What our customers say about their holidays
Sally - Verified booking
The property has been renovated to a very high standard and has the feel of a boutique hotel.
The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well. The main living area is much lighter and brighter than it looks in the pictures, but our small dog did not appreciate the glass doors in the main downstairs living area - he walked into them quite hard twice so we had to leave them permanently open and keep something in front of them at all times. The bathrooms are very tight if like my husband you are tall and rather portly (the large feathered bird ornaments were very awkward for him when drying himself after squeezing out of the shower). My mother-in-law and I, though, delighted in the beautiful wallpaper and had no problems with the small space. Whalley is lovely and we would highly recommend the butcher and the wine bar, but parking can be a bit of a problem. We did manage to park outside the property all but 2 of the days, but on the 2 we couldn't we did have to park quite a way away. It's a busy little place! We did feel some more accessible coat hooks would have been advantageous - it was drizzly while we were there and the only place to put a damp coat was either on the back of a dining chair or in a cupboard marked for coats and boots that you needed to be very slim and a contortionist to access (squeezing behind a sofa in front of a tv with a standard lamp blocking the opening of the door). We very much enjoyed our stay and felt the cottage was well-priced. We would definitely recommend it.

I can only echo the review left by Jacqueline for Skipper.
Our holiday was absolutely ruined by the building work that is ongoing right next to Skipper. Constant loud noise all day from heavy construction plant and many skip fires that blew smoke all over the garden. In addition the workers arrived at 7am in the morning and parked behind the gates, slamming doors and waking us up. There are see through gates where they park, so our privacy was also compromised. We only read Jacquelineâs review during the holiday and had no warning from either the owners or Sykes that this was happening, although clearly it has been going on a while. I feel the owners are morally corrupt, actually making the cottage available during a period when they know there are obtrusive works going on. Despite complaining three times during the holiday, neither the noise nor the skip fires ceased. We also complained to Sykes, who were of no real help, citing the fact that the contract is with the vendor and not with them. There is no mediation service. The only recourse left open to me to gain some kind of recourse is to go to the small claims court, but my wife and I have decided to draw a line on it and not spend any more precious time on this matter. So the big guys win again. I just hope that others read this before booking or taking their holiday and hopefully it will save someone from the same horrible experience that we have had.

***BE AWARE THERE IS BUILDING WORK GOING ON ON SITE*** This was our second stay at Skipper.
We were there last autumn and thought weâd go back when the weather was better (who were we kidding?). Having had a wonderfully peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings we expected the same but were sadly disappointed. There is major building work around the hall itself but all of the heavy machinery and vehicles are kept just to the left of Skipper and the noise of them trundling back and forth was horrendous. It started at 7am and didnât let up until 5pm. As if this wasnât bad enough there were a couple of skip fires so we had to keep the doors and windows closed. Also one night a van turned up, parked directly facing the garden with its headlights blazing in on us. We had a glorious 48 hours between Friday night and Monday morning when work stopped and all of the animals began to emerge. We had taken almonds and walnuts for the squirrels and it didnât take long before they were tapping on the patio doors to be fed, the rabbits and pheasants came out from hiding and we even spotted a few deer. We discovered that there are a couple of truly free range chickens which rocked up at the garden gate and in no time they were eating out of our hands. Sadly the diggers and dump trucks started up again at 7am Monday morning and we had no choice but to leave.

My husband and I and our 2 dogs had a lovely stay at No.
10 - we had a wonderful time at this cozy cottage in the pretty village of Whalley. The advertisement of the property, facilities and location are all accurate and matched our expectations. The cottage was very comfortable and well-equipped, and we enjoyed the welcome hamper with treats for both us and our two mini dachshunds. The owners contacted us via text to check everything was ok on arrival and were on hand for anything needed. The village has lots of pubs, restaurants and little shops to explore, and there was a SPAR and a COOP on the doorstep for any groceries we needed. We ordered a couple of lovely takeaways so if you donât fancy cooking you donât have to with all the amenities nearby. The weather was rainy for most of our stay, but we didnât mind as there were lots of lovely walks nearby, either walking distance or a short car ride away. When we returned to the cottage, we had plenty of entertainment options with board games, books, and access to Netflix, Apple, Disney and Prime. We stayed for six nights and it was the perfect way to celebrate the new year. We highly recommend this home stay to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable break with or without your furry friends.

On entering this property first reaction is âwowâ , hats off to the designer, stunning.
Owners have thought of everything to make your stay so comfortable.Welcome pack a nice touch, even a pint of milk in the fridge, thoughtful. Property is extremely well equipped, kitchen has everything you will ever need, not that we cooked anything as lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep, perfect location, nearest supermarket just outside the properties rear gate. Four of us were there for a week and had glorious weather, the rear courtyard was well used, a little private sun trap, with table and chairs, this had itâs very own outside toilet, very handy. Next to this was was laundry room, washer and drier, again we never used this ,but yes, thought of everything. Would I recommend this to anyone..110% Would I stay here againâ¦.didnât want to leave. Well done Philip and Judi, keep up the good work , again, âWOWâ
