Property was filthy on arrival, decking covered in mud, bird feeders empty and mouldy shame when you have a lovely lodge next door to it with plenty of nice birds and bird feeders.
Owners leave no number in lodge to contact them and also don't respond to sykes when contacted. Inside the lodge the couch (recliner) does not work or even have a plug to plug in wall. Says on welcome pack press button put your feet up and relax but buttons do nothing and couch is very uncomfortable. Next up the smell that hit us when we walked in (very foisty mouldy smell) could of been from a few things the mould growing above kettle, from the broken bin which from other reviews hadn't been fixed or replaced this was absolutely revolting around the broken bin lid had dirt which we had to clean ourselves or it could of been the mouldy bird feeders out back. I can see why no photos of balcony and around are on sykes as it is very unpleasant to look at. Now the major part we got the fire going only to realise a crack and stop fire immediately looked everywhere in lodge for a contact number nothing but a number for sykes tried phoning that but at 7ockock at night no one at the office so had to phone the next day all while the heating would not heat up the lodge as we had to air the foisty smell out on arrival and due to the radiator not putting much heat out and being covered in dust also doors not closing properly leaving gaps and breezes coming through we we're sitting in jumpers coats and dressing gowns. Got in touch with sykes the next day to be told they couldn't get hold of owners couple hours later told that owners were sending someone to have a look to our surprise after a couple hours we have a phonecall to say not to use the fire and they won't be fixing it. As we booked the lodge for the log burner this was no longer worth staying as it was the middle of a storm and after 2 nights we decided to leave as the temperature was dropping down to -4 that night. Other things we found were mouldy sealant around sink flies all over window cill fluff or hair left on floor blind fixings broken and hanging off walls. Blinds didn't shut properly leaving you without privacy, wall piece in bathroom very run down tatty and filthy. All of this was bad enough on new years eve but to then get home after filing a complaint to receive a good will gesture of £25 from the lodge owners is quite frankly appalling. From not accepting that insulting offer of compensation to not respond for a further 23 days and counting is something I've never experienced and feel extremely let down all in all definitely would not recommend as we have booked plenty of sykes holidays in the past and every time they have been lovely clean immaculate places

Scenery from the pod and hot tub is lovely, the pod is also extremely clean and has all you could need in there, even down to the small details such as salt and pepper which we loved.
I must mention the mattress as it was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, also the shower temperature went cold very quickly so you'd have no chance of washing your hair just a quick dip (not sure if all glamping pods have the same issue.) Privacy was an issue for us and we looked to have the most 'private' pod which is Holly pod. From our pod you could see all the other pods hot tubs. I also didn't really like the fact the owners dogs were free roam - they hung around the pods in the day time and even entered our pod at one point. I imagine anyone who brought a dog who is reactive with other dogs, would have issues. We are huge animal lovers but we booked this stay for some relaxation and privacy. Lastly I felt the owner was quite intrusive at the beginning of our stay. On our first morning waking up we were met by her picking up dog poo near our pod (her dogs poo may I add) she then added it to our rubbish bag of food and asked us to take it down to the bin!! Later that day she was hanging around next doors pod with the pod resident and was sat watching us in and out the hot tub which made us feel really uncomfortable as you can imagine. After the first day we didn't seem to get bothered by her and if we did see her passing she'd smile so it's a shame that this happened on the first day. Lovely place with huge potential but for the above reasons wouldn't book again.

This is a lovely lodge which is well-maintained, clean and spacious.
Itâs suitably equipped for a holiday lodge (though no bath sheets which would be useful). We had a lovely holiday overall but the Parkdean clubhouse (which has a restaurant/bar, swimming pool, small shop) really let things down. We have been to White Cross Bay 3 times before but we felt standards had dropped this year. The service in the restaurant was appalling with longs delays, missing items and a limited menu. Meals have to be ordered via an App and downloading and using it was really difficult given that the Wi-Fi is useless and itâs difficult using even 3G/4G on site. On one occasion, we sat in the restaurant for 15 minutes trying to get the app to work and eventually gave up, and went to the bar to try and order. When we got there, we were told that all meals were sold out and there is absolutely no food available. This was at 7pm! On another occasion, the bar closed at 10pm because staff wanted an early finish despite there being customers still present. Iâd have no hesitation in recommending this lodge, but I donât think Iâd recommend White Cross Bay again. By the way, the Lee really is no Wi-Fi availability so bear this in mind if you need to do any work.

We recently for 4 nights, the location and Farm is stunning and the owners are really friendly and helpful.
The accommodation itself is really nicely finished and very clean, the hot tub was also excellent and maintained daily by the owners... it was really lovely to relax in the hot tub on an evening and look at the beautiful views and stars at night!! The kitchen area is also well equipped with what you may need to prepare and eat food/drinks. Overall the whole stay was wonderful, but we both did find the bed to be quite uncomfortable, perhaps a mattress topper would make it more comfortable as we could both feel the springs and this caused us not to have the best nights sleep during our stay, also more than two pillows on the double bed would be fabulous. Perhaps a user error but we found that the shower would change temperature from hot to completely cold on its own without changing the temperature and when we did try to change it there seem to be a significant delay resulting in as standing in the shower waiting for the freezing cold water to stop. Our dog was very happy during the stay as was able to freely roam on the farm and play with other dogs... just be mindful that there are baby chick's on site when driving and allowing dogs loose.

We had a fantastic week stay in black dog lodge for our honeymoon.
The lodge was spotless and has everything you need. The beds and new sofas were super comfortable. It was like a home from home. We were left a lovely gift for us and the dog too. My only recommendations would be to upgrade the hot tub as the jets were very weak, when I reported this to the hot tub man that visited daily he advised itâs because itâs an old tub so wonât be powerful anymore. Also it would be nice to have a guest book/information pack, I like to read these for recommendations of places to visit. It would also be nice if you could pay for early check in, we got married in a near by hotel prior to our stay and we asked if we could pay for early check in and this wasnât an option. We would love to come back again, the lodge is in a nice location very close to the lake! We were very sad to be leaving yesterday.
