What our customers say about their holidays
Lorraine - Verified booking
We stayed at Devine Lodge, Callington in Cornwall after finding a last minute deal.
This was great for us as our motorhome had broken down the week before in Scotland and we didn't want to waste the second week of our holidays. We arrived early and we were advised that we could enter the property by the cleaning team, it had been left very clean and we really liked how all the crockery and cutlery had been put through the dishwasher for us to empty. The lodge had everything we needed and the double room had a comfortable bed. We took our own towels which was just as well as the ones left in the property weren't particularly clean. The property was nicely layed out and the lights on the balcony looked lovely on an evening. The welcome pack was extremely informative although we had to Google how to get the TV working and it kept randomly switching off. The internet was poor quality along with the TV signal however we spent little time at the property and made the most of our visit to Cornwall. Plenty to see and do. Each evening when we returned we were left without a parking space, it is advertised as having two, perhaps it would be a good idea to have this highlighted in the parking area. Our first evening we visited the on site pub which served a good selection of drinks although a little expensive. We decided to stay for a meal where I opted for the halloumi burger which was pleasant enough and my husband had the chicken Kiev which was served to him raw!! We only discovered this once he'd eaten some of it. Fortunately he wasn't ill. They apologized and refunded the money for his meal only. Each evening when we arrived back at the property we noticed a very strong smell of damp, we noticed this got a little better after having the heating on however the double bedroom was particularly bad where we noticed damp patches on the ceiling, we also noticed that the curtain tie backs were loose as was the bath panel. We hoped that these issues were due to it being the end of the summer season. This is a good location however I'd have been extremely disappointed if I'd paid full price and wouldn't recommend this accommodation to family or friends

The holiday park was so peaceful and quiet.
The lodge itself was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was a bit tricky getting my Mumâs wheelchair to the door, but that was my own fault for not checking the disability access. It was manageable but we had to go to go back on ourselves a bit to use the upper path. We loved the upside down arrangement of the accommodation; not only did it make it easy for my Mum to access the toilets and bedroom, but having the living room balcony on the first floor is great for views and alfresco dining. We didnât really use the on-site facilities but the location was great, thereâs an Asda garage just a mile or two down the road which is handy for supplies. We went to Tavistock which has an indoor market and some large supermarkets. Access to Dartmoor is close by, and Bude, Looe and Plymouth are all less than an hourâs drive from the holiday park. I couldnât fault the accommodation, it was lovely. If I was really nitpicking, I would say that an info sheet or welcome pack might have been useful, just to point out that the Wifi router needs switching on, as does the hot water and to outline where the rubbish goes and what goes in recycling (some places donât allow glass for example). Having said that, it wasnât hard to work out. We would 100% stay here again, we were really impressed and were sad to leave!

We stayed at this property and would not recommend.
It is very damp downstairs in the bedrooms. We had very cold at times wet beds from damp. The property owner tries hard with the damp but the smell hits you as soon as you walk in. Beds have very soft mattresses. Shower is dangerous as it falls of the holder, shower tray doesnât drain and when you stop the shower and turn it back on it scalds you! Well stocked kitchen and plenty of sofas, two fridges but they are small with a small freezer box, one was stuck. Largest coffee table I have ever seen. Games in the cupboard if needed, wifi and TV. TV in bedroom did not work. You only have 1 key so difficult if someone is staying in and someone going out, you have to lock the door with a key. Cleaners left food debris, napkins and deflated balloons under the sofa. Not great for mobility as listed and the site itself is not great. Pools are small and the shop is tiny with limited choice, pool tables were old and worn. I would not return purely due to the damp in the lodge, it was awful and ruined our holiday.

This cottage was booked at very short notice due to Covid lockdowns at our planned destination.
Sykes staff were extremely helpful & efficient & we were delighted that our holiday was able to go ahead. Devine cottage was perfect for us to enjoy a relaxing week. The site was quiet & peaceful & central for days out. Itâs ideal for families & very dog friendly. It was lovely to sit out on the balcony, weather permitting & listen to the owls in the evening & woodpeckers of a morning. The very helpful reception staff advised us of pool accessibility & my daughter was very pleased that this facility was available to us. The lodge itself was comfortable & clean & the kitchen contained all the utensils we needed. We loved the decor & upside down layout. However, there was no hand soap & the only towels provided were two bath towels for three of us to share! I think this could have been down to the last minute booking though. Weâd definitely like to return & are pleased that Covid gave us the opportunity to explore an area that we wouldnât necessarily have chosen otherwise

We were so impressed with Devine Lodge.
This was a first 3 generation holiday for us as a family (together with dog) and the property exceeded our expectations. It was exactly as the pictures in the listing and we had everything we could have needed in our âhome from homeâ for a week. The beds were really comfortable ensuring we all had a good night's sleep (which surprised me as I usually do not settle easily into a strange bed). Although the Easter weather was not as good as we would have liked, we were able to have coffee on the balcony on a couple of occasions when the sun made a brief appearance. The children thought having their drinks outside was fun. The property was really clean so our thanks to housekeeping for such a good job. Thank you Mr and Mrs Devine - you have a lovely property.
