What our customers say about their holidays

Well where do I start?
If you like your holiday to be a relaxing and pleasant experience then maybe Glanrhyd Uchaf is not the place for you! We arrived for what we hoped would be a relaxing 50th birthday weekend, to a freezing cold property where the heating only worked at certain times of the day and cut off overnight so that every nightâs sleep was uncomfortable and freezing. The owner told me to go into the boiler room with a torch to press the heating controls when it tripped out, which was really irritating and I certainly didnât want to get out of bed at 4am to put it back on! The property was dirty, the cleaning had either not been done before we arrived, or it was done badly! Tea spillages on the work surfaces, cobwebs everywhere, dirty sticky marks all over the inside of the windows, and the door handles looked like they had never been cleaned (not ideal when covid is still around). Lampshades were broken, the curtains were hanging off in the lounge, the blind in the sunroom was broken and permanently closed which ruined the view completely. Toilet brushes covered in poo next to the toilets, totally disgusting and an infection control hazard! There were leaks from the radiators onto the parquet floor and the owner asked me to put a dish under the leak to catch the water! If you like to shower daily then take your own towels as we were only given one bath sheet and one hand towel for 4 days, which is not substantial in my opinion. The owner of the property offered to send her cleaner in on the second day but we declined, as I had already cleaned up the mess and quite frankly the cleaning was already substandard so how was there going to be any improvement? After all of this and spending 3 days on the phone to Sykes both the company and the owner have refused to offer any form of refund, which is appalling! My advice, holiday elsewhere because all this messing around ruined my birthday weekend, a total waste of our hard-earned money!

Thank You for a memorable weekend Just arrived back home after a long weekend at the property.
Reading previous feedback I was slightly worried of what to expect, but to be honest I really do think some of these people stayed at a different property than ourselves..!!! Spent the weekend celebrating daughters 30th birthday and my mothers 80th so a good mix of age groups to judge the suitability. All can confirm FAULTLESS in many ways..!!!!! From the stunning views, the spacious bedrooms and facilities and your own private access to the beach. Whilst in the property you will need for nothing. From extra outdoor seating, to books, games and every item you need to cook up a meal, through to information of facilities in the area. Yes, a bit of the beaten track, but again not as bad as some make out as we had no problem with the single track road....no you dont need a 4x4 as some exaggerate. Literally 5 - 10 mins from the main A55 and about a mile from Valley, but guess what...you can't hear a thing at the weekend (cant say the same for mid week when RAF Valley starts flying Hawks at around 10:00 am, but rest assured there is a curfew at about 5:00pm Great gastro pub a very short drive away (2 miles) the White Eagle and for sure make the effort to visit. Put it his way, if you want to wake up to idyllic views and facilities that make a great weekend break then as a family we can highly recommend staying here.

We found Isfryn to be a very spacious and warm house.
The twin bedroom has some shelving for clothing but there is nowhere to hang clothes and since it is a smallish room perhaps it is more suitable for children. Oddly the only bedroom with a mirror is the en-suite room. The house is in a lovely, secluded position with views of the bay. Many pleasant walks can be made from the door. Access to the property for the last 200 Ms is by a rough track but taken slowly driving an Octavia and a Polo we never had problems. Previous reviewers mention the absence of an adequate vacuum. The issue is now resolved with a new âHenryâ. We accept that the quiet location will limit mobile phone signals but our main gripe was a very intermittent Wi-Fi connection. It seems to be a BT hub via a landline but even so for say 70% of the time we needed Wifi the hub was not connected. Perhaps we were unlucky since no one else has mentioned this as a problem in reviews or the visitorâs book. Bins collection is fortnightly. We put both outside the gate and they were emptied on Thursday 6th October. We experienced some minor cleaning issues and were I the owner I would be disheartened by the many carpet stains to what look like newish carpets. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay and the real test is would we go again â the answer is âyes we would happily returnâ.

This was a beautiful house in a stunning location.
It was comfortable, spacious and we felt at home. There were no issues which detracted from our holiday but some matters we would like the owners to be aware of. Some maintenance points: Considerable leak on the bath tap in the family bathroom. Some loose and missing grout in the tiled floor of the ensuite bathroom. Batteries in the Hive thermostat showing as "red" Dishwasher does not release tablet from the dispenser. Some facility points: No readily accessible hooks for wet coats (necessary given the outdoor nature of the location and Welsh weather!) A coat stand would be a useful addition. Imbalance in crockery and cutlery, for example many glasses and small coffee cups, less full size mugs. Insufficient crockery and cutlery to efficiently use the dishwasher as it was not possible to accumulate dishes in the washer and have enough to use. All of these points are easily resolved and we would not in any way wish to detract from the overall quality of the house and the excellent holiday we had there.

The cottage was warm and comfortable and we had a lovely time with the whole family.
However, I would say that this is not a house for 6 people - it's a house for 4 adults and 2 children! The twin-bedded room was deceptive in the photograph and was very much smaller than we anticipated. There was also nowhere to put clothes apart from a rather wobbly cheap unit of 3 small shelves with canvas cover over the top. We also had a problem opening the key safe as the 4th button of the key code would not work. In the end, after struggling, we managed to open it by pressing all 4 buttons at the same time, but this took two people to open it! It definitely needs replacing. The only other thing that would stop us coming here again was the access road. The instructions said a stony track! They did not say it was a very rough track full of pot-holes and made getting up and down to the cottage difficult, unless you were in a 4x4! We scraped the bottom of our cars on several occasions despite driving carefully and trying to keep one set of wheels on the raised grass bit in the middle!!
