What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Voar - Verified booking
We had a fantastic week in Torquay in July, such an awesome area, with lots to do. The accommodation is in a fabulous and quiet location high up on Daddyhole plain, with the plain in front of the row of cottages (great for our dog) and sea views beyond, including of Torbay. About a 20 minute walk to Torquay on the coastal path, which we found an enjoyable walk (not suitable for those with mobility issues, or unsteady under foot) but alternatively you can drive by road in 5 mins. The property was very clean (I didn't have to wash up kitchen equipment before use - Yay!!) and well-equipped. The decor is contemporary like the photos. The shower has a good power and always hot (combi boiler) and although the kitchen is a separate galley kitchen so I found it a bit tight, it did have everything I needed. 3 bedrooms upstairs, bathroom downstairs. One TV in lounge. Large table inside, table outside and seating in front and rear gardens. Only downside for us was feather bedding/pillows/cushions throughout. As an asthmatic, feathers make me wheeze. Holiday cottages did sort the issue promptly though when I called them which impressed me. Overall it was a great base and we visited Torquay, Babbacombe (cliff railway, model village and Bygones museum), Brixham, took the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear and paddlesteamer along the river Dart and generally chilled. My husband and son enjoyed Brixham hake fish and chips from the restaurant 'Rockfish' in Torquay and said it was fab. Would happily return. The area is very dog friendly.

Our stay at Bridges Cottage was quite nice.
The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, and there is everything that you could possibly need for your stay. The cottage is very well equipped and in the perfect location, with many beautiful surrounding town and villages. If you want a peaceful break , then this is definitely the place to stay. It is very dog friendly, both in the cottage and the town. Although we loved the Cottage itself, there were 4 major negatives for us. Having problems with my right shoulder because of a previous fracture to my collarbone,I found it quite difficult to get in and out of the bed. This is because of how the bed is situated, right up against the wall and window, with no gap to walk down. Also the shower/ bath, which i should say is really nice and looks amazing. We both found it difficult to get in and out of. It is an unusual shape and quite a deep bath. The off road parking is in a very tight space and under quite a large tree. Our car was covered with sticky sap like drops all over the car, which took me 4 hours to clean off our car when we got home. The car park space is quite a distance from the cottage, so dropping the luggage to and fro was quite tiring. Although the cottage itself is an excellent place to stay, clean and comfortable. We felt that there are too many negative points for us to go there again. This is a shame because it was in the perfect location for us to visit the many beautiful places devon has to offer. We would like to thank the owner for the lovely cream tea which was left for us on our arrival.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
The location was ideal, plenty of shops nearby. Easy access to bus stops for heading into Torquay and other popular places nearby. Cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen as well as a handy washing machine in the utility room. Lovely snug room with sofa and tv.(slightly high on the wall for size of room) Lovely modern bathroom with plenty of room.Great quality towels provided. Bedroom was big enough and provided storage for all our clothes including hanging space. Lovely comfy bed. Nice fresh clean carpet in several areas. However we did both notice coming down the stairs that there were several carpet grippers poking through on the upright part of a few stairs which we did both catch our heals on unfortunately but itâs something that can easily be resolved.A cosy little outdoor area with bistro set overlooking bigger garden next door with friendly neighbours. Had to be very careful with one of the seats tho as the metal is quite rusty and has started to break up leaving a sharp edge. We managed using a cushion to sit on but just thought it best to mention. Lovely gesture providing us with milk, scones, jam and clotted cream on arrival, they were delicious and weâre now addicted to clotted cream even now weâre back home

Lovely little cottage, very centrally located in Torquay town centre.
We were left a thoughtful gift of a bottle of wine, fudge and a dog toy on arrival by the owner, Joff. The cottage was clean and the white decor maximised the space and made it feel fresh. It was the perfect size as a base for our party of two adults, one teenager and our dog. I would have been slightly apprehensive about the stairs in the property if Iâd been staying with a very young child, as they are fairly exposed at the top of the landing. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and opened out onto a patio area which was nice to sit out on. If, like us, your dog will only toilet on grass, there is a park about 5 minutes from the cottage called âTorwood Gardensâ. To find it, turn right when you come out on the road, walk past the doctors surgery and Trinity House and walk along Torwood Gardens Road. We would definitely return to this delightful property.

This was the second Christmas we have spent at Bridges Cottage and it's perfect for our needs (2 adults + dog) for the festive week.
We're originally from Torquay, so familiar with the lovely St Marychurch area, and use the property as a base when we return to spend time with family at Christmas. The property is perfect size for the three of us, lovely and cosy, but spacious enough so we're not on top on each other. It has a well equipped kitchen, powerful shower, and comfortable bed and sofa. It's off the pedestrianised high street, with lots of little shops and cafes on the doorstep, and a short walk from a Co-op and Sainsburys. The parking space is very useful as parking in the area can be tricky, and there's a number of suitable dog walking routes close by. Would highly recommend for a couple looking to stay in St Marychurch and explore the area.
