty of charm in a quiet location within a small village. The cottage has a sizeable enclosed garden with garden furniture and a BBQ, perfect for a summer afternoon/evening. We walked from the cottage to Robin Hood’s Stride which was nearby. The cottage is perfectly placed for many walks and visits to the likes of Dovedale and Chatsworth House which are a short drive away. Locally, The Miners Standard pub was very atmospheric and served lovely food. Further afield at Rowsley, the Grouse and Claret was a pleasant place to eat with a varied menu. We were a group of 6 and had plenty of space in the cottage not to get under each others feet. The inner hall, which we called the Boot Room, was ideal for booting up and keeping our boots during our stay. We used the lounge as a meeting point with a tea or coffee in the morning before breakfast and in the evening before dinner at the long table in the dining area, followed by a games evening each day. This is a great find for both a family break and a holiday with friends.

  We stayed here for my friends hen party in April this year.

  15 of us stayed over and a few more visited during the day and there was plenty of room. It’s a lot bigger than it looks on the photos, very spacious and lovely outdoor space with large seating area inside and out, lovely new hot tub, shame we were unlucky with the weather as we would have definitely made use of this space outside and the hot tub otherwise ... There is everything you need; dishwasher, large fridge freezer, washing machine, drinks fridge. Plenty of crockery and utensils and they even left us some washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, tea towels and cloths. Plenty of toilet roll and towels provided. It was perfect for what we wanted and will definitely consider revisiting with family some time. Host, Henry was very attentive and showed us how everything worked on our arrival. Plenty of space for parking by the barn too! Would definitely recommend! ThanksXx

  Property was AMAZING!

  clean, well maintained, great views with all the little luxuries you could want. Hot tub on an evening looking over fields and hills after a day of walking the dog or one of the trails close by. There’s a lake less than 15 mins away with activities like kayaking and paddle boarding, and quaint villages all around to explore. For the kids (and the grown up kids) there is karaoke, pool, table tennis, darts, and a retro arcade games console. Perhaps you fancy a bbq one evening and sit in the pagoda for a family meal? Maybe you fancy a sauna…go for it! Close to Alton towers should you want a visit there too. Lots of field space for football, tennis, badminton, frisbee right on your door step. The stay here is worth every penny in my opinion and the owner is super lovely who goes all out to make sure your stay also has the personal touch! I can’t recommend this place enough!

  We were a 3 generational party, 6 adults, 4 teenagers & 4 dogs. Elton house was the perfect place for us to relax, have fun, be apart, but most importantly be together. All the downstairs rooms were spacious enough for 10. We were very lucky with the weather but loved the open fires when the temperature dropped. The garden was a great host to an Easter egg hunt, racket games, relaxing & fully enclosed making it excellent for our 4 lively dogs. The walks from the door are across stunning, beautiful countryside. The nearest shop is a 5 minute drive away in Winster. Thank you Jeremy for the welcome hamper and flowers, much appreciated. Elton house is definitely a property that we would like to return to. We absolutely loved it.

  We had a lovely stay at Bottomhouse Barn.

  Henry was very welcoming and helpful. The house was really in a lovely area and great for family activities, family walks, cycling, and a theme park. The Peak Wildlife park was within minutes as was the RSPB nature reserve. A visit to Chatsworth House was worthwhile. As a family with various age groups we found plenty of things to do for all. The house accommodated us well and was clean and tidy on arrival. A couple of minor things, I would suggest maybe the kitchen may need a little attention the dishwasher wasn't very efficient, also the electric tripped a couple of times but we were able to access the fuse box in the kitchen. Our thanks to Henry am sure Bottomhouse will be enjoyed again in the future.
