What our customers say about their holidays
Shelley - Verified booking
The property is over the Fat Face shop in Fore Street and if you are facing the property, the gated entrance is found down a narrow path to the right of the shop.
The access codes for both the gate and the key pad were sent by email once we booked the property. There is a small car park approx. 30m further up Fore Street, which for a small charge we parked in just to unload the car and get everything to the property. The long stay car park permit was on the dining table waiting for us and we then moved our car to the long stay Creek car park which is located past the Co-op. The property was lovely, clean, and with a very well equipped kitchen. We cooked all our evening meals there, having bought our vegan supplies for the week with us. The fridge has only a small freezer compartment. We ate lunch on the go and we never had a problem finding vegan options in any shop, cafe or restaurant. The owner kindly supplied new tea towels, a few dishwasher tablets and a 100ml bottle of washing up liquid. All bath towels are supplied but not swimming towels. The beds were very comfortable and the two small bathrooms were great for us. There was a small amount of damp in the main bedroom fireplace and ceiling which I am sure the owner will address, as overall, the property has been well cared for and was nicely decorated. The TV is big and made for a great Eurovision evening. The radio is in one of the wall kitchen cabinets. There is a shelf of videos and books which was a nice touch. We did not use the wood burner as the weather was great, but it's a nice feature. The clothes hanging space was limited but there is plenty of drawers which was just right for the two of us. There is some covered building work approximately 20m behind the property. Although it is visible, it did not bother us as there are lovely blinds and shutters to arrange as you wish for privacy throughout the property. Noise was not in any way a problem, indeed the property was surprisingly quiet considering it is on the main street. For us the position was perfect as it was right in the heart of Salcombe, with the ferries shops, pubs and cafes all on a level walk. (No hard slog up to a rental at the top of the hill at the end of a day for us!) We had a fantastic week exploring some of the South Coast Path which was stunning and beautiful. We would recommend popping into the information centre to pick up the maps of some of the circular walks: Gara Rock, Bolt Head, Snapes Point, Bolt Tail, Thurleston. Don't miss a ferry trip to South Sands to explore Overbeck Gardens; the views are superb. Thank you for a fantastic week. We would not hesitate to recommend this property or to book it again. On one more point. I left a small rucksack at the property when we left, but after a quick call to Coast and Country Cottages, this was returned to our home address within days for a reasonable £30.

I had my 75th birthday here with hubby, two daughters, one son-in-law and five teenage grandchildren.
The location is superb for surfing beaches a short drive away, King Arthurâs castle ruins and amazing new bridge. Etc. The house exceeded our expectations in many ways but in a couple of others didnât. However the owner, who lives next door was always on hand to answer queries and more than ready to take on board our suggestions. We were only his second guests since he took it on and so was keen to hear any slight quibbles and to put them right for future guests. The info from Sykes about the house was a bit misleading with the Covid instructions. They said there would be no cushions on the sofas and that there would be no games, maps, books etc. All these things were there so we neednât have brought our own. It also states that there is a beach 200 metres away! No there isnât! The sea might be but not a useable beach. Also we assumed, wrongly, that as it is a big house it would have a reasonable size garden. So we brought a gazebo but there was nowhere to put it up. The outdoor space is tiny with the hot tub taking up half and a BBQ and two benches with small table the rest. So if you have a BBQ meal you really need a table and chairs to eat it at outside. The hot tub is a luxury but we felt a garden dining set would be more useful. Also there is nowhere outdoors to dry wet swimmers, towels or washing although an electric drier and clothes horse indoors is provided inside. A rack for wetsuits is outside the front with a hose which is handy. The house itself is very well appointed and tastefully decorated with no lack of seafaring themed ornaments and wall pictures. The kitchen fantastic for catering for large numbers and a very comfy lounge. All bathrooms are great with endless hot water for those after beach showers, even all going at once! The bed I was in did sag in the middle rather and gave me a backache for the first half an hour each morning but maybe my age had something to do with it. Matt the owner was so friendly and helpful that I donât want to upset him but felt that these comments might help those people thinking of booking up at Trevena Lodge. Oh and the view from sitting on the loo in my en-suite was the best I have ever experienced! We managed to avoid the crowds to avoid the Covid and altogether we had a super holiday and I had a memorable birthday!

We absolutely loved our stay at Culdrose Manor.
It's in a great spot close to the Lizard Peninsula and Penzance and all the beautiful beaches along the way. We also enjoyed the free passes to Flambards Theme Park! Correspondence from David was friendly and timely - we were given the door code in good time and when we made an enquiry he responded immediately. Upon our arrival the house was spotless, much credit to Daiga, Normund and David, thank you. And we really appreciated the goodies left out for our arrival. We really felt at home in the Manor, and even when some of our party had to leave early due to work commitments it was still homely and cosy despite the size of the place. You can see this from the photographs but we can confirm that the rooms are sumptuous and plentiful. In addition to the spacious bedrooms there is a comfortable lounge large enough for the whole party of 10, a dining room with seating for the whole party plus a few extra chairs, outside dining area with further seating for the whole party, a TV room that proved invaluable when the kids wanted to play games or the adults wanted respite from the tennis/football, AND a games room/bar area. The kitchen was large enough to for half the party to lounge around in pjs in the morning and included all the necessary cooking facilities, kitchen utensils and tableware, a large fridge-freezer, 2 dishwashers, all cosily warmed by the Aga. In case this wasn't enough there are two large entrance hallways with seating, a spacious hallway area outside the family rooms, beautifully kept flowerbeds at the back of the house surrounding sufficient parking for at least 6 cars, and an enormous and equally beautifully kept front garden including barbecue, dining and table-tennis. We will definitely return here should the occasion arise.

First of all, the location in Salcombe is excellent, right in the centre and not situated on a hill.
It must be said that loading & unloading at the start & end of the holiday was a nightmare - nowhere close to leave the car except in double yellows. The parking permit is a bonus - & once weâd parked the car, some way away from the accommodation, we didnât use it again. Obviously that might not suit everyone. It was a bit noisy - clearly the road is a popular place to meet up at night! The family shower room is inadequate - shower is tiny & only a rainfall shower from above, so inappropriate for children & anybody wishing to have a shower without getting their hair wet. I also didnât really understand the en suite being attached to a room with bunk beds - it would have been better to have both bathrooms off the hallway. We also found there was very little cupboard space for our own food & supplies - although there were loads of cupboards they were full of crockery etc - actually far too much for the use of the 6 who would fit in the apartment. It could also have been cleaner - Iâm no Queen of Clean but if a place is being hired out at what is a substantial amount of money, then I donât think there should be dusty shutters or grubby velvet headboards. This sounds negative - but we had a great week there, the above really were just little niggles.

An amazing property, couldnât fault it and definitely exceeded our expectations.
Making the booking was easy and communication was good from booking to arrival. We had a direct contact number for Dave, who oversees the property, should we have needed any assistance during our stay. We met Dave and his team on our departure day which was lovely. They were friendly and clearly work hard to make everyoneâs stay at culdrose manor a fabulous experience. We range from age 4 months up to 75 years and this property worked for everyone, including the teenagers, which is a rarity when seeking larger properties. Such a well equipped house. The welcome pack we received was above and beyond and the fresh flowers were beautiful. We came to Cornwall and chose this property as it was close to some of our family who live in Helston. We are a large family from Scotland, and some of our family now live in Australia and were visiting. The space in the property allowed us to all be together and enjoy quality family time. It was really relaxing and fun. We all had an amazing time. Being so close to Flambards was such a bonus and everyone enjoyed visiting the park which had something for everyone. We would definitely love to return to Culdrose Manor again in the future.
