What our customers say about their holidays

Orchard Cottage is in such a beautiful location with views of green hills and faraway mountains. It shares a site with the owners' house and another holiday property though there is plenty of space and privacy. Owners Euan and Laura are very friendly and have created a welcoming living environment with a wood-burning stove, well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedroom upstairs. Outside, through the orchard, you can enjoy the stars warmed by the fire pit which also doubles as a barbecue. Even in October, this was a real highlight of our trip. Once you have taken the short drive from Chepstow, you can leave the car and walk to some amazing places including Tintern and the Eagle's Nest. In the cottage, there is a folder full of maps and leaflets to guide you. We appreciated the owners' attention to detail; they provided very clear directions to the house, lots of information about how to operate appliances etc and a good hamper with some very drinkable red wine! If you have/like dogs, this retreat will be perfect. We don't have any but the resident ones were happy to visit and check we were okay.

We stayed for five nights over Christmas 2015 and we couldn't fault our stay. We arrived on foot having visited nearby Tintern Abbey (2 miles) whilst it was open over the festive period and we were warmly greeted by Laura, the cottage's owner, who showed us to the little bothy. The cottage interior is very well maintained and exceptionally clean, with very fresh bed linen in the one-bed bedroom (sleeps two in a double bed). Bathroom with bath and shower and plenty of hot water is also situated upstairs. Comfy settee/chairs, central heating and/or wood burner. Kitchen with electric oven/hob, and all the pots, pans, crockery and utensils you need. Would we go back? In a shot. Perfect location for us, lovely, friendly owner who made us feel very welcome to their, clean, tidy, fresh cottage. We have returned home relaxed and with happy memories of our time at Orchard Cottage and we couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Orchard cottage was a really good experience. Inside was larger than expected, well furnished, equipped and laid out. Very comfortable for two people, upstairs it had a large bedroom and large bath / shower room. Downstairs there was an open plan kitchen / lounge / diner, plus a patio with barbeque . The owners obviously have very high standards and this was reflected in the quality and cleanliness of Orchard Cottage The owners were on site and available, very friendly and helpful (not that we had any problems at all). Their two dogs were delightful, Bronte the Labrador cross who often came to say hello and even came for walkies with us and Badger the terrier who was a bit more reserved but still friendly and felt confident to say hello if Bronte was around too. A great area for walking or touring and a peaceful location with amazing views across to the Black Mountains Highly recommended
