What our customers say about their holidays

  • Jasmin - Verified booking

While the facilities are state-of-the-art and situated in an idyllic, secluded location, our stay felt anything but secluded.

Due, no doubt to the newness of the accommodation and inexperience of the owners, we very much felt “under surveillance” at all times. We were told on arrival that the hot tub would be checked daily. We were not told a specific time however, and due to the proximity of the hot tub to the pod door our privacy was compromised several times leading to the owners seeing myself in my underwear. One of them would just appear without even a knock and at different times throughout our stay - ranged from 10am- 1:30pm - so we couldn’t even try to preempt it! Additionally, we were rudely woken up by the owner banging on our door as they noticed another car parked outside the pod. (Our car broke down while we were staying so we had to hire one to drive around the lakes during our stay). We were told, loudly, that the pod only sleeps 2 despite it saying 4 on the website and having a sofa bed. After a bleary-eyed explanation of this (we were asleep when the owner approached the pod to confront us about this) the owner backed down and later she apologised for the mixup. However a simple question first such as “just wondering why there’s now an extra car here?” would have been much politer! Another day during our stay, I accidentally broke a butterfly patterned plate. So, as you do, I cleaned it up and put it in the bin, and when the bin bag was full I took it down to the main bin on site. The owner then made another trip up to our pod the next day (Holly is the furthest pod from the site entrance) to say that they’d found a broken plate in the bin bag and that we needed to pay £10 to replace it. Felt intrusive to say the least that they had gone through our bin bag and found it! So all in all, it is a delightful setting and the accommodation being brand new gave it a nice clean modern feeling. However none of that matters if the relaxation of a hot tub and a room with a view is taken away by the feeling that you’re being watched at all times. However I’m not just here to criticise, I also have suggestions for how it can be improved: - Does the hot tub have to be cleaned daily? Could you not just have set days of the week to clean it? If it has to be daily, could you even allot an hour to give guests warning of when you’re coming (eg “We’ll be cleaning the hot tubs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 11am and 12pm”) - Bulk buy white plates for all pods rather than individual sets for each one. With pets, children and even clumsy adults like myself, accidents happen! Easier and cheaper to replace a white plate than a patterned one. - Let the guests enjoy the accommodation how they see fit (within reason of course!) Any illicit or illegal activity then by all means hammer that door down but an extra car on the drive? A broken plate? Just a polite question in passing seems much more appropriate and customer-friendly. - Advertise on accommodation listing that pets aren’t allowed to be left unattended in the pod. This was only made clear to us in the arrival instructions email received after we had already paid, and forced us to change the plans for our outings during our stay.

    Oh where to start!

We could not recommend enough times! Upon arriving we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome from carol who is joint owner with ian who was currently away in France at the time. We were assorted up to the most scenic views with a beautiful luxurious glamping pod with our own personal hot tub. Walking into the pod was an experience in its self they really do take attention to detail when preparing the pods , all the little detailing right down to the way the towels had been folded on the bed and the toilet roll pressed , the little things made it so much more special and intimate. Not one spec of dust or dirt on anything everything was clean and tidy and it felt so cozy. The first point of call however was the luxurious hot tub that was waiting for us already set to the best temperature to ensure our comfort. We soon learnt that carol and her daughter Danielle had the biggest hearts , they would always ask us if we needed lifts and recommend places to go and allowed us to watch the sun set from one of their scenic locations that is only across the road from the farm Speaking of the farm we were introduced to each and every animal they had there with them , I even had some kisses from the baby lambs and had some fun trying to catch some roosters , and our little fury friends on 4 legs that escorted us up to the pod at each chance they got it was a Barrel of laughs I would not have chose anywhere else to spend my 22nd birthday , Over all we had the best time here and we cannot wait to come back as we were made to feel like family , on the last night we all gathered at the main house for a final farewell with a barbecue dinner and just made us feel special. We will be back no doubt about it ❤️ Ellesse & Dan

Scenery from the pod and hot tub is lovely, the pod is also extremely clean and has all you could need in there, even down to the small details such as salt and pepper which we loved.

I must mention the mattress as it was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, also the shower temperature went cold very quickly so you'd have no chance of washing your hair just a quick dip (not sure if all glamping pods have the same issue.) Privacy was an issue for us and we looked to have the most 'private' pod which is Holly pod. From our pod you could see all the other pods hot tubs. I also didn't really like the fact the owners dogs were free roam - they hung around the pods in the day time and even entered our pod at one point. I imagine anyone who brought a dog who is reactive with other dogs, would have issues. We are huge animal lovers but we booked this stay for some relaxation and privacy. Lastly I felt the owner was quite intrusive at the beginning of our stay. On our first morning waking up we were met by her picking up dog poo near our pod (her dogs poo may I add) she then added it to our rubbish bag of food and asked us to take it down to the bin!! Later that day she was hanging around next doors pod with the pod resident and was sat watching us in and out the hot tub which made us feel really uncomfortable as you can imagine. After the first day we didn't seem to get bothered by her and if we did see her passing she'd smile so it's a shame that this happened on the first day. Lovely place with huge potential but for the above reasons wouldn't book again.

From the moment we arrived at the lodge, we were enveloped in peace and tranquility.

With horses and pheasants as our nearest neighbours, it truly felt like a home away from home. The lodge itself was super clean and modern, striking the perfect balance between contemporary comforts and rustic charm. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a day of exploring the great outdoors. Speaking of which, the nature views were a highlight of our stay. The gentle flow of the river nearby provided a serene backdrop for our morning coffee. For those of us who appreciate a good cup of joe, the Nespresso coffee machine and French press were much appreciated touches that catered to our caffeine needs. The kitchen was well-equipped with all the necessary appliances, including a dishwasher, making meal prep a breeze. After our adventurous, albeit muddy walks, the washing machine with a dryer was a godsend. It made our stay that much easier, ensuring we always had clean, dry clothes ready for the next day’s activities. The hosts were nothing short of wonderful, providing great recommendations for local restaurants and breakfast spots. Their helpfulness added a personal touch to our stay, making us feel well-cared for. In summary, our stay at the lodge was nothing short of perfect. It’s a place we would recommend to anyone looking for a clean, modern, and comfortable retreat in nature. Thank you for making our getaway so memorable!

I stayed in one of the Lodges with 2 other adults and 2 dogs in late June 2024.

We all agreed that the accommodation was superb and will probably book again next year There are 9 Lodges spaced well apart in an area of wild meadow with a river flowing through the land. Each Lodge has it's own private patio with our door eating area and barbecue. There is very little traffic noise and the atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing. The accommodation is very spacious, modern and clean. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to buy food from a nearby Booths supermarket and cook most of our meals on site. We had everything we needed in our Lodge to make our stay comfortable, such as washing machine, dish washer and flat screen TV. There was also a touch of luxury with an nespresso coffee machine complete with pods and some locally produced toiletries. We spent our holiday walking, going to the nearby coast and visiting a couple of nearby stately homes. We were very lucky to have warm sunny weather for most of our stay, but would have enjoyed the holiday regardless of the weather. Most of the outings we did required a short journey in the car, but we didn't have to travel for more than half an hour. There is a pub which serves good food and a station cafe within walking distance. I don't usually leave reviews but this accommodation was very good and I'd like others to know about it.
